### "Must use or must have software for vector graphic designers."

May 28, 2023

4.0

Pros

Everything about adobe illustrator excite me, its rich content library, its template, set of stock images, no of features availabe. Generally i don't need anything outside of the illustrator software.

Cons

A graphic software is supposed to be heavy, so it is but not that much. and pricing of the software is not con, but a low earning person can debate on this.

### "The #1 tool for a Graphic Designer"

May 10, 2022

5.0

I have been using Adobe Illustrator for over 10 years. From the moment I met it, I noticed that there was no competition capable of reaching her level of professionalism. Throughout my life, it has helped me solve identity designs, brochures, vectorization of images, icons, graphics for social networks. The limit is the sky.

Pros

Illustrator is the first tool I open when I turn on my PC. Its vectorization quality makes it clearly the leader in its field. It has permanent updates that include new features, and try to never fall behind in innovation. In the last ones, it adds improvements in 3D vectorization, mockups, templates, and anchor management, among others. Its integration with the rest of the software in the Adobe package makes the task much easier.

Cons

Collaboration is key today. And while Illustrator has collaboration tools, it would be missing a key point in trying to incorporate real-time collaboration. Most graphic designers use Illustrator, and this feature would be super necessary. The price ends up being high if you don't use the rest of the Adobe package and buy it individually.

### "Vector designing now with genAI support."

March 10, 2024

5.0

With the recent genAI integration, Adobe Illustrator has become the industry standard & leader in Vector graphics design. We have renewed our subscription to explore this new world more.

Pros

Recently, Adobe integrated it's GenAI in Illustrator. We can now generate graphics using a simple text prompt to describe what we want. This eventually saves a ton of time. In the subscription, Adobe also provides us access to Adobe Fonts, Stock & the templates.

Cons

The application size is quite large and it installs only when we free up certain amount of hard drive space. It is not supported on old hardware anymore.

### "No hay competencia"

February 14, 2024

### "Vector Art for the win"

April 29, 2019

5.0

I use Illustrator every day, opening it up is reflexive when I get to work. I've also taken advantage of the additional functionality available using it with a Wacom tablet and pen which opens up a whole new range of possibilities. My design skills have grown, just as Adobe has continued to grow the functionality fo the program over the years.

Pros

Illustrator is my go-to for graphic design, and it's getting better all the time. You can be super precise compared to editing raster images with Photoshop. In Illustrator, you can make cuttingly straight lines and big bold designs. The only limit is your imagination! Best of all, Adobe is rolling out new features all the time. The Puppet mode, trim view, and new gradient tool, just to name a few, are awesome innovations. You can tell they are not content with doing what they've always done, Adobe is learning and changing right along with us, and I appreciate that. The new layouts have also been a big improvement, as it's always been a challenge to have your perfect tool set up when there are so many to choose from.

Cons

Learning the many tools can be a big learning curve, not to mention all the new ones that are becoming available with every update. You can't fully appreciate the new gradient tool unless you've been stuck with the limitations of the old one for years. And even when you do master the controls, it's not a guarantee you will be pumping out amazing designs. At the end of the day, the tool is limited to the creativity of the user. But Adobe is doing what it can to make this software as versatile and powerful as it can be.

### "Best vector making program."

November 6, 2022

5.0

Overall experience is actually great time. Illustrator help me through out so many project that i can earn from it.

Pros

To be honest, as a designer perspective we all love Illustrator, because it gives us best solutions for our project whenever we want to create logo, shape or any color style we could do inside it. The best part is on printing part. I got project which is a big giant banner. Consider to use photoshop but didnt work at all. Illustrator give me a size that i could working on and still got my image very clear when the printing house print the banner. So this is what I need to complete project, imagine if I don have illustrator I couldnt complete my project.

Cons

For me, dislike i think i don really have much. On 3D part, it a bit complicated between photoshop 3D much easier. Can you make it way better?

### "The all in one software for doing vector work."

December 13, 2023

5.0

We use Adobe Illustrator on a regular basis. We make diagrams, and symbols, to point out and emphasize our design (Architecture) during the course of a project. It always comes out crisp and at a high level with Adobe Illustrator.

Pros

The way it is set up and integrates in the whole Adobe eco system. It is relatively fast (if you are proficient) and accurate for our line of work.

Cons

Not much to be honoest. If I were to point out anything, it would be features within the software that is not as easy to find. It could be better at illustating its own possibilities.

Reason for choosing Adobe Illustrator

It is the leadin software, so no competitor where considered.

### "An absolute must for graphic designers"

May 2, 2019

4.0

Pros

Adobe Illustrator is one of the three basic tools for graphic designers –along with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign. It is in my opinion the one with the most accessible learning curve of the three. You can really go a long way with very little training. However, this software is so powerful that even after 10 years of daily use I am still learning new functionalities that make my work easier and faster. Illustrator excels at vector image creation but is versatile enough to allow you to incorporate raster images into its files as well. It borrows some filter functionality from Photoshop and allows for perspective designs as well –although admittedly I have not explored that aspect to its full extent. Some people even use it to build more complex, text-centric documents and it does very well even though it is not intended for that purpose.

Cons

When it comes to larger-sized print documents, such as billboards, Adobe Illustrator might not be your best bet. The canvas allows for a maximum of about 18-19 feet. Although I appreciate the graph tool, the way that it has been set up makes it more difficult than necessary to adjust the aspect and I sometimes feel my creativity gets locked in as the data presentation settings are not malleable enough. The other aspect that may be considered a con but it's really not is based on its text-handling abilities. It does not allow for such in-depth control over text as does Adobe InDesign because it is not intended to do so.

### "A powerful suite for Web Designers"

October 2, 2020

5.0

After growing up with GIMP as my original mainstay when learning web design, I had the chance to use Illustrator at an internship around a decade ago. From there forwards, it's been my go to for designing SVG logo/image sets purely through the ease to export the SVGs for cross platform/device use.

Pros

As a full stack web developer, the tools that illustrator offer for creating Scalable Vector Graphics is unparalleled. With the importance of creating media that 'travels' well between both mobile and desktop environments, you'll be hard pressed to an offering that fits all circumstances with the ease that Illustrator offers. The joy of exporting your SVGs so simply to fit wherever you need them has been honed (or perhaps even owned) by years of Adobe's feature rich development and progressive enhancement. From Macromedia Shockwave with Flash forwarding to HTML 5 adoption, Adobe Illustrator has been at the forefront of web media design.

Cons

As with any design tool, there's always a learning curve. Though, that be said, with the sheer amount of online tutorials and videos, its truly quite hard to find fault with Adobe Illustrator... Once you've got the basics, the sky truly is the limit.... From moving from GIMP (a great free choice), to Illustrator, I'd definitely recommend the jump across the the Adobe camp.

### "Great for making LOGOs, VECTORs and more!"

July 23, 2020

5.0

Adobe Illustrator has overall been an amazing product to use for my field. I am constantly creating graphics, images, posters or social media posts and will find myself opening Illustrator almost every day. Illustrator is also a very beneficial program to have as lgoos, vectors or images downloaded online will often come in an EPS (smaller vector file) or AI (Adobe Illustrator) file. Having Illustrator makes designing easy when you need to be very percise.

Pros

Wow, what an amazing software. Adobe Illustrator, although may look very intimidating when you first open it (believe me, I know), is such an easy-to-use software once you get the hang of it. But you really want to get the hang of it first. I have found so many online tutorials (video and articles) that demonstrate how to create vector images, how to use specific tools in Illustrator, and also how to learn the basics around the program. These are beneficial to someone like me, who has received some in-school training on these design programs but had to really learn on my own once I started working. The BEST thing about this software is the large number of online resources available (for FREE) for creating, learning and utilizing Illustrator in the best possible way.

Cons

Although this product is much easier to use the more you use it or the more you have classes/training, it can be very intimidating for those who aren't in a Graphic Design role. Myself, I am not a graphic designer, so sometimes this program really confuses me. Especially when I use other programs like Photoshop and InDesign. So, the biggest con I would say is the confusion it can cause. If you aren't a tech-savvy person, who will go on Youtube to watch tutorials on how to work on a program, then this app may be too confusing for you. The design programs require a lot of learning and patience to understand how they work. Especially a lot of on-your-own learning as Illustrator is one of those programs you learn as you go.

### "Adobe Illustrator is a great design software."

July 16, 2022

5.0

I enjoy using Adobe Illustrator for my image editing and logo building, it has helped me save time with the in-panel editing feature and works great on all my PCs. I would like Illustrator to make a more stable mobile experience and add in some instructional videos. Being able to scale my work to any size is pretty great. I would definitely recommend this software to other designers.

Pros

Because of in-panel editing, I am able to work on multiple images at once which saves me time especially when an idea for a different image suddenly pops into my mind. I like how Illustrator allows me to print in any dimension and saves my files in manageable sizes. My favorite part of Illustrator is it works great on my Windows and Mac.

Cons

I do not like that Illustrator does not work well on my phone and it does have a bit of a learning curve if you're not used to this type of software.

### "Powerful vector graphics builder!"

November 14, 2018

5.0

I work full-time as a designer plus do some freelance side jobs. Illustrator is my go-to for creating custom logos and vector graphics.

Pros

My favorite aspects of this software are it's pen (bezier) and shape building tools. When creating vector paths/shapes, the pen tool is able to be adjusted using shortcuts while in use - allowing you to both adjust the location of the anchor point AND the shape of the path at the same time. This control is extremely user-friendly as you don't need to commit to creating a point where you click, but can move it around to the exact location you want before finalizing. It sounds small, but it's an amazing feature. In addition, the shape building tool is fantastic. It lets me create complex, custom objects by combining/overlapping basic shapes together. Then I can highlight all the shapes and use the builder tool to quickly merge or remove the overlapped bits. It might sound confusing, but once you get in there, it's really easy to do and lets you create professional work even if your drawing ability is lacking.

Cons

Like most Adobe Programs, it's bloated with tools and interfaces. This was recently improved significantly in their 2019 update.. as now they have one panel that detects what tools you may want/need based on what is selected. However there's still a ton to learn before you can access it's full potential. That being said - the potential available is one of the exciting aspects of the program, so the extra learning required pays off.

### "Preferred vector based graphics software on the market!"

September 24, 2019

5.0

As a Graphic Designer and Illustrator, I have been using Illustrator on a daily basis for over 6 years. It is the most versatile vector based graphics software, and I prefer it above anything else. It was a bit intimidating when I first began to learn during my training in school, but It has since become second nature to me.

Pros

Adobe Illustrator has all of the functionally of tools you need to create flawless vector designs, useful for novice to advanced designers. It allows you to create simple vector drawings to complex 3D elements. Once you learn the basics, it becomes easier to use over time. One thing that is really helpful is that I can work with multiple art boards, which allows me to make different versions of a design and be able to view them side by side. Being able to store elements outside of the art boards is really beneficial and saves me a lot of time. I really love that I don’t necessarily have to work in layers. Illustrator can be integrated smoothly with other Adobe applications.

Cons

Illustrator is very difficult to learn if you are not professionally trained, as there are certain complex formulations to creating vector graphics. It is a bit expensive, but is to be expected with a high professional graphics software. The application can be buggy, even after updates. It’s interface can be difficult to navigate, and sometimes tools will randomly get hidden under other visible tools. Some tools can be annoying to turn off if you accidentally choose them. But to me, those are just minor irritations.

### "Long-time Adobe User"

January 17, 2019

5.0

My overall experience with Adobe Illustrator, and other Adobe products, has generally been good. However, since they moved to a subscription model, I have run into several glitches that required re-authorizing the software on my computer, and in at least once instance I was unable to connect to Adobe's server, couldn't authorize my software, and lost a day of work time when I was on a deadline.

Pros

Having worked in graphic design for 25 years, I have used many iterations of Adobe Illustrator, and currently use Illustrator CC on a daily basis. I also used to teach an Illustrator course at a local community college. What I like most is that the core functions have remained largely the same over time, and the software is mature and stable. It's actually the only program I've ever used for creating vector graphics, so I don't have anything else to compare it to, but I find Illustrator to be intuitive, and the learning curve for competence is average for a design program. I typically use Illustrator for logos and infographics, and it is ideally suited to those tasks.

Cons

My main complaint with Adobe Illustrator is that certain tools which share similar functions across programs in the Adobe line-up - most notably, Photoshop and InDesign - don't operate consistently. For instance, the resize tool in Illustrator works differently than it does in Photoshop, and it works differently in Indesign, compared to the other two. My other main complaint is that Adobe has changed the icons for several of the tools in the tool bar, and changed the arrangement of tools, for no apparent reason. This creates a lot of unnecessary confusion, particularly for long-time users who have grown accustomed to the old tool bar that remained relatively unchanged for many years. The new icons are no more intuitive than the old ones, and in some cases they are less. Now that Adobe has gone to a subscription model, and doesn't need feature updates to drive software sales, most professional Illustrator users (and Adobe Creative Cloud users) would prefer the company focus on security updates and stop fixing things that aren't broken.

It also has support for 3D graphics. Illustrator can be used with other Adobe products like photoshop to create a wide range of designs including logos, brochures, posters etc.The best illustration software are Adobe illustrator because it has many features that are not available in any other illustration software such as animation and 3D capabilities

Pros

### "My only option for vector designing "

October 26, 2022

5.0

Pros

Adobe illustrator is a very versatile application that allows me to design all my stationery, logos and vector illustrations with no issues. Although it is full of features and options, it’s very user friendly and the names and titles are kind of “logic” so even beginners can get along with it, at least with the most basic things.

Cons

It bn is a heavy application so you need to be aware of that when processing certain graphics. Some computers may have a hard time processing the app and some features. Also, I work with Apple devices and Apple and Adobe don’t seem to get along well sometimes, so when one updates the other may misbehave and the apps just crash

### "Great for vector graphics if already in the Adobe ecosystem, but other software can do it better"

April 23, 2018

4.0

Pros

As with any Adobe software, once you know one program you can pretty much pick up the rest quite easily. So, if you are already familiar with Photoshop and Indesign, then this will be a piece of cake to learn. However, if you don't have any experience in these programs the learning curve can be rather steep. What's great about this program is that there are very few limitations. Basically whatever you see in your minds eye, you can create. There are a plethora of tools that can meet any of your illustration needs (and plenty of plugins that can be found online that will expand your tool set as well)

Cons

A major downside is that because Adobe's software is developed by different teams, it can sometimes be frustrating that a tool that works so well in one program is incredibly underdeveloped in another. For example, the transform tools in Photoshop are fantastic; you can warp an image to anyway you see fit. The transform tools in Illustrator however, for a very long time, lacked a lot to be desired (and while I know that this has been fixed in recent updates, it's still a point of contention for me). In a lot of ways, the competing software "Affinity Designer" has expanded upon and surpassed the capabilities of Illustrator. It's masking tools, the way it handles layers, and pathfinder functionality far exceed Illustrator's. If I wasn't already so deep in Adobe's world, I would consider using that program more frequently.

### "Illustrator has no competitors."

August 1, 2018

5.0

Pros

Illustrator does everything a vector drawing program needs to do, plus a ton of other stuff I would never have thought of (and some I still haven't had occasion to try, in 15+ years of using it). Once you get the hang of the interface, the workflow is exquisite. It's full of well-thought-out keyboard shortcuts that make it possible to complete complex procedures rapidly, and workspace presets that display only the most relevant tools for the type of task at hand. What I love most about all of Adobe's creation software is that with the endless keyboard shortcuts and combinations, using it well becomes like playing a musical instrument you develop skills that can be stored as motor memory, allowing your conscious mind to focus on creative decisions while your hands do all the work. Illustrator can read and export just about every format relevant to vector work (and then some), so when you're working with a variety of clients and can't predict what kind of files they'll be bringing to you, it's a pretty safe bet you'll be able to open anything. Of course, chances are their files were created in Illustrator anyway, because it's pretty much the industry standard. When it comes to all the different file types you might need to export for web, 2D presses, 3D printers, laser cutters, screen printing, etc., Illustrator has always had me covered.

Cons

It takes some time to fully train yourself on the many, many aspects of using Illustrator effectively. That said, even a novice can open it up and get SOMETHING done. It'll just take a lot longer, and they likely won't make use of many of the available features until some experience has been gained. Since it's been around so long and is so widely used, any questions that come up can always be answered with a quick Google search, which will bring up tutorials published by Adobe and others, as well as forums where the trickier questions have already been discussed. Being such a feature-rich program, it's also a bulky program to run. That's fine as long as you're working with state-of-the-art hardware, but could start to get tricky if you're stuck on an old machine.

I have faith in Illustrator and learned how it behaves. I know it will continue to update, as other Adobe applications do. Best to keep that belief in it and push on with resilience.

Pros

As a professional artist and business creative, Adobe Illustrator has been an application well used in my toolbelt of visual software. From vector creations to typographic layouts, Illustrator never ceases to amaze me in terms of innovation. The thing I like most about it is the guidance it provides for artists and designers really shines through. Specifically, Illustrator analyzes and

Cons

I've learned that each software has a strength of its own. And it's best to understand how it works so you can maneuver through it without a lot of issues. That's why Illustrator really works for me. The only setback would be the brush types. I do wish the variance in stroke would expand more in terms of the lines it creates. I've noticed that the strokes would have lines within them, but would just be copied versions. However, I believe this is a minor issue and not much to dwell on!

### "Industry-standard Vectoring Software"

September 29, 2020

For the experienced user, Adobe Illustrator is a seamless experience. Almost everything that you need is readily available. The community a quite large and the online resources are endless. There are other alternatives such as CorelDraw and Inkscape, but the workflow UI resources and support you get with Illustrator just makes is not worth to consider other apps.

Pros

Compatibility is the keyword here. Most (if not all) decent design agencies, boutiques, in-house teams, press/printers and even freelancers use Adobe Creative Cloud. If your team is doing serious design work, you'll never go wrong purchasing Adobe Illustrator (along with the rest of the suite). And now that it is available on a SaaS or subscription-based model, Adobe ensures that you get the most recent updated version of the software as long as you/your team is under one of their plans. This is actually a great thing when you consider that everybody else using the software are also using the same version that you have.

Cons

The subscription-based model is not for everyone. Some companies would prefer to have perpetual license for software purchases. This is os it always have been with the Adobe Creative Suite until CS6. When they moved from perpetual licenses to 'Cloud-based' subscription model a lot of the smaller agencies, boutiques and freelancers suddenly found it hard to have access to legitimate Adobe Creative software such as the Illustrator. A lot of users think that the burden of paying $20+ (single app) to $50+ (for the whole suite) per month is a little bit too expensive.

Illustrator is integral to the design work at our company, since bulk of the work we do involves creating graphics that need to be scalable in size.

Pros

Adobe Illustrator is very intuitive and easy to use once you've familiarised yourself with the controls and functions. The possibilities are quite limitless, and I've used it to create logos, icon sets, illustrations. It is also my go-to program to use when working on typography given how easy the controls are.

Cons

There needs to be some integration between similar functions in Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign - given how these 3 programs are usually used with each other by professionals.

4.0

Illustrator has a very steep learning curve... and is a very expensive software. If you are fortunate enough to have access to it, it is an extremely powerful tool that allows you to do practically anything with graphics. It's main benefit over the competition is that it integrates seamlessly with the other Adobe products.

Pros

I use illustrator frequently to create vector images used in my merchandise business. More importantly for me, illustrator is quite good at quickly and automatically converting b&w JPG's to vectors that can then be scaled and applied to print and web design. This allows the graphic design team to draw and sketch in pencil, corel, photoshop and basically any other drawing platform... and then be able to vectorize the image for use at any size.

Cons

Illustrator needs more "in-house" tutorials. It has an extremely high learning curve which forces new users to seek out tutorials on line. There are tons of them - but made by independent creatives. These are great but frequently out of date as Adobe keeps updating and upgrading the software. It would make sense for Adobe to finally create and keep updated a functional library of tutorials for new users.

### "Design ontwerpen in Adobe"

May 21, 2023

5.0

Ik gebruik het vooral om visualiserend te werken. Veel kaarten kleur te geven of collages te maken over nieuwe ideeën.

Pros

Reason for choosing Adobe Illustrator

Zat in het Adobe pakket. Alles in 1 pakket is beter
