### "A dependable tool for my studies, career, and daily documentation"

June 28, 2026

5.0

Microsoft Word has been an essential part of my academic and professional journey. I have used it throughout my physiotherapy studies, exam preparation, and later while rebuilding my career after moving from India to Canada. It helped me create organized notes, write assignments, prepare resumes, and document clinical information in a structured way. During my exam preparation, it was especially helpful for making clear study notes that I could revise easily. Even in my professional work, I continue to use it for writing reports and maintaining documentation. It has always been a reliable tool that supports both learning and work in a very practical way.

Pros

What I personally like most about Microsoft Word is how it helped me stay organized during important phases of my life, especially when I was preparing for my physiotherapy exam and didn’t have access to physical books. I could easily type, highlight, and structure my notes in a way that made studying easier. It also helped me create professional resumes and documents when I was applying for jobs in Canada, which gave me confidence during my career transition. The formatting tools made my work look clean and professional, even when I was still learning how things work in a new country.

Cons

From my personal experience, one challenge was that it felt overwhelming at the beginning because there are many features and options, and it took time for me to learn them properly. Also, sometimes formatting can shift unexpectedly, which was frustrating when I was working on important documents like resumes or study notes. Another limitation is that full access requires a subscription, which can feel expensive when you are just starting a new life and career in a new country.

### "My Experience with Microsoft Word"

July 3, 2026

5.0

Overall, my experience with Microsoft Word has been excellent. It is my preferred word processing application because it is reliable, easy to use, and offers a comprehensive set of features for creating professional documents. Whether I am writing academic papers, preparing course materials, or creating other documents, Microsoft Word consistently meets my needs and makes my work more efficient.

Pros

What I like most about Microsoft Word is its wide range of formatting and editing features, which make it easy to create professional-looking documents. I also appreciate how reliable and user-friendly it is, allowing me to organize my work efficiently. Features such as spell check, templates, styles, and track changes make Word especially useful for both my academic and professional writing.

Cons

I do not have any significant complaints about Microsoft Word. I find it reliable, easy to use, and well suited for my personal, academic, and professional needs. Its extensive features and consistent performance make it my preferred word processing application.

Switched from

[Google Docs](https://www.capterra.com/p/160756/Google-Docs/)

I switched from Google Docs to Microsoft Word because I found Word to be more reliable and easier to use. I experienced fewer issues accessing my documents, and I prefer Word’s wider range of formatting, editing, and document design features. Since I frequently create academic and professional documents, Microsoft Word better meets my needs and helps me work more efficiently.

### "Unreliable and shouldn't be trusted "

September 24, 2025

1.0

It used to be very good but now that this saving issue is occurring, using MS word it is the most frustrating and problematic issue in my professional life. I deal with other people's frustrating and complicated problems for a living so this is really saying a lot.

Pros

Right now nothing. I don't know if this is from a recent update but the save function has become completely unreliable. Auto save is turned on and I always save my changes before closing my documents. Word has been actually saving my changes about 50% of the time. As a result, I have had to do about 10-15 hours of unnecessary additional work in the past two days. I have to save every change I make with "save as" and give it a new name. I'm an attorney, and need to open a document anywhere from 5-20 times to make small adjustments and drafting changes. This is problem impractical and unacceptable.

Cons

That I pay money for a program that is incredibly unreliable with a basic task like saving changes. This program has cost me tens of thousands of dollars in billable hours over the past two days due to the amount of work I have had to repeat.

### "1. Best tool for official documents and office work (already tested and approved)"

May 14, 2026

5.0

I use it this every single day in the Legislative Office. It helps me encode and organize all documents fast. I also use it when preparing drafts for RATA every end of the month and load allowance submissions every two months to the Budget Office. It is reliable, simple, and perfect for government work.

Pros

1\. Very easy to format official documents like resolutions, ordinances, minutes, and committe reports-output looks professional and neat. 2. Auto-save and spell check features keep my work safe and accurate, no risk of losing files. 3. Easy to share via email or online drive when other offices request documents.

Cons

Sometimes it loads a bit slow when opening very long files with many tables or images; also, formatting changes a little when copy-pasting from other tools.

Switched from

[WPS Office](https://www.capterra.com/p/126794/WPS-Office/)

WPS Office had limited formatting options, and some official templates required for government documents did not display correctly. Google docs depended too much internet connection, and formatting often changed or got messy when downloading or printing files which is a big problem for resolution, ordinances, and minutes that need to follow strick standards.

### "Microsoft Word Review: Simple, Powerful, and Easy to Use"

June 6, 2026

5.0

In terms of value for money, it feels worth it since it is included with Microsoft 365 along with other helpful apps. For customer support, Microsoft provides online help guides and troubleshooting tools that usually solve common problems. For collaboration, and teamwork Word works really well because multiple people can edit the same document at the same time through OneDrive. The process and workflow are also smooth because features like auto-save, spell check, and formatting tools help reduce mistakes and keep documents organized while saving time.

Pros

What I like most about Microsoft Word is that it makes writing and editing documents easy. The spellcheck and formatting tools help make my work look organized as well.

Cons

I have used Microsoft Word since 2007, and I can't think of a single con regarding this software. It's good!

### "Microsoft word is worth the money "

June 25, 2026

5.0

Microsoft word is a great place to type of documents of any sort and be able to get your words down out of your mind and on to a sheet of digital paper

Pros

One of the pros on Microsoft word is it has deep editing tools and capabilities that I am able to take advantage of

Cons

I liked least the fact that it has a higher subscription cost than other free alternatives that are out there

### "Word - Same as it ever was, but steadily even better"

July 15, 2026

5.0

Word is THE regular go-to when attempting to accomplish anything within the realm of word processing, and beyond. Essentially, if words are involved in what you're attempting to create, Word can handle it.

Pros

The functionality and options within the app has improved both in number and in quality and consistency over time, with very few gaps left to be filled.

Cons

Perhaps as a side effect of offering so much functionality, sometimes it's hard to - without searching online or within the built-in help - actually find where and/or how to do something within the app itself.

### "My Go-To Writing Software for Everything"

July 6, 2026

5.0

Microsoft Word has consistently been one of the most reliable and feature-rich writing programs I've used. It is beginner-friendly and powerful enough for professional work. I appreciate how flexible it is, allowing me to customize documents exactly how I want while offering tools that go far beyond simple typing. I've even used it for basic image placement and document design when I didn't want to open another program. It's a program I rely on and one that continues to meet my needs year after year.

Pros

Microsoft Word has been my go-to writing software for years! I use it for almost everything. It's incredibly easy to use while also offering a huge range of advanced features when you need them. I love how customizable it is, from formatting styles and templates to page layouts and keyboard shortcuts (you can also add more tools to the toolbar by allowing Developer mode). Whether I'm writing documents, creating resumes, planning projects, or drafting content, Word has all the tools I need. I also appreciate that it's versatile enough for basic image editing and layout work, such as resizing, cropping, arranging graphics, and creating simple visual documents without needing separate design software.

Cons

The only downside is that some advanced features can take time to learn, and the subscription cost may not be worthwhile for people who only need basic word processing. Large documents with lots of images can also become a bit sluggish and images can shift all over the place if you're not careful when adding new images/charts in or editing.

### "Microsoft Word Still Worth It"

May 27, 2026

5.0

Even though its trajectory has been very long, Microsoft Word is still very useful and pretty much "holds its own", especially with respect to daily use.

Pros

Have used Microsoft Word as a word processing program for over three decades now, for both personal and business use with very positive results. For example, using hyperlinks (clickable element that allows readers to jump directly to another location within the same document) are very useful, particularly with large documents like manuscripts, SOPs, protocols, etc.

Cons

More complex uses (for example large indexing of terminology/nomenclature) need to be learned prior to executing, to avoid any unintentional errors that may affect the final version of the document(s).

### "Using Microsoft Word for My College Assignments "

June 30, 2026

5.0

I really enjoyed using the app during my college years. However, I did not like the idea of a cost that was associated with using that app.

Pros

I like using Microsoft Word because you can do so many things with the app. You can edit, save, share, and so much more with the app.

Cons

After using it free for so long, I was discouraged when I found out you had to pay for it. So I began using a different program.

### "Break free from the creative stranglehold that Word exerts"

April 20, 2026

5.0

Decades of creative intertia and inefficient workflow, upended by barely using it now. Writing in Markdown is a joy, which Word cannot match.

Pros

Dear old Microsoft Word. I used to be mildly seduced by the busy looking ribbon, crammed full of useful tools and funky 'stuff'. The latest version is fine, it integrates with cloud storage services well, it allows easy sharing with colleagues and it is dead simple to use. The formatting tools are all there, some more tucked away than others, so that you can jazz up any document. It is a big and meaty instrument, that is reliable, familiar and works across the whole corporate and public sector world.

Cons

Those very same attributes above (a creaking weight of formatting tools, the repetition and the way everyone has it), really is Word's downfall too. It hinders and grinds down any hint of writing flow. As soon as you type it begs for your attention, in an incessant need to format. That stops the writing flow. Which increases the temptation to for at tinker some more and on the decidedly unvirtuous loop goes. Visually it is busy, distracting, cumbersome and so staid as to be stupifyibgly boring. The choice of fonts is seemingly neverending and mind numbingly dull at the same time. And therein lies the problem; it's easier to acquiese into it's rigid formatting needs than to run hard to jump back on your train of creative thought.

### "I'll always use Microsoft Word"

May 11, 2026

5.0

It is dependable, easy to use, and flexible enough for both simple documents and more detailed professional work. The formatting, editing, and collaboration tools make it useful for daily business tasks and document management.

Pros

What I like most about Microsoft Word is how easy it is to create professional documents quickly. It’s reliable, user-friendly, and works well for everything from simple notes to detailed business reports.

Cons

What I like least about Microsoft Word is that frequent updates sometimes change menus and formatting tools, which can slow down workflow and make familiar features harder to find.

Overall, my experience with Microsoft Word has been very positive. It’s reliable, user-friendly, and one of the best tools for creating professional documents, reports, and letters.

Pros

Cons

### "Well-Rounded Document Tool"

May 7, 2026

5.0

Word is better than any of the alternatives in my experience. It is pricey, but you pay for a functionality that makes work easy!

Pros

Microsoft word is functional on the desktop and web version. While the desktop is perhaps more familiar and better ux, they work interchangeably. Easy to have team collaboration by tracking changes and comments as well.

Cons

I dislike the price point... I have thought Microsoft software has been priced extremely high that if it wasn't covered by a corporation, it would be tough to stomach.

### "Great software for creating a wide range of documents"

April 27, 2026

5.0

Great piece of software, I use Microsoft Word on a daily basis to create reports and other work related documents. I find Copilot really useful.

Pros

Easy to create a range of documents with the ability to adapt it to company colours and templates. Widely used within our organisation and have been personally using Word for approximately 25 years. The menu is easy to navigate and there is a help option available to find functions you need. The Copilot function is a great addition to the software, it can help draft documents, review documents and give suggestions on how to word important documents professionally .

Cons

Sometimes images and text boxes don't behave when moved, but this is more of a user error rather than the software.

### "The Universal Writing Software"

March 10, 2026

5.0

Overall, its great for writing letters, drafting emails and blogs. I also use it to write scripts. At my previous jobs I have used it for doctor's notes and appraisal reports. I assume everyone uses it with almost any professional carrer.

Pros

I love how easy it is to write professional letters and documents. They are easy to save, and save as a pdf, print and attach to emails. Word is my go-to program for any writing other than emails.

Cons

Since it has been my go-to source for writing my entire life, its annoying that you have to pay for it on every computer you own. When i want to open a document on my laptop while im out and about it will not let me edit since I do not have microsoft on that computer.

### "Microsoft word review"

May 4, 2026

5.0

Overall, my experience with Microsoft Word has been very positive. It’s a dependable and professional tool that makes creating documents simple and efficient. While there can be occasional formatting frustrations, the wide range of features and reliability outweigh the downsides. It works well for everything from basic letters to more detailed reports, and I feel confident using it for both personal and professional projects. Overall, it’s a solid program that consistently gets the job done.

Pros

What I like most about Microsoft Word is how easy and reliable it is to use for all types of documents. Whether I’m writing a quick letter, creating a detailed report, or formatting a professional proposal, Word has all the tools I need in one place. The formatting options are simple to navigate, and I really appreciate features like templates, spell check, grammar suggestions, and the ability to easily insert tables and images. It saves me time and helps my documents look clean and professional every time. Overall, it’s a dependable program that makes writing and editing much more efficient.

Cons

What I like least about Microsoft Word is that some of the advanced formatting features can feel overwhelming or confusing at times. When documents have complex layouts, spacing or formatting can shift unexpectedly and take extra time to fix. I also find that certain tools are buried in menus, which can make them harder to find if you don’t use them often. Additionally, the subscription cost can be a downside compared to free alternatives. While it’s a powerful program, it can sometimes feel more complicated than necessary for simple tasks.

### "Microsoft Word - document solutions for all businesses (small, medium or large)"

January 7, 2026

5.0

Overall I would say our experience with Word is very good - it has made things easier to document and look back on for records for our courses and what classes each member took.

Pros

Ease of use for creating word documents with our team. We use it to record our registrations and also use it to quote pricing for our courses.

Cons

No real complaints for MS Word - the only thing that happens sometimes is formatting changes when opening Word files on different devices or converting to other formats like PDF. This can be a pain when using a mobile device to view etc.

### "Perfect writing tool."

February 8, 2026

5.0

In general my experience with Microsoft Word is excellent. This software is very useful and perfect in every aspect, apart the cost, too high in my opinion.

Pros

Microsoft word is the best writing tool I ever tried. It's easy to use and to navigate, with smooth process and workflow. The templete and the task traking are functional and well-made. The customer support is as efficient as any other Microsoft product's. Microsoft Word lacks of free version and it's part of a suite that cost some amount of money, not cheap at all.

Cons

The cost is quite high, and sometimes people prefer to choose a free tool, like Apache open office, to save some money.

5.0

I have been using Microsoft Word for 15+ years. I am so glad that we used it so much throughout school (elementary-college) because it has honestly been so beneficial throughout my entire life. In the workplace, we use it for just about everything.

Pros

Microsoft word is a very easy product to use. We use it everyday, all day. Even with updates, it is easy to navigate. Every update they make seems to add great features, but still keep it simplistic enough to be user friendly.

Cons

### "Microsoft Word"

April 1, 2026

4.0

Microsoft Word combines essential tools and a user-friendly design that really enhances my writing experience. I definitely recommend it for anyone looking to make their documents stand out while collaborating efficiently with others!

Pros

I’ve been using Microsoft Word for quite some time now, and I have to say, it really stands out for its formatting capabilities. The Styles feature is a game-changer, especially when you want your document to look polished with just a few clicks. I love how you can easily apply consistent fonts and headings throughout your work without any hassle.

Cons

One major issue I've noticed is that it slows down a lot when you're working with larger files. I was pretty frustrated when I was trying to edit a document with a lot of images and formatting—everything just lagged, and it made the whole process more annoying than it needed to be
