Accounting Construction Used the software for: 2+ years ### "General Review " May 20, 2026 4.0 As a Sage 100 Contractor user for 8.5 years I really enjoy this program. I have experience with many other programs and this one is not too hard and not too easy. Set up of Vendor/Clients is easy. The transaction windows are easy to use.Training someone knew is not to hard. Pros The ability to control your transaction number. This is huge because I can know instantly what type of transaction I am looking at based on the number sequence. Secondly, is the dynamic ability to make changes and corrections. Very easy. Customer Support is readily available and the new IA interface isn't too bad. Secondary level support usually answers quickly. LOVE the fact we can add our pdf's/Excel directly into the program and very easily transfer to Excel or Word for further working. The budget process through to progress billings is a good and efficient process for our Project Managers and Accounting Teams. Cons Limiting the users from accessing modules can be time consuming. Setting up templates per module also has to be done per user. The upgrade of the program is times consuming when we have to do them. It is based on the size of your files but I can take 2 hours just for the first step in the process because our file is large. The time and material billing section needs work and we don't utilize it because it isn't efficient. Setting up job costing would be a huge benefit. Pros The power the program has. Great for job costing, inventory management when used properly. I wish we used more of the program. Cons Accounting side can be difficult to use. Multiple companies can be handled, each with their specifications. Have integration between modules, to facilitate transaction processes. Although it is easy to manage, it maintains rigorous control in tracking transactions and access controls. If everything is recorded in the System, Sage presents a few reports that allow you to see the data for good decision-making. It's worth the investment. In addition to being a Sage Reseller, Infomedika also offers multiple modifications that adapt very effectively to the application and laws of Puerto Rico, among other support services, interfaces or customized reports. Pros Sage is complete, have an excellent security, transaction tracking and windows friendly. You can adapt to the needs of customers. Easy process for Invoices, payments, Payroll, Customers, Vendors, and General Ledger Reports. So many simple things that would make transaction processing and reconciliation much easier. Pros Ease of use. Straight-forward transaction processing (for most). Small learning curve. Use of Microsoft Query to get data. All reports are in Crystal Reports and can be modified, as well as create new reports easily. Cons A couple of samples: 1) Bank reconciliation module should create any transaction that posts to a general ledger cash account. Such as a journal entry, not just transaction entry. 2) Lack of comment detail and other fields to the GL. For example, posting Receipt of Goods/Receipt of Invoice has no reference to the PO#. 3) Banking integration (need to do like Quickbooks). Pros The option I liked most is the depth of information that can be entered into Sage for customers and vendors that make it easy access for reporting. Customer and vendor memos and contacts and important details easily accessible and quick referencing. Cons The least favorable thing about Sage 100 is encountered with different user's abilities and lack of knowledge resulting in errors hampering complete accurate reporting. The convoluted nesting of functions may as well use a MS DOS command line. Pros It inherited the Master Trend database and has the familiar feel of MS DOS in Windows 3.2. It comes with a 400-page manual that is comprehensive but really user friendly or functional for beginners. Cons Archaic application with poor inter-unit integration, barely cobbled together and still needs a 13 person team for each unit to effectively run. May 19, 2026 4.0 Overall I would say it is satisfactory. It is easy to use once you know how and does what it needs to. Sage is probably the go to in that sense and once you know how to use Sage you can use any of them. Pros Once you learn it, it is relatively easy to use. It's used by most accountants and integrates with most software. Cons The UI looks quite dated and they should have a true cloud based version so you can use it anywhere. Cons Wish you scheduling module was more user friendly, we currently use Buildertrend and like the client interface and flexibility. Wish Sage had similar capabilities. I had to learn it without any formal training and have found it quite user friendly and easy to navigate. Pros I like the addition of some advanced reporting options that help with tracking job costs & productivity much more efficiently. Cons However, there were some reports in Sage 50 that are not available in Sage 100 and we miss those, as they were also beneficial and helpful in our business practices. HMRC love it which makes my life much easier. Pros Online backup is a life saver, having lost access once before to a PC we were back up and running within hours which meant there was no damage to our cash flow through invoicing. Everything is designed to be compliant in the UK which makes running a business easier. Cons Costs have increased substantially over the last few years which tend to be focused on features that we don't use and won't, which makes them technically an option. Large group of Master Developers that have add-ons to meet any challenges in accounting that may arise - example EDI processing. Cons Proprietary database. Not a real-time database for transactions - it is a batch processing system. SQL solutions not as robust as their proprietary database solution. Perhaps having a 3rd party report builder would be useful. Pros I used Sage 100 Contractor. I found the inventory module, payroll, and other modules to be easy to use and easy to understand. I like how it's simple to work with. I like how reporting is simple, but sometimes can get tedious. It is an easy to maintain software and Sage support is always a call away too. Pros I like how I get everything in one place under the Sage 100 umbrella. It has a strong inventory tracking and order processing. Other than these obvious features, I love it's reliability. Cons Sage 100 is a bit old fashioned in terms of looks and feeling when working on it. UI of Sage 100 could be much better than what it is now. Review Source EG Eli G. January 10, 2025 5.0 I personally love it, and it is very user friendly, but because I had the local (not web based) version I could only get to log in VIA remote etc... but it suited everything I needed for my company. Pros sage is very develop-able and can be adjusted to do all your needs, ( only with a Great Re-seller ) Cons the least I like about sage is that in order to really get an understanding of the software you must have an awesome re-seller and there is only a handful (maybe a bit more) and they charge huge amounts of money to do the work.... so, it ends up being very pricey... Little to no support from customer service (usually just told to look in the knowledge base). At one point we stated to pay for outside help. There are much better options out there. Pros We used the contractor version of Sage 100. It was a nice all in one solution with everything in one place. Invoicing was pretty simple for our accounting to use. Cons Mobile app didn't do anything, it was extremely basic. Taxes were not actually calculated on employees pay (it still calculated it but didn't actually track it, just stopped at one point but only for a few and it wasn't caught), estimating module could use a lot of work to update it. I have several clients who use it, and they're all quite happy with it. There IS a bit more of a learning curve to it if you've never worked with an accounting program before, but if you have some basic accounting knowledge, then it's fairly intuitive. Pros Performs well, gives great reports and such. Cons It's a bit more difficult to understand than some of its more pedestrian brethren.
