### "A simple tool to gather all my note in one place"

January 16, 2024

5.0

I'm a supply chain analyst. I use Microsoft OneNote to gather informations from multiple source shared with me (mail, web, presentation, call) about supply chain operation. I also use it to organize my note regarding coding and datavisualization.

Pros

I like the intuitiveness of Microsoft OneNote. I can copy-paste from multiple source (web, presentation, screenshot) while note taking. And it keep me organized in a fast-pacing work environnement. I also like the bulleting icon and tab it feels like a physical note taking tool. Which help me a lot switching from pen and paper.

Cons

Sometime I find it difficult to format my note when it's relating to code. I really wish Microsoft make it connected for its PowerBI langage (M langage and DAX).

### "Note taking made easy in Onenote"

March 14, 2024

4.0

Great overall experience managing my notes and sharing them with my colleagues. I would highly recommend this over other resources like Evernote.

Pros

The ease of sharing my notes with someone, commenting on notes by both primary author and collaborators, auto sync on the one drive.

Cons

For some reason, one note seems to perform better on Mac systems but not as much on windows. It crashes a lot on windows.

### "Experience in using OneNote for over 3 years daily"

August 25, 2023

5.0

Pros

OneNote is an easy to use app for notes taking and sharing. One of the advantages is that it is integrated with Outlook that you can create tasks on OneNote, and it will be created the same task in Outlook automatically. Another advantage is that you don't have to save the information you input into OneNote manually, the app will save all the changes you made and sync them with the folder in your harddiske or OneDrive. With this function, you don't need to concern of any unsaved information .

Cons

When the notebook you created in OneNote gets bigger in size, it happens all the time that the app will not be responding, and it seems like that there is no solution for it. I really hope that MIcrosoft will fix this problem soon. It's been always a nightmare when the app isn't responding while i'm heavily relied on this app for recording all my tasks and activities with customers.

### "OneNote for Tutors"

August 2, 2022

4.0

Overall, I would like to recommend everyone to use this app to prepare your notes. It's very handy and versatile.

Pros

There are may features of Onenote which makes it useful like: 1. Clippers, which allow to move data from any browser to OneNote. 2. Can be used in multiple devices simulatneosly. 3. Allows to add Multimedia. 4. Doesn't have formatting contraint. 5. Document Management , division on basis of subject, Notebook, Pages. 6. Flexible formatting option. 7. Works very well in laptop, pc, android tab and mobile. 8. Can use Digital Pen.

Cons

The Synchronisation with cloud features lags a lot. Many times doesn't works properly. Have to click sync many times and have to wait if internet is slow.

### "Microsoft OneNote: The best task listing and meeting notes management tool"

April 24, 2022

5.0

My overall experience with OneNote has been great. I used to use Notepad to record notes initially, but when I saw OneNote, it opened my eyes to a whole new dimension. I had to maintain one Notepad file for each workday and had ended up using too many Notepad files for recording meeting notes. It was very difficult to search for the required content in times of need. One-Note removed all these barriers, and now I can record the notes of all meetings in a single OneNote creating sections for each day, and locate words/phrases across all sections in no time. I would recommend everyone to use OneNote for recording meeting notes and maintaining a daily task list.

Pros

The best thing I like about Microsoft OneNote is the functionality to add sections. I believe this is one thing that Microsoft Word lacked, and Microsoft OneNote has pitched in rightly to address that unmet need. Bringing in the feature of adding sections brings OneNote closer to the worksheet model of Excel. It enables our team to track updates across sprints, all in a single note having different sections for each sprint. It also helps me organize my personal notes, with the notes of each day mentioned in a separate section.

Cons

OneNote is great in many aspects. Seeing OneNote from a different perspective, we find that it lacks in certain aspects like table formatting wherein there is no option to fill the cells with a particular color. Also, OneNote lacks the Headings feature in Word, which actually helps in displaying only required sections when reading. These are some of the areas of improvement which I can think of.

### "Powerful digital notebook for teachers and students"

October 14, 2022

5.0

As mentioned, OneNote is an exceptional digital notebook resource for educators, making it easy to curate course materials, organize them into sections (or units), and share them with colleagues and students. The application is easy to use, and the onboarding learning curve is quite friendly - most of the features are intuitive. There are so many additional functions that more advanced users can explore to customize their notebooks. Especially with stylus functionality, OneNote replaces paper course materials as an interactive digital notebook that students can edit and keep forever without worrying about losing any paper. This has become an essential teaching tool for me as an educator and my preferred notetaking tool as a student.

Pros

OneNote is an amazing digital notebook for teachers and students. Teachers can create a living course workbook filled with learning resources, including diagrams, videos, and links to online sources. They can also create worksheets directly in OneNote or import an existing Word or PDF document into the notebook that students can edit. One of the best features of OneNote is how smoothly it works with tablets and tablet laptops. With a stylus, students can write and draw in their OneNote notebooks, making it feel like a paper notebook. OneNote also includes a suite of drawing tools that make it easy to draw and label diagrams and even graphs for math. The Class Notebook add-in makes it an even more powerful tool for teachers to manage their classes. A teacher can quickly look into each of their students' notebooks to assess work and leave feedback. Students can sync their OneNote notebooks and receive feedback immediately. With Teams, entire OneNote notebooks can be easily shared between colleagues, and collaboration is seamless.

Cons

The current OneNote desktop app no longer offers the ability to export pages as .one files, which makes it more difficult to send or attach individual pages. Rather, sharing can only be done through links, which sometimes run into challenges with sharing settings and others not being able to open the page. The inability to rename students at the teacher level also makes the "Review Work" function a bit less user-friendly when teachers try to mark them in alphabetical order. Finally, I would love to see more integration possibilities with other learning management systems.

### "OneNote - The Tool You Didn't Know You Needed"

April 8, 2022

5.0

From my job, to school, to church management, to personal notes, OneNote has been a vital part of my daily workflow. I often refer to it as the digital extension of my brain.

Pros

I don't even know where to start with this review. I have been using OneNote since its first iteration nearly 20 years ago, and found early on that there was no "right or wrong" way to use OneNote. Instead, it can be used in highly personalized and customizable ways that align with how your brain organizes and processes information.

Cons

I honestly can say that I can't identify a single thing that I don't like about OneNote. It was priceless to begin with, and has only continually added value over the years. I wasn't thrilled when it had briefly moved to a paid model, and was very disappointed when Microsoft announced that they were going to be phasing it out. I was very happy to learn that Microsoft listened to their customers/fans, and not only reversed their decision, but have doubled down on product development.

Reason for choosing Microsoft OneNote

OneNote stands apart from any other alternative product. It truly is in a class of its own.

### "Great for Notes and Tracking! "

August 26, 2022

5.0

Overall this is an amazing tool for note tracking and can even be used for project management. Its does take a little bit of getting use to if you are coming from something more simplistic like Sticky Notes. I have began using this to track project notes, and even notes for calls. You have ability to share among teams, copy and paste pages from one "book" to another. One nice feature is that you can sort of "bend" the system to be used for what you would like it be used for- meaning that you may use it to track one way, but you co worker may use it in another manner. Perfect example I am more of a Book and multi pages with no table, but instead bullet points! My manager loves tables to be inserted and linked out to other items! Both work perfectly and are easily sharable and understandable no matter how you choose to manage your own One Note!

Pros

This software is awesome for tracking projects, notes, and progress! It is customizable and can be used how ever the user would like! I personally like to section my work out in columns with bullet points, where may manager prefers tables. Some coworkers prefer multiple "books" instead of the method that I prefer is one book, such as Training with multiple pages underneath one book! The system is different if you are coming from a more "basic" system like I was, such as sticky notes! This is Highly Recommended for any member of you team that needs to keep track of notes and even project progress!

Cons

The only thing "negative", which is really not horrible, is I wish there was more customization to the "blocks". When you start typing on a page, you will see a "block" appear and you can customize the tab color, the size of the box, the font, color of font, and size but I wish you could add a "hue" to the back ground of the boxes to make them stand out a little more- almost as if you were adding different colored sticky notes to the pages! I did find a work around and I am able to highlight the typed notes with a "lighter" color highlight- which works just as well, just does not look as uniform as the rest of the program! Still a highly recommended product!

### "Always weak on version history and restoration, now it's abysmal. Go at your own risk!"

October 12, 2022

3.0

Onenote promises to be a great collaboration tool, especially integrated into Teams, but unfortunately, falls short of the mark in the most sensitive of areas, synchronization, back up, version history and restore across multiple users and platforms. On more than one occasion Onenote has lost whole sections of pages in the synch process across platforms and users. Sections that simply disappeared even from the restore and deleted pages sections. That's weeks of labor with clients who are no longer available for that portion of the project work.

Pros

Interface is fantastic. Collaboration across users was great. But with Android, Teams, Desktop and Web versions, significant behind-the-scenes back up, synchronization, and restoration have all been dangerously degraded.

Cons

Back up, restore and version history features, including sharing pages, have all been degraded functions making Onenote extremely vulnerable to crashes and data loss. Now, the tools only work reliably for the single user on a single machine.

Reason for choosing Microsoft OneNote

Integrated functionality for basic tables, lists and documents and visibility to team members.

### "An incredibly powerful one-stop-shop"

October 15, 2021

5.0

Beyond these cons, OneNote is super-easy to use, powerful, and functional across all major platforms. Unfortunately, not all platforms offer the same features: Wiki-style links (creating links using \[\[ \]\]) is not supported in the browser version nor on iPadOS.

Pros

You can embed content from so many sites: Youtube, Thinglink, Coogle to name a few. Each notebook can contain as many section groups and sections as you want, with as many pages and sub-pages as you want. And each page is an infinite canvas. Bonus: You can store actual files on any pages that you can then later open in the appropiate app using a double click. The desktop version features OCR which is great for searching content in pictures.

Cons

The way the infinite canvas works. You cannot scroll left or up from the top of the page - only right and down. That feels somewhat counterintuitive at times. Also, there should be easy sharing on the page level - as of the writing of this review, you can only share entire notebooks, meaning you give access to it all, even if all you wanted to do was to collaborate on a single page.

### "Microsoft OneNote should your one-stop destination for task management"

April 11, 2023

4.0

Microsoft OneNote is a great app for task and project management.

Pros

Microsoft OneNote allows me to manage my daily activities based on priority, the project management and also document management. As a software developer, I created multiple notebooks for each of my need and it is much easier to follow OneNote instead of going through multiple Word Documents.

Cons

I don't think I have any least-liked feature about Microsoft OneNote as of yet. I use it to efficiently manage my to-do lists, and documents, take notes for meetings, take screenshots, etc.

### "An effective online diary with good filing features."

October 3, 2023

It's been a good experience to use team wide and ensure notes and documents are stored somewhere that everyone can access.

Pros

I like the fact that it syncs across different devices so that your notes are with you wherever you go. It has a good note management system too with the subpages so it makes organising your notes according to categories etc. very well.

Cons

It could have a better UI in complete honesty. A few competitors in the marketplace have a nicer UI which makes it more appealing to use.

### "Goodbye paper notebook"

August 25, 2022

5.0

Despite my minor criticism regarding accessibility, I can no longer imagine my professional life without OneNote.

Pros

I use OneNote instead of a paper notebook and am very happy with it. I always have all my notes with me. Even if I have the iPad or my laptop in the office, I can access my notes from my phone or any other PC. So working becomes much more flexible. Also, having access to all my notes across my workspaces has proven to be very useful several times. Thanks to the customizable and clear structure, you can quickly familiarize yourself with the program. If you know how to use MS Word or MS Outlook, getting started with OneNote is no problem. I really liked the fact that OneNote can be easily embedded in Teams and Outlook.

Cons

I find it a shame that you can't easily increase the font size of the right sidebar with the individual folders and tabs. Especially when I'm working on other people's equipment, it would make it a lot easier for me. The toolbar is also difficult to use for me as a visually impaired person in its standard form. Here I would still see potential in terms of accessibility.

### "Best note taking and beautiful featured windows software for daily use"

March 20, 2022

5.0

Onenote is best tool for taking on going session notes while working on other works so basically it helps you multitasking and tremendously increase your strength. If you're a blogger and want to work in a offline environment then this is the best app to continue with.

Pros

When I encountered onenote first time I have been using it for just taking rough notes for my blog but recently I have encountered about their screen recording feature. Its shortcuts are really helpful without opening onenote every time one can take screenshot, copy it to clipboard and use anywhere. Also I can upload any pdf in a text content, I can also add media file inside a doc file and send it over network. Even making to do lists, sticky notes and other daily tasks can be done at once in this tool.

Cons

It is really helpful tool but learning things make it complex further and also I cannot find any solution to use it in mobile. Lack of personalization is also one of the lagging feature that need to be addressed in further updates.

### "OneNote=One stop shop"

August 29, 2022

5.0

It neatly holds all of my own personal metrics for my own performance, as well as my entire teams performance metrics. My manager has a one stop shop to open up a tool and plug in data and it makes it easy for everyone to be able to see their own metrics.

Pros

For our team huddles, we only use onenote and it’s features to meet over a webex call and to go over the meetings agenda. It houses everything from individual team member goals to being able to source whatever image or audio files we’d be needing to use.

Cons

One item I have noticed is it does take a bit of time to load new items for the rest of the team to see. About 10 minutes for recently created files to appear.

Keeping all of my law classes organized while I study for the bar exam.

Pros

Is is extremely easy to combine all sorts of information into a single folder and the search capability is second to none. I wish I found this program years ago.

Cons

Considering it is part of the Microsoft office suite, there are some functions in the tool bars that would be beneficial. For example there is no dictation button in OneNote to be able to tap and then speak the notes you were trying to write. However, I did find a workaround with an ad in that needs to be added From the Internet and it solves that problem.

### "OneNote drives productivity among our project team with its incredible note-taking experience."

January 10, 2023

5.0

I'm quite satisfied with the overall functionality & the work management achieved thanks to OneNote's robust data-handling & collaboration capabilities. Furthermore, the software pioneers in its flexible note-sharing options where notes can either be shared as files of different formats or as accessible links. That said, I'm gaining a whole lot of features from an out-of-the-box free-of-charge software is more than enough reason to compel any user to at least give it a try.

Pros

OneNote is like a virtual whiteboard that collectively stores our ideas, tasks & file attachments of our current & accomplished construction projects in a singular platform accessible anywhere across any device. The user interface is generally butter-smooth & works amazingly well in split-screen mode on my Galaxy Note 20 Ultra phone using the S-Pen to jot notes & drag photos & files from the file manager or gallery to the OneNote application. It's a productivity-centric utility that's practically indispensable for my daily tasks.

Cons

As of the 22H2 Windows 10 update on my laptop, I've started noticing notes take a bit longer to synchronize my work in order to resume collaboration with the project team. I hope this gets resolved in a future software update on Windows. The mobile & web versions work great though.

Reason for choosing Microsoft OneNote

OneNote was simply available out-of-the-box on my Windows machine & Galaxy phone, where most of the features that I'd use with Nimbus were already there on OneNote at no extra charge, thus I stuck to the latter.

Over the years, Evernote slowly began putting features that were once available in the free version behind paywalls & started increasing their subscription costs (especially the Plus version that I was using back then), whereas OneNote remained free with all the features offered by its competing alternative, which ultimately made no sense sticking any further with Evernote & consequently made the transition to OneNote.

### "OneNote is in my Top 3 of the most complete note taking apps"

May 18, 2022

5.0

As a Mac user, I mostly use the native Mac apps for personal stuff, like some reminders and notes. But for heavy work and business related stuff, I manage them on the Microsoft Suite, which One Note is part of. The good thing is that you can use One Note separately , you don't need to be a 365 user, it's already included in your Windows copy. And it's free, you only need to create a Microsoft account and, so if you're already in the Microsoft environment, I highly recommend you to use One Note. This app is in my Top 3 of note taking app because of its interface, it offers many options to personalize with tags, colors, images, etc. This interface is visually attractive whether on the desktop view, the mobile one or the web browser. Also, the "Notebook - Section - Pages" system for each note you create helps you to stay organized in your workflow. Heavy Excel, Word users can be benefited by this app due to the high integration it has with all the rest of the Office Tools. Data import / export features is one of the best, and the Windows exclusive "Send To One Note" Apps is a great addition for Windows User. It would be great if they can implement that plugin on Mac OS. The only thing I would recommend some improvement would be the Apple Watch app, where the main interface shows all notes without separating them in notebooks and sections, and sometimes it has sync issues between notes created on the phone or computer. Besides that, it's one of the best in the market.

Pros

It has a very attractive interface, it makes really easy to create and manage notes. They have made a great job making the app highly compatible to many platforms, Mac included.

Cons

The dedicated Apple Watch app needs improvement, mostly the interface and the way it shows the synced notes.

### "Microsoft OneNote, optimal Note taking and organization app"

May 20, 2022

5.0

Overall my experience with Microsoft OneNote is a good one. I do enjoy using this system and application as a primary notetaking resource. For the cost, I do believe that it can be Utilized very broadly and that makes it worth it, however For students or organizations that do not supply this app it may be A cost that students cannot afford otherwise. In addition I would recommend to utilize a service that allows Alumni to also benefit from some student benefit for a period of time after they no longer have access to their university email because of the fact that a lot of the times students that are recent alumni are still using Microsoft and need a little bit of a longer window before being asked to pay for their own subscription .

Pros

In general Microsoft OneNote is my go to and favorite notetaking app as a professional student. I find that the ability to hyper organize by topic and category allows me to keep my notes organized. In addition the ability to utilize both type to text features on top of the ability to use Apple Pencil allows me to truly customize my notes as I see fit.

Cons

The things that I liked Lisa about the software are that once the Notes sizes get to be quite large downloading these notes from the cloud does seem to take an extremely long time. And when they are downloading from the cloud you do not have access to work on those notes. Or changes that you make might not be synchronized when you reopen the app either from another device or once they do download from the cloud. In addition in order to utilize the software you do need to have a Microsoft software subscription to use on safe for example an iPad with the Microsoft OneNote app. For a student who may not be able to afford it it is a pretty big lump sum. However I will say that because of the fact that a lot of universities and corporations supply Microsoft for their students and employees it allows students to continue to utilize it.

### "My Go-To For Organization"

July 9, 2023

5.0

This has been my go-to software for keeping my thoughts organized for over 20 years. It is simple, yet robust with that familiar Microsoft feel. Because OneNote syncs to the cloud, it is accessible from both desktop and mobile apps as well as a web browser. All my thoughts and notes are organized in one place and accessible any time from anywhere.

Pros

It's simple yet effective note taking app that makes keeping things organized and synced across devices easy.

Cons

The newer version doesn't allow for individual OneNote files anymore. Now it needs a cloud account to sync to. Not the end of the world, but it was annoying at first when my work email changed.

Reason for choosing Microsoft OneNote

I switched from Lotus Organizer (very old) when IBM bought Lotus and it was discontinued. I've never looked back.
