Pros I like Viva Engage because, as a Software Programmer, I use many Microsoft products and Viva is at their nexus. Viva allows me to pose questions which can be seen and answered by other programmers at numerous company locations all over the world. Cons The interface is somewhat cluttered. Permissions are all to often set, such that postings which aren't within the purview of a given forum get in, and lead to time wasted sifting thru them. Review Source PS Parvez S. It allows people to get recognition and to share ideas. Furthermore, as a user you can have your own page where you can put your thoughts and ideas, allowing people to comment and discuss. The best part of it, is that you don't have adverts like you would have on social media pages, and hence you are able to keep everything very professional. It's just so easy to use. Pros Viva Engage is totally compatible with Microsoft Outlook and MS Teams and can be pinned as an app in the side bar, which means that a user can easily swap between those apps to make a post and return to their normal work. Cons When making a post where an image is included, it would be great if the user could adjust where the image will fit in the text, to give more purpose to the image. Under utilization actually proves quite a challenge. I feel like this is the kind of software you could use every day or never use at all, and it really becomes incumbent upon the corporate culture to adopt it as a tool. With the current generational gaps at my company, it can be a challenge to engage either the less tech-savvy or the more jaded youth whom already live on several platforms outside of work. Pros Yammer is a fantastic way for employees from disparate roles to interact and share common interests. Often, these interests can benefit the business just as much as the employees. My favorite Yammer group is the 'Free Courseware' group started by someone who thought it would be great to compile a list of services that range from Coursera to MIT Open Coursework to Alison to W3 Schools. Cons As a social media-esque software, it relies on users heavily interacting. This can at time be distracting without any real guidance or weigh-in from management. If your leaders don't make a point to engage users on the platform it can quickly become a desert. February 8, 2024 5.0 I would describe Yammer as a user friendly software which is affordable and secure for everyone. Pros Yammer is a software that brings a unique bond in our day to day interaction. Working together in one peace has always been my greatest desire. Yammer helped me to implement this since it creates a platform where ideas are exchanged, discussion and negotiations are also done in an orderly manner leaving everyone contented. The performance has risen gradually bringing more hope and motivation to achieve more. Cons It was not easy for us as a team to implement the tool especially in formation of groups and adding new members. However, after a thorough consultation internally, we sorted things fast and it is a great tool. And the similar colours of the program make it hard to differentiate what feed/channel you are on. It's not my choice of software for internal company communications. Pros I enjoy the ability to create different channels to segregate topics. Cons The feed is very overwhelming, and it's easy to miss posts. I also find some the apps doesn't register that you'd read something so it shows it to you twice. I also don't like that there is an ability to alert the entire team with your posts- it gets over utilised and clogs up your msg box. Instead I feel they should stay within the channels just perhaps highlight thoa channels red and urgent rather than sending a msg to the inbox. This way, I was able to recognize the loopholes on the overall performance which gave me a chance to make the necessary adjustments. We deal with some secure information so the info and document sharing within our secure private network is seriously outstanding.So many things you can do to interact and engage. Cons Don't quite like the community's feature. Seems lacking in my opinion, but I will explore it more as I evolve with this product. It works with different operation systems (I use it with Windows only). Cons 1\. Wiki pages stopped working a few times. I don't know why. 2. UI is pretty old. I think it should be updated. We have some teams that use Microsoft Viva Engage a lot, and we have others that have never heard of it. Encouraging using the tool is essential, and training your team on how to use the interface would be important. Pros It is good to stay informed about company updates. I like that we receive email updates directly about new information or posts. Cons Since there are so many people updating the tool across a large organization, not everyone uses the tool. Quality Insurance Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Great for Community Enagement " August 26, 2022 4.0 Overall, for a larger company I would recommend Yammer, it can sync well with all your Microsoft products and it is a fast and efficient way to spread a message to a large amount of employees at the same time! Yammer can hold the messages, documents, trainings, videos so that you can still review them at your leisure as a user and still participate in the comments! I will say that if you are watching a live feed and trying to keep up with the comments and questions being posted, that can be a little tricky- maybe a bit delayed at times, but don't worry all the posts will be saved to review at a later time! If you have a smaller office, this may not be as beneficial, so if it is a monetary investment for your company but you have a small group, there maybe another product with Microsoft, like Teams, that may work better or even steering away from Microsoft products there are many other products that could be used, but would not be great for larger groups! Pros This is a great software to get everyone in the company (or community) involved! You can post updates to share company wide and all of those who have joined Yammer can not only access the details, attachments and/or videos attached, but the users can also comment and hold conversations about the topics posted. This system will also house documents, training, videos, company updates, polls, monthly updates, even just fun community chats (non business related)! I would recommend this product as a good way to keep LARGE companies "in the know" across the company- a great way to share updates and information with a large company. I am a big fan of all Microsoft products, but for a small company I do not know that adding the extra investment would be monetarily beneficial- as there are smaller systems that would work just as well on a smaller scale! Cons The only con that I have experience is more of a "user settings" I would love to be able to exclude myself from several emails that I receive on what seems like a daily basis, however I have found a work around to just route the emails to a non-important folder until I do have time to review them! The only other hard thing that I have noticed when it comes to Yammer is when/if you are watching a "live feed" it can be a little confusing to keep up with the most recent comments/questions being posted while the feed it continuing. I am a regular in-house contributor. I've learned a lot about what my colleagues do in their jobs and also how our company operates. Without it, my idea of the company's operations and how we function would be greatly diminished. Pros It's so easy to use and to disseminate information clearly and quickly throughout the company. One can do this globally to all employees, regionally to employees, or by the site to the selected individuals who work there. Communication is in real-time and it's simple to respond to. It's an open forum that is available for all to use and it allows views to be conveyed and shared with others which initiate further debate and discussion. Has always proven to be reliable and always available. Cons There really is nothing to dislike. It has allowed us to better communicate, collaborate, celebrate, support, and feel more connected with one another. It really helps us feel like more than just colleagues but genuine friends. It's like our own personal Facebook! Pros I love how easy they make everything and how it makes us all feel more connected. One of my favorite features is the praise feature. It's nice to be able to give people praise when they have done something to help you out and congratulate the sales team when they make a sale. I also like the poll and question features. It makes it so easy to get feedback from across our company. We also have the birthday feature in ours. It is so nice to be able to tell people "Happy Birthday" makes them feel a little extra special. Cons I really do not have any cons to this software. Pros Yammer is like a social media tool for workers in my company to interact with each other. We tried it out in 2016 and we never looked back. Company update can be sent to all members just like using an email, while documents, images and videos can be shared within it. It is cheap, sign up is free and have good customer support. You can easily join a group or create a group depending on what you want. Yammer helped me find information and get help by reading articles that were written by experts on difficult jobs within the organization. I only have to search for it. Yammer made me more productive with timely useful conversations and interaction from my colleague across the company best hands. I could also easily see what is happening within the organization at all times because of the synchronized updates. I can use yammer even when am out of the office because of their Android app. Additionally, Yammer works very well with office 365 which is not a surprise since it is built by Microsoft. Cons Yammer is too strict on 3rd party adverts within their platform. It is not widely popular and people just tend to disregard it. The learning curve for yammer use to be very low but recent additions and innovations somehow made it a bit steep for newbies. yammer work more like a social media platform rather a corporate tool with the many innovations been added to it The interface is too rigid for my liking. December 8, 2022 5.0 Pros Yammer fits in perfectly as a social network platform for colleagues to engage across departments or branches. Some of the best things I loved in my experience using the platform is that it is generally connected to Office 365 services, making it easy to share my files from my OneDrive with colleagues, create spreadsheets with the collaboration with others and work as a team. Another great thing about Yammer is its I can choose how I want to communicate with its two functionalities where i can either create a chat channel to communicate with specific audience or a general section where i can post and all colleagues participate in post I make. Cons Overall is it an amazing platform, my only concerns are that it is not a popular application among many employees and also there is no way of controlling posts made by some colleagues. From celebrating milestone employee birthdays and announcing new hires to promoting newsletter content and collecting charitable donations across the enterprise, Yammer is great for casual announcements. Serious announcements, urgent communications and PR are still best distributed via email. But Yammer is scalable to your company. It can be as streamlined or intricate as you choose. Pros Yammer is modelled after social networking platforms, both from function and UI standpoints. So if you can use Facebook, you'll instantly feel comfortable on Yammer. Think of it as a social intranet - post companywide updates and photos, hold contests, have team-specific chats or channels to cut down on inbox clutter, and promote a culture that's both full and well-informed at your office. Yammer allows polls, and you can set up email notifications to make sure you don't miss anything that might be of interest to you. Cons Yammer's social function is still a bit lacking, and it doesn't integrate as seamlessly with Office 365 as I'd like. Be sure that your company is thoughtful about what should be communicated on Yammer, and what should still be sent via email. Adoption by other employees was a challenge for us, as it can feel like just anotjher platform to have to check on a daily basis. I did receive feedback from several colleagues along the lines of "I already check my email. It's easier to have all communications go though Outlook. First thing I can say is that, is this like Facebook? But when I progress browsing further, I said it is different in a good way. I can see updates from my colleagues abroad, first time seeing their faces as well. From then on, I open Yammer every day to see their updates and other company news. Pros It's like Facebook, we can post, we comment, and we can interact not only with colleagues in our country but in other countries as well. We get to see their country updates and news. We get to congratulate everyone on their achievements well. Good thing also is the creation of community, it's like a group we can create then we can share anything on this group. Cons So far, none. Everything's good. Easy and convenient to use. No problems encountered to date.
