Overall, my experience with Power Automate has been very strong. It is one of those tools that can save a lot of time once you start using it for everyday business processes. I liked being able to automate follow-ups, approvals, notifications, and simple workflows instead of relying on manual emails or spreadsheets.

Pros

What I like most about Power Automate is that it makes it much easier to automate repetitive tasks without having to build a full custom application. It works well with Microsoft tools like Outlook, Teams, Excel, and SharePoint, and it is great for approvals, notifications, reminders, and moving information between systems.

Cons

What I like least is that flows can become confusing if they are not documented or organized well. Some connectors and logic steps are easy to start with, but troubleshooting can take time when a flow breaks or when permissions, triggers, or licensing get involved.

All in all its a great tool for eliminating human effort waste and time doing repetitive tasks. Recon to follow the free tutorials found in web for creating a bit more complex flows.

Pros

Very handy for creating enterprise-level automations for eliminating repetitive work on daily routines, which are BAU(business as usual) work. Used it lately to build an email tracker for recording emails received into an Outlook inbox folder to be tracked and copied into a checklist SharePoint Excel sheet. Almost any simple process automation can be modelled with Power Automate.

Cons

Some advanced configurations need more than just the average IT guy to configure and complete. The formulas needs to be understood well for reaping better benefits. Enterprize level automation building will require a well experienced person with the respective industry or domain expertise for developing the flow.

We do appreciate how PowerAutomate has enabled some systems that weren't otherwise available because they'd frozen out Zapier from using Sharepoint as a connector, but the UI needs significant work.

Pros

Power Automate has enabled us to eliminate some busy work and to build out new systems not previously possible.

Cons

Power Automate's UI is lacking. What should be a seamless experience like other automater and integrator tools, has added hours and weeks on to project launches because of the difficultly of the backend.

Alternatives considered

[Zapier](https://www.capterra.com/p/130182/Zapier/)

Reasons for choosing Microsoft Power Automate

We still use Zapier for most automations, but again, Microsoft has limited Zapier from working with Sharepoint.

Microsoft Power Automate is a great RPA tool with a lot of strong features and excellent compatibility with Microsoft applications. I think the tool is easy to use but still lacks in advanced features for developers where other tools like UiPath still offer a stronger product with a lot more power. I believe that Power Automate should lean more into the advanced tools and code integration more than co-pilot which doesn't really save much time compared to making re-usable components manually.

Pros

Microsoft Copilot has improved significantly since last year, but I still find the for complicated automation flows it makes a lot of mistakes and requires corrections. The usability of the tool overall has improved especially for testing. Previously testing was very tedious and slow, but with the new automation center its smoother.

Cons

A lot of the issues are the same as my previous review, but there has definitely been improvements especially with regards to setting time triggers and speed of the application to reach SLA

I find it can be frustrating to troubleshoot when something goes wrong, as error messages aren’t always clear. Some connectors can be unreliable, and more complex automations have a learning curve

Pros

I like Power Automate for its ability to easily automate repetitive tasks and streamline workflows. The integration with Formstack is especially helpful for automating actions based on form submissions, saving time and reducing manual work. It also supports better task management by automatically creating and tracking tasks, helping keep work organized and on schedule.

Cons

Some users find Power Automate can be difficult to troubleshoot when flows fail, as error messages aren’t always clear. Others mention limitations with complex logic, connector reliability, or performance issues with larger workflows. Licensing and premium connectors are also a common concern, as costs can add up. While powerful, it often has a learning curve for more advanced automations and task management scenarios.

it's overall a strong choice for orgs that want to build workflow automations without reliance on code and/or already live inside of 365. It's more effectively for standard business process automation, but starts to fall apart a bit as workflows start to branch out or touch on solutions outside of 365. For simple processes it's very useful and efficient, but may need dedicated tools or knowledge for larger scale automations.

Pros

Very good at connecting repetitive business tasks across 365 and other business services. It can work quite well for approvals and notifications, and simple uncomplicated process automation. For orgs already embedded within the microsoft ecosystem, the native integration and compatibility provides great synergy between automations; flowing naturally through apps like Outlook, Teams, Sharepoint, Forms/Excel etc.

Cons

The complexity scales upwards quite quickly when you try to build more advanced workflows. As they become more advanced more effort is dedicated to building and troubleshooting, and some scenarios can be limited by things like Connectors or licenses. As this becomes the case it starts to feel like the tradeoff for not needing technical or scripting experience becomes significantly more diminished.

I have been using Power automate since last 4 years and have seen it handle the most complex automations without glitches. I have not used a more friendly automation tool that that.

Pros

Microsoft Power Automate is one of it's kind tool. I like how I can automate almost every business process through it and it does that efficiently and consistently.

Cons

The only this I do not like about Microsoft Power Automate is the Power Automate desktop version of it. The desktop version is not quite dependable, as it deals with UI automation.

For me, it's a "set and forget" type of tool. Once I have what I need set up and I know that it is working, I don't need to check back on things or make any changes unless I have to.

Pros

Power Automate is a fantastic tool that we leverage heavily for task automation. There are several processes that are easily automated to improve our workflow, task management and day to day operations.

Cons

If you aren't already familiar with Power Automate, it can initially be a bit overwhelming and it does have a bit of a learning curve. However, once you can get through that, it is a very powerful tool that can help you as well as your business with your daily tasks.
