August 7, 2023 5.0 As someone who has always been "directionally challenged", Google Maps is my lifeline. It is probably one of the most used apps on my phone and I truly would be lost without it. ;) Pros I love how user friendly Google Maps is! Being able to use it with Apple Car Play has been a real game-changer for me. It's also very helpful that it remembers past addresses that you've typed in, so I can easily figure out someone's address just by typing in a street name! Cons The only thing that I would like to see improvement on is the volume level/options when you're using it with Apple Car Play while also streaming podcasts. It would be nice to be able to choose the podcast to simply "pause" while the navigation is speaking. Other than that, no complaints! Review Source MC Mike C. It has reshaped the way people drive. There are no more needs to have paper maps. The searching feature of google maps is very friendly using normal language. Just ask google maps to find the best place for ice cream near me and it does it. The reviews and photos that people add to the maps are very helpful in deciding where to go. It is also a great way to avoid traffic as it updates in real time. I love the feature that you can use voice search while already on a rout to find pit stops such as gas stations along the route and it tells you the extra amount of time it will take before you decide what extra stop to add. Cons The navigation no longer will reroute users to side streets. The desktop version used to have a feature that would show you photos taken by users in the area. I would often use this to scout shooting locations for my business. This feature is either hidden or no longer in service. This function would be a great resource to me if it was added to the phone app. The Google MyMaps feature is a great idea but falls flat do to security issues. ANyone with access to your specific map can easily copy the map and reuse it for their own purposes. I would like the ability to share my maps that I have created with others without the fear that they can copy it and share it with others whom I do not want them to have access to my content. Not only is it free, it is also easilly integratable with other applications, easy to use and very user friendly. It's a great tool to not only get directions but learn more about the place you are going to and features such as what restaurants, gas stations, hotels e.t.c. there are. I would highly recomend it to any friends. Pros 1\. It's free to use and very accessible as it is available on many platforms 2.Very interactive and gives users the ability to interact with the map for specific searches or features. 3.Very simple to use. 4.Can get customized suggestions based on past searches. 5.Can identify other aspects of a location and more custom searches such as a list restaurants in a specific area instead of always needing a specific address. 6.Very great for giving directions. Almost always accurate. 7.Considers traffic in areas when giving time estimates. 8. Easy to integrate with other apps Cons 1.Sometimes(rarely) the routes aren't always updated which can cause confusion 2.The scaling is kind of bad at times and does not scale realistically. 3.Collects your location data. Pros This software is free, and comes in handy for business and personal life every day. I love how it accounts for traffic, and gives multiple route options when leading me to my destination. Cons This feature has improved tremendously over the years, but sometimes I feel the app does not give adequate notice before a turn, especially on the highway when you may have to cross multiple lanes. It has great features like being able to view a timeline of locations previously visited on certain dates. Pros The app offers a street view and 360 feature that I highly enjoy. It lets me see a 360 degree view of locations. Cons Sometimes an address might be slightly off on the map. If I have to plan to go anywhere I have to use this as it will tell me my route, time any jam, etc. The best thing I like is the color coding of the road which changes depending on traffic. This app is made for all types of people since it has 4-wheeler, 2-wheeler, and walk options. Cons Sometimes in order to select the shortest route it takes us through private property/village which ultimately takes more time. Pros Quick updates for the route to avoid delays. Decent map detection. Super easy to use. I use this over my map app that came on my iPhone. Cons I know this is such a first-world problem, considering not long ago I was printing directions off the internet and reading them while driving, but map detection always seems to be about 200-300 feet off, which has resulted in me missing a turn here or there. Cons Although the driving maps are always up-to-date, I find that if I zoom in on an address, it will show an old picture/street view from when the Google Map creator drove by and that could be a couple of years ago. Google Maps has become essential for all drivers and people who try to find what and where they want to go. One more pro is that I can choose which road I should take and see any real-time traffic ahead before going. Cons Cons: There are so few that I can say, but the main cons for me is that some time the instructions for the navigations take me to the long road rather than send me the route of less traffic and less time of travel.
