In the decade or longer I have used it, I have been virus and spyware free. Pros It installs easily, updates and scans quickly. There is the ability to add custom firewall rules to open up ports for certain types of software. Cons Recent compatibility issues with windows 10. After the latest creators update windows automatically removed the software from my laptop without asking me. I am sure there is a newer version that is compatible, just need to track it down now. July 31, 2018 4.0 Pros I am in love this product it has proactive approach in detecting threat i.e. it provides advanced protection against unknown threats. This software do deep scanning for viruses, malware and spyware detection. Also, it provides live updates and hence help in detecting latest threats to the system. Cons The only backdrop is its cost. Pros We used it to keep 200+ employees' computers safe, the setup was relatively easy and automatic updates ensured all computers were protected against new threats. Cons Once we tried deploying it to a very large quantity of locations we ran into major problems with it not working correctly and spent a lot of time working with support without making much progress on fixing the issue. Cons May be a little intrusive at times when there is an overlap of rules. Works on method of using least privileges . Once the correct skills are put in place though, it is a breeze to set up. Pros The ability of SEP to integrate well with other Symantec tools like DLP, CASB and the other entire suite is great! Additionally, Symantec is a known vendor for a big dictionary of known malware hashes which prevents major virus outbreaks. Cons Symantec integrates well but only with Symantec suite of tools. In my experience, Symantec's integration with other vendors is relatively bad in comparison with its competing vendors. It has blocked 100% of the intrusion attempts into our network and has stopped all viruses in their tracks! Cons I really don't have any negative comments about this software other than it would be nice to have more detailed information on intrusion attempts such as the IP address the intrusion is coming from. Pros I've tried out several anti-virus programs and Symantec remains the best on the market. It's a clean user interface and easy to schedule scans on a regular basis.
