### "Power Automate: Puts the Power into RPA"

December 20, 2025

4.0

The most complex of my processes, is pulling data from PostgreSQL using a PowerQuery in Excel. The data is refreshed, saved to a CSV and then uploaded via Filezilla to an FTP. It is a daily process triggered by Task Scheduler.

Pros

Power Automate brings the "power" to RPA! I have several daily processes that run reports, pull data and publish to FTP sites. At the heart of this process is Power Automate. I have used various other tools, and Power Automate stands above all of the rest when it comes to flexibility and the ability to customize processes.

Cons

In the beginning, Power Automate can be daunting because it is so powerful. Once I figured out how PA worked, I have been able to quickly generate, modify and deploy several complex processes. It does take time to learn, but once you have it, you are off and running.

[Tray.io](https://www.capterra.com/p/162651/Tray-io/)[Zapier](https://www.capterra.com/p/130182/Zapier/)

Reason for choosing Microsoft Power Automate

The cost of Zapier was too high. But the real benefit to Power Automate was that I can customize the workflow and create very specific tasks, then use a tool like FileZilla to finish the upload. Cloud-based tools didn't have that kind of flexibility.

### "A strong replacement for simple scripting and workflow automation"

April 21, 2026

4.0

it's overall a strong choice for orgs that want to build workflow automations without reliance on code and/or already live inside of 365. It's more effectively for standard business process automation, but starts to fall apart a bit as workflows start to branch out or touch on solutions outside of 365. For simple processes it's very useful and efficient, but may need dedicated tools or knowledge for larger scale automations.

Pros

Very good at connecting repetitive business tasks across 365 and other business services. It can work quite well for approvals and notifications, and simple uncomplicated process automation. For orgs already embedded within the microsoft ecosystem, the native integration and compatibility provides great synergy between automations; flowing naturally through apps like Outlook, Teams, Sharepoint, Forms/Excel etc.

Cons

The complexity scales upwards quite quickly when you try to build more advanced workflows. As they become more advanced more effort is dedicated to building and troubleshooting, and some scenarios can be limited by things like Connectors or licenses. As this becomes the case it starts to feel like the tradeoff for not needing technical or scripting experience becomes significantly more diminished.

### "It's good for the basics, but is still lacking key features and has lots of "quirks""

June 12, 2025

3.0

Power Automate allows users to get up and running quickly if they have other Microsoft Licenses already in house. THe workflow actions aren't always intuitive or straight forward, and it does take some getting used to. Power Automate as a whole lacks basic features other similar products provide. For instance, there's no "check if file exists in SharePoint" function. Instead, you have to put together roughly 3-5 workflow actions in Power Automate to see if a file exists on SharePoint whereas other products it's as simple as 1 step.

Pros

What's great about Power Automate is most businesses have it already with their licenses if they already have other Microsoft Cloud offerings. Therefore it can allow you and your business to get some real basic automation up and running quickly.

Cons

It's not fully mature yet and is missing a lot of key features other similar products/systems, such as Nintex, provide. For instance, if you have a few workflow actions you'd like to skip over (or not run) like sending an email every run, there's no way in Power Automate to disable that workflow action. You have to move it to the end of the workflow (however big it may be), and put a "terminate" action before it. With other products, you can "disable" that particular action and the workflow will skip right over it. Or if you change a variable name, in Power Automate you have to find it in every action and replace the old variable name with the new one.

Pros

It’s rather easy to set up automated workflows, especially I use it for sending emails based on triggers. It saves time and ensures reports are sent consistently without manual effort.

Cons

Sometimes the interface feels a bit unintuitive, and debugging flows can be frustrating when something doesn’t work as expected.

Overall, Power Automate is a powerful tool for streamlining business processes, though it requires careful design for reliability.

Pros

Power Automate simplifies repetitive tasks with low-code automation, integrates well with Microsoft 365, and boosts productivity.

Cons

Debugging complex flows can be frustrating, with limited error detail and inconsistent behavior in large workflows.

### "Review of Power Automate from banking industry perspective "

July 24, 2025

4.0

Overall I find Microsoft Power Automate to be a good RPA tool with a lot of future potential. Currently its features are a bit undeveloped compared to UiPath, but I can see they are improving. I find them to be easier to use and potentially save time when it comes to automatons that require less than three web applications than UiPath. Their customer service is what really gives me confidence that overtime this tool will out perform competition as they develop it further.

Pros

Microsoft Power Automate is very easy to learn for an automation software, the user interface is simple and its has native compatibility with all Microsoft office applications. In addition the pre-built API connectors are very easy to use compared to competition products like UiPath. The customer support from Microsoft has been really great in my experience, they always have staff available to help debug issues and explain limitations and ways to overcome them. Another positive point about Power Automate is that it is a new and actively being improved based on user feedback. I have had representatives get back to me about issues I faced and how they raised a complaint so that it gets fixed during future patches. From an enterprise standpoint, Power Automate is also cheaper to make automation with than UiPath, while requiring the same type of infrastructure. Since Power Automate is part of Microsoft, its much easier to get security approvals within the bank and use the software. The representatives tend to be quite knowledgeable and already have a working relation with the security team.

Cons

Microsoft Power Automate currently has a few issues when developing RPA projects of high complexity. Some projects that require multiple web applications (More than 2) tend to run slower on power automate than in UiPath. This causes some issues in reaching SLA and planning how many virtual machines are required for a given process to complete enough cases within the given time. The time trigger in cloud automation is also an aspect that is a bit underdeveloped. Its not easy to set a time for production code based on business requirements while being able to change in in a config during testing. This leads to code changes having to be made. Microsoft support has already confirmed that they would look into this issue. Since Power Automate works on cloud and desktop flows, it often requires Vnet to be set-up for API usage which is extra infrastructure set-up and cost compared to desktop only RPA tools.

### "Excellent Automation tool Integrated Across Microsoft Ecosystem"

June 3, 2025

5.0

Power Automate is a very easy tool to pick up and use with a plethora of triggers, actions and connections ready to use out of the box.

Pros

I liked the ease of integration of Power Automate across the Microsoft, Azure and Office 365 ecosystem.

Cons

The limitation of only a month's worth of flow run history isn't ideal, however a SharePoint list can be used to persist and log data to work around this.

### "Power Automate is a great tool to automate your everyday work "

June 3, 2025

5.0

Pros

You can create flows for everyday work items. It helps automate items in your everyday work, whether that be notifying someone a document has been submitted or ready for another person to edit or for approval on something.

Cons

It can take a while to learn how to use Microsoft Power Automate. There are a lot of connectors and actions which can be hard to work out which one to use in certain scenarios.

### "Overall great product streamlining data collection"

April 24, 2026

4.0

I find it can be frustrating to troubleshoot when something goes wrong, as error messages aren’t always clear. Some connectors can be unreliable, and more complex automations have a learning curve

Pros

I like Power Automate for its ability to easily automate repetitive tasks and streamline workflows. The integration with Formstack is especially helpful for automating actions based on form submissions, saving time and reducing manual work. It also supports better task management by automatically creating and tracking tasks, helping keep work organized and on schedule.

Cons

Some users find Power Automate can be difficult to troubleshoot when flows fail, as error messages aren’t always clear. Others mention limitations with complex logic, connector reliability, or performance issues with larger workflows. Licensing and premium connectors are also a common concern, as costs can add up. While powerful, it often has a learning curve for more advanced automations and task management scenarios.

It is a delight to see it in action. I love using it for monitoring activities on my service catalog platform on Sharepoint.

Pros

I like the fact that you can run test for any of the template you choose to use. The pre-configured action steps makes it usage easier. And I also like the fact that when the account that runs your automate is expiring you are notified and even notified to activate when it deactivates

Cons

It is not easy to integrate with processes outside microsoft tools.

### "Power Automate for Secondary School-Wide and Classroom Information "

September 16, 2023

5.0

In 2020 when school classes first moved online or students attended on a rotating basis, the rush of posting daily lesson plans while starting video calls and managing on premise students was an unneccesary stressor. I built Flows to automate that process - automatically posting the daily lesson to Teams (as channel posts as we were required, which could not otherwise be scheduled) at the beginning of each class, retrieved from a document I updated the day before. I have since expanded the use to school wide collection and distribution of announcements (Forms > Share Point > Teams, Outlook, HTML, RSS for students, staff, website, and TV displays), scheduling of resources in our Student Services departments, and various other time-saving applications. A rough estimate would be that my automations save me approximately 45 - 60 minutes of work each day. This time can be better spent actually interacting with students, rather than clicking through tedious yet necessary tasks.

Pros

Power Automate has allowed me to offload some of the tedious and repetitive tasks that would otherwise take me away from my teaching duties and the time available to interact with students.

Cons

A first attempt at Power Automate can quickly show even a seasoned technically-savvy individual just how much they do not know. Thankfully, there is a well-developed online support community, both from Microsoft and others, that documents and solves many of the common (and not-so-common) issues that users have experienced in their sometimes very-detailed automations.

### "Microsoft Flow has been reborn!"

June 29, 2022

5.0

Pros

Power automate allows someone with no coding skills to drag-and-drop different tasks and systems into a workflow to manage a multitude of things - as long as there's some connection to microsoft products. The pricing is good since you can use it for free as long as you already have a microsoft account. Even with the premium features, the price is worth the upgrade and you can have one account for your business to run multiple flows.

Cons

There are certain setbacks to the system as there are known errors that I have run into multiple times that Microsoft hasn't fixed. One of the major examples is if a file has been opened by a user recently on SharePoint, Power Automate can't seem to move the file because it will say the file is locked. Although that can be expected even within sharepoint, there are times when the file is still unable to be moved on the next day.

My experience with power automate has been excellent, it is a tool that can not miss in my work. Not having a tool like this is a missed optimization opportunity.

Pros

The ability to automate almost any task and perform actions based on flows or triggers is a tool of high value. The use of power automate has saved me a lot of manual and repetitive work time, as well as reduced my workload. It’s like having a personal assistant who knows what I need

Cons

### "Practical Business Automation Solution."

May 5, 2022

5.0

I usually integrate Microsoft Power Automate with Office 365 and Microsoft Power Apps. It saves time and effort, supports team collaboration on the cloud, increases productivity, and helps my team organize day-to-day work. For instance, It distributes customers' email requests received on Outlook to the corresponding department's mailbox, sends attached files to a shared folder on OneDrive, and instantly notifies team members of the up-to-date status of the requests. Microsoft Power Automate keeps our work organized, aligned, informed, and responsive to customers' needs.

Pros

Microsoft Power Automate facilitates the workflows all over the company. It has seamless integrations with the commonly used business applications, especially within the Microsoft environment. It's a no-code/low-code solution that allows business users to automate repetitive tasks, organize document flow, manage the data flow, and set up customized notifications to keep everyone informed. Power Automate allows for synchronous and asynchronous dataflow and connects desktop Applications (on-premises) with cloud applications in one productive workflow.

Cons

Power Automate works well within the Microsoft ecosystem, but it doesn't integrate well with applications outside. Also, the App documentation/troubleshooting is geared toward IT professionals more than business users.

### "Best light-weight workflow tool on the market. "

April 4, 2022

5.0

Microsoft delivered a great solution for business process improvements. Power Automate can connect with hundreds of different applications and the product team constantly adds even more. Secondly, there's so many tutorials and training materials on the Internet offering different levels of knowledge.

Pros

In my opinion, Power Automate is the best light-weight, no code/low code application available on the market. One can start building workflows without advanced developer knowledge and show great automation enhancements to the business processes. This middleware not only saves hundreds of hours by improving the processes, but it also enhances the business transformation and user experience.

Cons

It's a fact that Power Automate offers a lot of connectors, however the majority of those can be purchased at additional fee.
