Painless transition, cost is manageable, and accessibility online - cannot beat that! Pros I love that MS 365 is in the cloud ... if we lose electricity, network is down, server is fried, etc. I can still access emails and keep things rolling. February 25, 2019 5.0 My overall experience with Office 365 has been positive and I expect that I will be continuing to use it for a very long time. I have always used Microsoft Office for as long as I can remember and so I definitely like how Microsoft is also changing with the times and making good updates to their products. Pros What I really like about Office 365 is definitely how it's so timeless. Whether it was a decade ago or now, it is still used all across the world. I really like how Microsoft updated their Microsoft Office package to now be included in Office 365, which helps to create documents in the cloud so that they no longer have to be saved in a computer. This is great and makes it more competitive to Google Drive as well! Cons While I definitely like how Microsoft now has given the option of users saving their documents in the cloud through Office 365, what I still dislike about this software is that there is still no way to collaborate with peers or colleagues on a document when working on a project together. This is a feature that is available on Google Drive and I would definitely like to see it on Office 365 in the future too! It has the full fledge of office products that you would ever need for any business. Having all the products is also great because if you get the online licenses you can have single sign on and be able to access all your documents whether that be Excel documents or PowerPoints or OneNote and have that so available online and synced up to all your devices which now in this day in age is really a must have. Having services all available to all employees and online provide a level of collaboration which has never been seen before. Office 365 is really the need of every business out there, and if you are on another platform I'm really not sure how you are able to function as a company that is really striving for big things. I also guess that office 365 should be for bigger companies since small businesses may not need all these bells and whistles. It is great for those of us who are constantly in an office that is fast pace and on the move. It those moments when a document needs to be sent somewhere in the next 15 minutes and you are not next to your computer but you have your smartphone or device in front of you. Just upload and send. Cons Depending on the smart device you own Outlook 365 integration can be a little tricky especially if you are using an IMAP or POP server. But if you are aware of this and know all of the server diagnostic information you should be able to bypass any issues. Sharing files is now easy with Office 365 since it integrates with applications like Skype for business and Microsoft Teams. Pros Firstly, I like everything about Office 365 from design to interface. The fact that Office 365 is accessible on any device, makes me to like it more than on-premise solution. The best thing about this tool is that it is more than just Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. In fact, Office 365 offers more essential services like online storage and teamwork solutions. I like using Office 365, particularly Excel Online since I work from anywhere there is stable internet connection. That way, I am in a better situation to forward invoices even when I am not within organization premises. Office 365 integrates with other essential tools like Skype for business, which brings resorces and team together even when they are not together. Pros Ultimately, Excel in a browser is the biggest selling point for Office 365 for me over G Suite. The data analysis functions I need to perform, although replicated in Google sheets, don't equal the ease of using Excel in 365, and also being able to jump into the desktop Excel app. Having a lightweight version to quickly pull data,and a desktop application is invaluable. Having previously used g suite in my personal life and previous companies I'm pleasantly surprised by how snappy word and PowerPoint feel. So ultimately it comes down to excel, quicker use than the desktop office suite, and the broad array of features I feel are lacking in G Suite, which I think is the most comparable software service. Cons User interface feels disorganized and cluttered. Where as g suite feels too minimal, office 365 has a bevy of features, and occasionally it's difficult to find the specific function I need. January 16, 2021 5.0 It was a good choice to start buying the Office package. So far, no regrets. I have recommended it as much as possible to my co-workers, as I see that many people use it clandestinely and do not even know the resources available. Pros I highlight as positive points the convenience of having several resources in a single subscription; the package has integration with the file cloud (Onedrive); to know that even if my device (computer or smartphone) is corrupted, my files will be safe; with each update, the commands have proven to be easier to assimilate and the resources more objective, without the need for the user to have to know shortcuts to get what he wants. Cons There are few negative points, thanks to user interaction via support. However, sometimes bugs do occur that cause Onedrive to disconnect and files not to be synchronized. There is also a lack of more online templates, there are few available and specifically in PowerPoint, it is not possible to modify it except colors and fonts. Pros What I like most is that the software when tied to your OneDrive account automatically saves your work as you type. No more lost data. The other aspect I like most about this software is that I can open a word document or another spreadsheet on my laptop, iPad, and a phone to view or edit a file. I can also log into my OneDrive account and edit documents via a web app based in a Chrome browser. Cons The only aspect of this software that I do not like is that you can’t have multiple people working on the same file at once. As offered it is a stellar product with a trap door that casts users and IT staff into anti-productivity blackness. Pros This is a viable contender to Google's G-Suite. It offers a smoother transition from the old Microsoft desktop world of programs. Cons In offering a transition from the old world, Microsoft adds a compatibility layer that accommodates desktop apps while at the same time providing cloud/SAAS versions of the tools. Herein lies the hazard. The cloud/SAAS shift offers great opportunity to simplify the Byzantine features and controls that grew like tumors on desktop applications. They are the very things that users obsess over and spend a lot of their time adjusting, managing, customizing... wasting time on. Those "features" drown employees, who in turn are rescued by IT staff. It is a cost multiplier. I spent entirely too much time recreating the desktop environments, Outlook being the worst, because employees wanted to click on a familiar icon and experience exactly what they experienced prior to their move to Office 365. With that completed, everyone is happy and they have no interest in exploring the cloud, not even to share files. They still use thumb drives. I'm sure other work environs are different, but I'm just as sure that what I just experienced is not unique. I see this as Microsoft's missed opportunity to do the job right. Instead, they chose to milk the legacy cow at the cost of impeded future progress. I did have to spend the first year and a half in higher education to learn how to use the software. Lol! Pros I currently use 365's email application, outlook the most. Since I've recently been through higher education and now work in higher education, I've used all of 365's applications. Having so many tools at the tip of your fingers helped me to be successful in my endeavors. I also found extreme usefulness in Microsoft's collaboration with Adobe to be able to work with documents easily as well. Cons I just feel that it's frustrating to constantly have to pay a subscription service to access software for the rest of my life. If you don't pay the bill, you don't have your documents.
