The back of house and front of house capabilities did prove to be incredibly helpful to my entire team! Pros Caterease is wildly affordable platform for our small boutique catering firm. Our chef loves the updating and managing his new and seasonal recipes within the software. Cons It did seem to feel outdated overtime. With so much competition in the market, I did find It hard for Caterease to keep up! It might not be the prettiest software on the market, but it holds an incredible amount of data and keeps our busy catering business running smoothly. If you are willing to invest the time into proper training and setup, it provides a level of detail and organization that lighter programs simply cannot match. Pros The sheer depth of functionality for catering operations is unmatched. I rely heavily on the customizable event prints and screen displays to ensure my team only sees the information relevant to their specific roles. It completely eliminates the risk of double booking rooms or equipment, which used to be a major headache for us. The ability to generate detailed kitchen prep lists, pack lists, and financial reports from a single data entry point is a massive time saver. Cons The software interface looks quite dated and feels clunky compared to modern web applications. The learning curve is notoriously steep, and it requires significant training for new staff members to feel confident using it. It can also run a bit slow when navigating between different screens or pulling large queries. Furthermore, to access the best features you really need the expensive professional tier, and any custom web form integration usually requires calling customer service rather than doing it yourself. But it breaks down constantly, hasn't been updated in YEARS, doesn't work on apple, no app, no easy way to send payments, no one can ever sign the contracts, looks super bad from the customers standpoint and probably the worst software my business uses by a mile! As a catering company who does weddings, it makes my entire business look less credible. Pros Very Little, It is like driving a tank down a busy road. Lots of features, incredibly clunky but there is some data it stores that others dont. Cons Again, it is like a tank on a busy road. Hasnt been updated in years, needs an owners manual to use it and if you want a repair it take weeks to solve. Useful to be able to calculate food cost by event and to adjust prices as needed Pros Caterease is really easy to learn and use. From the BEO to the invoice it is all there so a chef to banquet manager has all the information for an event to run smoothly and invoicing to be quick and accurate. I have used it for 15 years and while great when it works its crippling when it doesn't and this past year it has wasted so much of my time I should send them a bill. Pros I have used it for years and while it is truly a great tool issues are constant. Cons Currently I have not been able to log on for two days and when I did it was really slow. But them not having customer support on the weekend is unacceptable. Think of your customer base most are open on the weekend and I can't get to my information. We do weddings and I currently Saturday and Sunday (today) can't access my event information. As a customer service company who handles clients everyday this program was to be utilized to help that process. In turn it didnt do much of that at all and was an antiquated system that required a connection server that made issues arise everyday. It impeded days of business where i couldn't retrieve my BEOs because the citrix system was down or inoperable. When i would call or email I would generally get sent to more than one individual to try and solve the problem. Functions of the program that where said to integrate, did not and when asked when they would be live again they told me "we're working on it" and it still hasn't been resolved to my knowledge. Our senior management team has reached out to your company directly but has not heard back. Our records indicate that you had some problems with password resets. While these can sometimes be tricky, we have recently implemented multi-factor authentication into the program which eliminates the need for password resets at entirely. Additionally, we see that you experienced a problem when Google updated their integration platform and broke our interface with their calendar tool. That has been addressed as well and is no longer an issue. We regret that these issues kept you from experiencing the scope and power of Caterease and would be happy to work with you to help you explore the full potential of this program. It is the bedrock of our operation, and I cannot imagine what our department would do without this software. It's a game-changer. Pros Caterease makes it so easy to communicate to our kitchen what is needed and separate items in the menu by cooks/salad/bakery workers. The order form that is populated is easy to read, and is consistent for everyone in our department to easily understand what is needed and who needs to do it. Cons Caterease could use an autosave feature, as well as the ability to recognize trends and offer changes to the user based on the trends.
