Cons Software updates on macOS are cumbersome. The updater software itself requires updates almost comically often, and update sizes are large, sometimes for seemingly small updates (in terms of functionality). There are some UI bugs in Excel that have gone unfixed for some time and are causing problems in our workflow. The online admin interface for the Outlook/Exchange services is, I'm sure, great for huge organisations with very complex and specific needs. For smaller companies, it's not only overkill, but rather unintuitive and clunky. The actual web implementation also needs work. Review Source SA Samer A. Pros Office Suite has always been - and for the moment continues to be - the gold standard against which other productivity software is compared. Using Google Docs or the Mac alternatives always feels clunky by comparison. It's clear that a lot of though has been put into an intuitive user interface and a host of very powerful features - particularly in Excel. Cons It's way, way too expensive, particularly given that almost all competitive software is free. Even with nonprofit discounts, office suite costs a lot, and Office 365 means you can't just get a license but have to keep paying a monthly "subscription" forever. I've also noticed a lot of lag and some buggy behavior after updating our work computers to the latest version of MacOS. Former Program Manager Non-Profit Organization Management Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Excellent for doing business away from the office" December 11, 2018 5.0 I was the program manager at a homeless shelter and we purchased Office 365 to upgrade our tech for our staff of 10. Pros It was very convenient to have access to the Microsoft programs I used for work from my home computer. The email hosting was probably my favorite feature though. Before my agency started using Office 365 we didn't have the control over the email features that Office 365 allows. For example we weren't able to set up our own auto reply emails when we were away. Everything had to go through our administrator. This was really inconvenient especially when they forgot to turn off auto reply when we returned from vacation and we missed important work emails. Office 365 puts enough control in the hands of the user that they don't have to reply on the administrator for simple changes. It is very helpful to be able to easily access work emails from any computer and easily set up work emails to come to a smart phone. As an administrator its easy to add to users and change passwords when they invariably forget them. Office 365 made our agency much more effective and efficient. Cons I wished in contained full versions of the Office Products. I wasn't able to use some of the features I wanted in Excel because it wasn't a the full version. Review Source Jeffrey P. Unification of our internal teams. Pros Office365 allows for very simple access to an ever-growing catalog of software and services. They reduce all barriers to entry. They offer many simple ways to pay for the services that grow your business. Every company can benefit from at least one of the many services they provide. Cons Sometimes, support can be daunting if one's issue doesn't fit the boilerplate of level 1 helpdesk. Some changes are forced down without a choice from the end customer, but this is not unique of Office365's cloud. Rapid changes to the product and evolution sometimes makes it difficult to find the correct documentation. Review Source WP Walter P. Exec VP International Trade and Development Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Very good product if you are a Word/Excel user but very expensive" February 21, 2020 4.0 As usual there is a relatively lengthy learning curve and a lot of frustration due to the very poor or non-existent customer service from Microsoft. One has to spend more money to obtain books that explain all of the different reiterations that Microsoft comes up with, and Microsoft will NEVER provide a comprehensive and readable manual for any of their products. They only want your money on a regular basis. Pros We have used Word and Excel for years and have tried other products from a half dozen free and paid-for competitive products. The competition is just not the same ease of use and quality. Cons The bundle is just not worth the price considering that we only use Word and Excel. The constant changes and revisions make to product much more difficult to use than in the past as there is always a learning curve. Microsoft does not make it easy for the customer. Their support is virtually non-existent and one actually has to rely on outside help to get the better, but not best, support. The functionality of the 2 products we use has, in our our opinion, deteriorated over time because of all the additions, deletions, and manipulations of the software. Members of my team are all able to access and work on online sheets at t that I create at the same time ..without any hassle. Hence I am getting the benefits of Portability and Speed of execution and time saving. Pros The fact that you are able to use the online versions of some of the most amazing tools such as word and excel is the best aspect of Office 365. Pros Everything in the suite is geared towards a professional business worker and is polished and sharp. I really like the free office 365 suite you can download as a part of the deal. Cons The collaboration tools do not quiet measure up to googles when multiple users are working on the same document. It has improved but not quite the same. Document creation, editing, sharing is pretty user-friendly and perfectly optimized for team collaboration. Also synchronizes greatly with the local microsoft programs that run in your computer so that you can reflect the changes to the cloud directly from your desktop programs. Cons Although it worth the payment, pricing is still way too high. Also the balance between the monthly plans and the yearly plans is not optimized. Again, I am use to the various versions. Pros I grew up with the MS software so it is ingrained in me. I can navigate around the office to create what it is I need. I don't have many complaints. Cons I wish their were more online downloadable options in MS word and other platforms to fit today's business needs. I would like various formats that seem professional vs the standard fax sheet but I am being picky. I accidentally paid for the $99.00 plan and I do not see this being $99 a year. I wish they would also keep the same format in programs. I.E. MS Word's format for creating double sided half sheet pages are different from version to version. Knock it off. My organization is spread out over many locations and this provides us with a great way to feel more connected when working on projects. Pros Office 365 provides quick and easy online access to all Microsoft Office platforms (Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Word, Teams, Outlook, etc.). One simple log-in allows me to immediately access my documents from any device. One of the other great features is the ability to collaborate on a document with members of your team in live time. You can see the edits that others are making and there is no worry about saving over each others edits. Cons On rare occasions when using the online interface, I will have internet connectivity issues that cause me to lose some of my work. I have migrated Exchange to Exchange online and do not hesitate to recommend the cloud for email management! Have found some of the Azure alerts to be helpful in understanding if accounts have been compromised. Pros Using Microsoft E3, I am amazed at how much it contains, beyond just Office 365. We are starting use of E5 inclusions, like Power BI which is powerful and intuitive. The security features in E5 are compelling for cloud components. Cons It is a lot to understand and figure out what is possible, so I have found expert consulting can go a long way to launching new functions like InTune or how to best configure components like DLP policies. " March 31, 2020 5.0 Overall, our experience has been positive. As a member of our team who uses multiple Office 365 features daily, I really enjoy and find value in it. Planning meetings, creating presentations, and organizing communication with team members is all made easy for us with this program. I expect our company will continue using Office 365 for many years to come. Pros My favorite part of the office 365 program is the way that it allows our individual and collective communications streamlined. We use a lot of Outlook email, Teams, SharePoint, OneNote, and OneDrive. These applications make our internal communication and document sharing easy and fluid. Also, it was easy to implement across the company, it is easy to use, and it is easy to set up when we have new team members. Cons Some times it feels like there are too many options. Between OneNote, SharePoint, and OneDrive, some file storage can become redundant. This can make locating files a bit difficult. However, I will say that it is nice to have the options, it just feel like there may be too many options for file storage. I suppose too much of a good thing can be too much of a good thing. May 3, 2024 1.0 I have used many version of Microsoft Word and never really had problems until this 365 which has been an ongoing problem. The forums are full of people have the same problems I am. Microsoft needs to get some people in to identify the problems and FIX THEM! Pros Nothing right now, but having access to Excel, powerpoint is important. Cons Word has so many glitches. We received a package that covers 5 of our computers - the ones that needed the programs - and it was very easy to set up each one with our Key #. From documents to spreadsheets to presentations Office 365 has covered all the bases. Cons There isn't very reliable/available support if needed, but this isn't so much a con because we rarely, if ever at all, need assistance with the programs. Pros Functionality for MS office 365 keeps getting better and better, plus I love the collaborative capabilities it has now. We were really able to take advantage of the live document updates and keep our crews current on details without printing and redoing and merging documents. Cons It can be a bit complicated for users, especially if they're not familiar with MS Office.
