November 5, 2019

its good because its free but if you can stability and dont have a massive catalog, youre better off somewhere else

Pros

its good that its free and opensource so there is a decent amount of development for it in terms of extensions and such

Cons

its buggy and full of security holes, you can spend a lot of money just fixing that and the bugs that come along. we have issues with checkout and still cant figure it out.

Pros

Very complete and flexible solution for large ecommerce stores. It has a great community to support you, a large number of third-party integration and provides lots of features.

### "the key to business in e-commerce"

April 17, 2019

5.0

Every day I design UX / UI for stores on this platform and I know how much I can implement from my projects to Magento.

Pros

Magento is great a solution for medium and large stores. Management from the admin panel is relatively easy and the product management is very extensive. We have many additional modules and plugins.

Cons

Implementation, maintenance and corrections are expensive. We also need a professional team of specialists, and for inexperienced sellers, the amount of functionality can be overwhelming.

### "E Commerce for all"

June 9, 2019

4.0

Pros

I am using Magento for 2 years. It contains everything you need for running your own online shop without having enough experience. You need to be a developer if you need something more complex. However, I think Magento is the best eCommerce framework at the moment.

Cons

I didn't like Magento 1 before. When Magento 2 was released I thought that everything is perfect, but it is not. In my opinion they don't need knockout JS inside framework. It is so complicated and can be replaced with something like Vue Js or similar.

### "Highly customizable commerce solution"

May 7, 2019

4.0

Pros

Magento is WordPress of ecommerce world. It is highly customizable and has a great echo system of modules and developers. There is a module for almost every shipping & payment method. If it is not available, you can easily code it yourself and get it developed be an agency.

Cons

Performance can be very slow sometimes if the web store is not planned carefully.

### "Magento Is The Definitive Ecommerce Platform"

May 19, 2019

5.0

I have used Magento a few times to setup ecommerce sites for my clients. The ones that use it love it, even if it takes a little while to learn.

Pros

Magento has a tool for everything in the online stores I setup for my clients. I don't dread the question, "can we have..." anymore because I know that Magento can do it and probably has the functionality ready to go.

Cons

Magento can be kind of complicated and very difficult for new people to approach. It takes longer to teach to my clients than WooCommerce.

### "Difficult to use correctly as a developer"

September 9, 2019

3.0

It was not the best experience. It has potential but you are only an expert or connoisseur of the tool. I tried to support a customer who had his store with the product and I didn't like it

Pros

It is designed for people if technical knowledge. It has free versions and free templates. Easy to install

Cons

If one needs to develop custom components or add certain functionalities to develop, it becomes very complicated and the level of security, and low site optimization. You have to be almost a magento expert to be able to develop on the platform. Personally, if you want to develop a store there are other platforms that install a more intuitive and easy to use core.

### "Magento is HARD! It does almost everything but it's near impossible to setup!"

June 6, 2018

4.0

Open an all-around online storefront with most of the bells and whistles built in.

Pros

Magento is a real shopping cart. It includes almost everything you need to open a storefront, including configurable, bundled, and digital products. It has most of the main shipping methods and payment gateways built in. There are many tools to help increase conversions.

Cons

It's HARD! If you are not a programmer (and a magento specific one at that), you will need to hire one. There is always something that needs to be configured or coded in order for everything to work well. It is extremely BULKY too, so if you do not have a large product offering, there are lighter solutions out there.

### "Convenient to work on this platform"

November 5, 2018

5.0

Pros

Together with the programmers of our company, we moved several client online stores to Magento. The service is quite convenient, so it was easy to do. Separately, I want to note a convenient admin panel, which contains all the information about the site. Also here it is possible to connect analytics from Google, which is also a big plus.

Cons

It is difficult to customize CMS due to the small number of plug-ins. It was also difficult to integrate the panel with 1C and connect popular payment methods.

### "Magento my top pick for large ecommerce websites, but not recommended for smaller sites."

November 28, 2018

5.0

Overall, Magento is one of the top open-source ecommerce platforms, it runs some of the largest ecommerce websites on the internet. It is ideal for large ecommerce websites and is an excellent software with a great community around it.

Pros

Magento is very scalable and has a robust set of features. I highly recommend Magento for large ecommerce websites as the scalability makes it ideal. As open-source software the base software is free, but extending with customizations can get pricey.

Cons

For Magento to be properly setup, you really must have a dedicated server and a developer with knowledge of the needs and intricacies of Magento. This is why I don't recommend Magento for smaller ecommerce websites.

### "Magento 2 - A SMB's Dream"

September 28, 2018

5.0

Pros

There's already thousands of amazing extensions available on the market. Customisation themes and extensions is easy for any experienced coder. Given it's open source, it's an incredible ecommerce platform.

Cons

Conflicting extensions are difficult to iron out - introduce some way of checking coding doesn't interfere with existing extensions.

### "The Great Magento Commerce"

October 8, 2020

5.0

My team were able to run a relatively large 10,000 page E-commerce store without many technical issues, more importantly the website was able to get indexed and rank well within Google. Changing products and listing items was relatively simple to do.

Pros

Magento has a wide range of functions and features with the ability to add modules. It is SEO friendly which is critical being able to amend the meta page title, meta descriptions and add in schema markup. A function Google uses to pull in review stars, price, and stock levels within the search results snippets has been invaluable.

Cons

You will need a developer to set up and configure the E-commerce platform properly due to some of its complexities.

### "Not my favorite"

February 5, 2019

3.0

Pros

Magento has been around for many years and plenty of people suggest developing on the Magento platform for full customibility and flexibility.

Cons

You need to be an absolute pro in PHP in order to fully understand how Magento works. If you have no to little experience with coding, Magento is not the platform for you, stick with a CMS.

### "No good for non-technical people"

November 24, 2020

3.0

Not great. I was far better off making a switch to a more 'no-code' focused platform

Pros

Magento is a great eCommerce tool when you are working with the right developers and teams that know the software inside out and have experience in C++ programming. From an entrepreneurial standpoint, once you have a team that knows the functions of the product, navigating the software and selling online is great. However, it is the steps and cost required to get to that level that put it behind other pieces of eCommerce software.

Cons

Magento is almost unusable for a 'non-coder'. My knowledge in eCommerce and familiarity with platforms like Shopify, Krepling, and WooCommerce was not enough to fully establish an understanding of the core functions the tool offers. I had to hire a part-time programmer and Magento expert in order to build and deploy basic eCommerce functions. An added cost that I did not expect when starting my business. Customer support also does not offer the right type of support that is needed.

### "Magento as an Ecommerce Platform"

May 30, 2019

3.0

We were able to create great taxonomy, and functionality, but it took a lot of trial and error to get it to work consistently and we did experience some serious down time.

Pros

I really like that Magento is completely customizable. You can basically create any function or attribute you want, you need in your store, and you can actually manage a very large product category. We had about 80k skus in our Magento.

Cons

It is hard to customize without a dedicated architect and development team. It is glitchy if you do not upgrade.

### "Lacking Documentation made implementation difficult"

March 17, 2020

3.0

Pros

Stores powered by Magento are easy to use and get the job done.

Cons

The lacking documentation proved as a major hurdle when trying to implement an upgrade from Magento 1 to Magento 2. This put us behind schedule with our new store roll out because we ended up wasting time fighting with the system when it didn't seem necessary.

### "Sophisticated platform, not for beginners"

November 26, 2019

5.0

This CMS perfectly solves the tasks assigned to it, the main thing is to choose the right content management system and everything will be all right.

Pros

We have been using CMS Magento for over 5 years. During this time, we made our company’s site on this platform with more than a hundred pages. Every day 2 thousand people visit it, while the site works stably and without brakes.

Cons

Magento has no visual constructor. Therefore, to work, you need to be able to work with html, css and javascript. On the one hand, this is even good, because the capabilities of the visual designer are limited. But on the other hand, with the help of the constructor, one could quickly change the arrangement of elements.

### "Flexible, not especially remarkable UX either way"

August 29, 2018

4.0

A good system overall, much cheaper than competitors on the CRM market and commendable for its flexibility in terms of integrating with an online market place (which I figure is the main functionality), but not a particularly stimulating or engaging CRM tool which limited its internal take up.

Pros

Flexibility- connectivity from CRM to our online marketplace on the website, allowing both B2C and B2B transactions as well as flexibility on a complicated B2B managed sales pipeline.

Cons

Quite drab UX, not remarkable and fairly basic functionality.

### "Scale and prospects"

November 22, 2018

5.0

Pros

A characteristic feature of the platform is the presence of a large number of built-in functions and the timely release of updates; there is access to HTML and PHP code, which allows you to easily adjust all parameters to suit your needs. In fact, if necessary, I can personally edit the program code and add the missing functionality. Of course, if you have no programming skills, it will be practically impossible to correct or edit the functionality.

Cons

The application is quite demanding on computer resources, so it makes no sense to use to create a simple site. There is no direct interaction with 1C, but there is an extension that eliminates this problem.

### "Overall A Great PHP Ecommerce App"

January 18, 2018

5.0

Pros

I have in development, project manager over 4 years (enterprise level). The Magento core is designed such a way you virtually can do anything with it. What i liked most about magento is that most of the common ecommerce functionalities are built it, and it save you a lot of money and time.

Cons

I am happy that M2 has been out for last few years. I wish there was a easy option to switch code from M1 to M2. M2 is a platform change, and requires me to rebuilt. I am sure somebody will create a module soon.

### "Very flexible e-commerce platform"

May 5, 2018

4.0

Pros

Magento is one of the most used e-commerces platform and it offers a huge amount of templates and plugins to choose. So it's a solid choice if you need to build your own e-commerce.

Cons

It's rather difficult to develop custom themes, it's the major factor that makes us choose other solutions instead of Magento.
