School Secretary Education Management Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Use it one time per year to move kids into their homerooms for the following year." June 6, 2022 5.0 We are quite happy with the results. The first year we tried it with only grade three. Those teachers sorted their baseball cards and used Class Composer. They ended up being almost identical in results. That was pretty good!! We want balanced classrooms and this saves time. Pros This saves our teachers an enormous amount of time. We used to make "baseball cards" on index cards for each student and then they would lay them out on the conference room table and try to figure it out. It was time consuming and I had to break up a few fights!! Cons Since we only use it once a year, we have a "learning curve" each year! Reason for choosing Class Composer One of our teachers heard about this product when she was at a training session with teachers in other districts. When she heard about it, we took advantage of a free trial and then we bought it the following year. I think it has been three or four years that we have used the product. Also, the technical support was always immediate and helpful! Pros We have been so impressed at how user friendly the program is and how much time it has saved us versus the old pink and blue card way of building classes. Our data clerk was even more impressed at the ease for her to download the report to use for entering student schedules. Cons We have multiple types of classes on the same grade level: English, Spanish Immersion, and Dual Language. We would have liked to be able to set these up separately so that the "compose" option could be used on just one program versus all of them. Review Source JB Jennie B. We can easily keep track of student academic data that helps us make "data driven decisions" about Sped and Title students. Cons The stuff I forget about setting up the next year to create classes. This is more a me problem not a software problem. Reason for choosing Class Composer Because it is the easiest to use, customer support is great and it complies all of the important information that needs to be sent from one grade level to another. June 9, 2022 5.0 Pros Implementing Class Composer gave my school an objective method of building classes based on student data. The administrators and faculty love the student cards, which were customized to reflect the school's climate and culture. The historical data is invaluable, and allowing the algorithm to sort students allows for heterogenous classrooms. In addition, the help desk is responsive, and goes above and beyond to ensure that its customers are satisfied. Being new at it, I have questions that are answered very quickly. The team is extremely helpful and willing to help in every way possible. Pros I like the visual of seeing the color-coded classrooms and being able to have multiple eyes on the class lists without the paper trail. Also, having the continuity from year to year is extremely valuable. Cons No Cons so far. Just trying to learn the system to help others be efficient and create the optimal classroom lists. So far the initial setup has been simple and self-explanatory. Customer Support is great. Pros Class Scheduling is a critical part of preparing for upcoming school year. We are new to Class Composer, but our setup experience has been great, and we can't wait to see the finished product. Cons Only inconvenience I have found is not being able to delete/ archive a group of students. Deleting 1 student at a time is too time-consuming. Thankful customer support has been top-notch.
