Cons Other than a few false-positives, which obviously is better than getting a virus, unless exceptions are made the Real Time protection causes time critical applications to stall or fail. I used it for many years and upgraded from previous versions and I was getting more that I was looking for. Pros This is an industry-standard product for anyone looking for security and protection at home or work. The features are incredible and some features are not available anywhere else. It can overreach at times, in my opinion, but it stops viruses and malware on every system I've used it on. Pros Extremely good and reliable antivirus software. Symantec, in my experience will protect your endpoints from the large majority of threats in the wild. I haven't had a threat make it past the AV client. Cons Endpoint protection includes network driver integration that can affect how Windows works. I've experience several problems in the past where updates to the Endpoint Protection gets updated and the network connectivity is cutoff. The client must then be completely removed and reinstalled to regain connection to the network. This software doesn't have those troublesome pop ups that every other protection software has. Pros I like this software because it does it's job in the background of my computer effectively and I don't have to constantly deal with popups on my screen every couple of minutes, or every time my computer starts up. Cons The configuration of this software is what I like the least. The visual look and feel of the software could be updated and make it a little easier to use. We switched to another product because it was cheaper and had less of an impact on our end user's computers. Pros I like that it's developed by a well known company that is known for providing a solid product. If it weren't for that we wouldn't have used it. Cons I dislike how expensive it is. I also dislike how many system resources it uses to run. It doesn't seem to matter how much RAM, disk space, and what processor is installed it just takes and takes and takes and gets in the way of productivity. Cons The feature that I least like about Symantec Endpoint Security is that it detects malicious files based on just AV signatures which are being pushed via regular updates. Behavioral Analysis, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence based detection is missing in Symantec Endpoint Security unlike most of the EDR present in the market. Review Source GD Grace D. " November 18, 2022 4.0 From a User's perspective, it keeps machines clear of infections without compromising performance or accessibility. Pros This software was installed by my organization administrators on all of our computers. As a user I am okay with not knowing how all the nuts and bolts work as long as I can utilize my machine the way I want to and do it safely. In over a year I have not heard of any computer at our organization getting an infection/malware! I am still able to access the internet how I would normally as well which is a big plus! (NO blocking of common social platforms or anything like that needed in my experience) Cons Honestly the only thing I really noticed even about this software running was a pop up that would notify me that my computer had been scanned and was clean. It was able to be closed easily so it wasn't a huge deal but it was a tiny annoyance when I was in a hurry to get onto a program when I first logged on. Pros It always works in the background so that one would never need to use the interface, however it protects one's computer while working and as well as surfing through the web. It allocates very little memory so does not tire the computer. Pros Working as a subset of a university, we are used to being on lockdown in terms of our desktops and laptops. They added the Symantec to our new desktops about a year and a half ago, and I have to say, I like it a lot better than our previous firewall/virus software. It doesn't have all of the popups that interfere with your work, and my system doesn't seem to be bogged down by the software. It's doing its job and I don't even know it's there! Pros I have used various types of anti viruses but i have fallen in love Symantec Endpoint Protection as it eliminated all the problems i used to have. At University of Zimbabwe , it is now the only antivirus that is used by both students and staff after a careful consideration by the University IT guys. It provides end to end protection for computers and laptops . Cons Though the antivirus cost lower than other antiviruses , it comes with some other cost it requires a machine with higher specs. It helps to improve the control of devices and personnel in general to maintain under strict compliance our security and privacy protocols. Pros Symantec offers us an intuitive interface that makes it very easy to schedule scans and locate leaks, quarantine any suspicious files or records isolating the problem before it infects other computer units, provides us with very complete reports that allow us to develop strategies and policies for privacy and security more in line with the needs of our company. You may have to manually clean things up that other products handle better but it's still an acceptable product. Pros Symantec offers a good deployment experience and is fairly easy to manage. It's a decent product overall. Cons Symantec products don't always offer great protection. At times they have actually caused issues in an enterprise environment through their own update mechanisms. As an end-user, I've never experienced any issue nor received any notification about viruses or malware, which sounds a bit weird. Pros It is lightweight and does not affect the overall computer performance. It has a clean interface, and its definitions are constantly updated. Cons It does not have more advanced features like anti-phishing, anti-spam. Despite the clean user-interface, some configurations are hidden inside other configurations. January 18, 2019 5.0 Pros Symantec routinely does quick and full virus scans in the background, so even if I go months without thinking about my computer's security, I don't have to worry, because Symantec defaults to daily quick-scans and weekly full-machine scans, so I know I am always safe. If there is ever an immediate threat, I get a notification, and can quickly and easily rectify the situation. Cons Full scans are a bit lengthy, but since they usually happen in the background, it's not a big deal. Still, I feel like if I start a full scan and go into a three hour meeting, by the time I come back, the full scan should be done. But, I guess at least I know it is being very thorough. Symantec Endpoint Security protects our data in the event the laptop is stolen which was very good. It also sends updates on the product which keeps us current, the ability to track each users and ensure that they have the product installed. The option to update to the latest version, the annual renewal is timely by Symantec. We also really appreciate you team that supports us and visit our office periodically to check up on us and other Symantec products we have in our organization. Cons Symantec Endpoint Security protects our data in the event the laptop is stolen which was very good however at times it causes the laptop to be a little slow in accessing files and data. It also sends updates on the product which keeps us current but we have to download the updates and send it to each user. It's very protective (and nearly impossible to shut off from a user perspective unless you have admin privileges) Cons It can often become a roadblock when trying to install personal software (i.e. general users will need to reach out to our tech support firm for admin rights in order to install things quite frequently).
