August 1, 2018 3.0 Pros It has almost everything you need: locations, maps, routes, satellite, 3d, public transportation and it is free forever. Cons As almost every Google product, as time goes by, the app is getting worse. Some capabilities have bee disabled, for example, now is not possible to find the best route if you are offline (it used to be possible to navigate if you saved the map previously in your phone, which was a very useful tool in areas with no service). I like the ease of finding resources nearby the mapped address. Cons Older versions would put the distance a lot easier than now. You have to manually gauge the distance or go to directions to get a distance. At one time it would just tell you the distance between two points. I also wish it had more ability to use push-pin type mapping options or multi criteria mapping options. Pros Google Maps is just one of those things that people use all the time. All you have to do is just type in something like "Korean restaurants near me" and it will literally pull up the address of restaurants with a directions button to help you find a route to get there. Cons However a major con for me is that sometimes the mobile app tends to glitch and then I would be driving a half-mile in the wrong direction, which is honestly pretty funny but still a little frustrating. It allows me to focus on the road. In addition, the travel duration estimation is always on point which makes my planning easier. Cons At times the app tends to lose bearings and instructs you to turn left instead of turning right. This only happened to me once but I think it needs looking into. I'm in Turkey, and other services don't cover half of what Google Maps have. The reviews are critical and helpful. You get to use Street View which gives you a 3rd real-life version of the location. Cons Poor retrieving maps in Android, it may stuck to show nothing. You can easily edit some location's titles. Privacy is not a priority (although, from a legal prospective, it's covered). Therefore I have whole route before my trip starts. Cons There are places where the map coverage is not good. I faced that several times. Sometimes I use Google maps multiple times a week. It is by and far the most comprehensive product of its kind. Pros The product is easy to use. It is very useful I’m making deliveries. It is accurate. And it’s quick to use with several different options including alternate routes. Cons If I had to pick one feature sometimes the routes are not updated in real time which is very difficult with pop-up construction sites and the like.
