Pros It is a great app for taking notes in the field. You can add attachments and edit them within the app. I take pictures and add text notes or drawings to specify functions. As my use has shifted away from university-based work, simpler alternatives have become more practical for me. Pros Microsoft OneNote was very useful for taking class notes throughout my studies, especially when I had access to it through my university’s Microsoft pass. It worked well with other Microsoft apps and made it easy to keep everything organized in one place. It synced with OneDrive, which helped ensure my notes were accessible across devices and backed up. Its organization system is detailed and structured, which worked well for academic use. Cons The interface can feel overwhelming, similar to other Microsoft applications like Word, and therefore takes an excessive amount of time to get comfortable with its layout. The mobile version was underwhelming even compared to desktop, which made it less convenient for quickly capturing notes without my laptop. Since finishing school, I’ve also found myself gravitating more toward simpler, free note-taking apps that better fit my current needs. When I was training for a new position and needed a way to keep my notes organized electronically, OneNote was the product for me. I still use OneNote to organize my notes and can easily find what I am looking for. Pros I love how easy Microsoft OneNote is to use. I can keep all my notes organized and it significantly increases my productivity at work. Cons I wish that OneNote would allow me to color-code or bold/italicize notes within the same section. I really like how flexible it is in terms of note-taking and organising documents. The almost unlimited space for every document also means there's no limit to how much or where you want to write. Pros The ability to draw freely as this made including diagrams and annotating notes a lot easier. The formatting of text is also very flexible so you don't have to spend a lot of time worrying about it. Cons Collaboration can sometimes be hard when more that two people are working. June 5, 2025 4.0 Microsoft OneNote is an exceptional tool for anyone who values structured yet flexible note-taking. It can take some time to learn all of the features, but it's worth it. Pros I have been using OneNote for about a year now. I absolutely love it. Some of the pros would be freeform note taking with Canvas, handwriting recognition, it integrates easily with Microsoft 365, and syncing across multiple devices. The organization features with notebooks, something I use often. I am not the best with organization, and OneNote helps me with it.
