It has never failed me and I will always continue to use Google Maps as my navigation tool. Pros Seamless and accurate navigation software to make new roads familiar. It provides real time estimated time of arrivals, different route options, and general mapping use, all for free on Google Maps. Cons Honestly not much. It is one of few perfect software's out there. March 7, 2026 5.0 Overall, I prefer this 70/30 over Waze for daily use. In fact, I cannot think of a function where it falls short of Waze... that makes me wonder why I even use Waze! Pros The interface is simple, and consistent between android and my computer. Allowing me to search routes, including multistop routes, and then export them to my phone, is very helpful. Most useful, I think, are these functions: (1) being able to search a term, not just an addres se.g. "bus stops" or "shopping" - and have them highlighted (including bus routes, etc) is fantastic. (2) Being able to set modes of transport especially walking, and (3) remembering my parking spot, are major bonuses OVER Waze. (4) displaying the local speed limit, and pinging if I exceed it, keeps my on the right side of the law. Overall, a really easy, useful app. I should also add, it's also easier to add multiple stops on a route, which I like. Cons Sometimes, changing your mind and wanting to go back and enter a different route/destination is not as intuitive as I'd like. When using my Android phone for GPS, e.g., in a hire car, the font cannot be made larger. This means that someone like me, who wears reading glasses, must drive with my glasses on/off to read street names and route numbers. I wish they could be bigger. One last ask - a compass needle to show direction, would be useful. Google Maps even has a program to reward good reviewers by making them Local Guides which there's ten levels of. The more pictures and reviews you leave as a Local Guide, the more points you get towards leveling up. If you see inconsistencies in a map, you can always suggest an edit to help update the map. Google Maps isn't just a simple map. It's a constantly changing/updating Maps that serves as a major convenience to the user's day to day life. I speak as a Level 8 local guide myself. If you haven't tried Google Maps out, I suggest you go try it and see how much of a convenience it really is! Pros Google Maps thanks to the users who use it is constantly updating. If you're looking for a specific kind of place, Google Maps will tell you where to find it as well as step by step instructions how to get their. You can even suggest edits to the map if something isn't as it actually appears to be. " May 1, 2025 5.0 I have used Google Maps since it was first released and have seen it improve over the years, always for the better. It is backed by the power of Google, linking your web searches to the program seamlessly. The features are incredibly helpful like speed monitoring, traffic sensing, ability to customize routes by a number of filters all make the driving experience easier. The offline maps feature is amazing for drivers in rural areas where signal is not as strong which is invaluable. Pros I appreciate the reliability of Google Maps. It is always being updated and users can even give updates on accidents and traffic. It is intuitive and always gets me where I need to go. The ability to download maps for offline use just increases the reliability of the program. You have the security of knowing you will still be able to find your destination even without service. Cons Every once in a while I feel the algorithm will choose a very strange route just to avoid a very small and reasonable amount of traffic, making the trip longer than it needed to be. Pros I have used Google Maps extensively and found the features easy to use to help me navigate to an area unknown to me before, particularly for destinations never visited before. The directions have always been spot-on and the mapping features allow me to zoom in as if I were on the road itself, getting a birds-eye view and street view of where I need to go. When it comes to value for money - it's a free-to-use app, so it costs you nothing to use, and I have never had to use the customer support facility as it is so easy to use. Cons Certain parts of the maps are not updated every year, in particular the birds-eye view, but this is a very minor issue.
