Pros Duo Security is a great product to fill a very specific gap in infrastructure security, specifically for SSH management. For requirements for 2-factor authentication for SSH, Duo is quick to implement Cons Duo is difficult to enroll users with, which creates a significantly higher administrative overhead than other options. There are also significantly more delays in the Duo pushed-based notification systems (depending on the user and their network, etc.), which can cause issues for users authenticating. Pros Some tech got paid to inflict this software on users. Cons TIM WOODS and DOWNTIME! will lose 2% to 10% of a normal day dealing with Duo Security. Pros It adds more security to my important online accounts, like my work and school e-mail accounts. Using this software, it is impossible to login to those accounts without having my phone. Cons Sometimes there's a glitch when I try to login my account causing the push from Duo apps doesn't come out on my phone, and need to restart the apps. I’ve never had an issue with that using other security programs. Cons This app is painfully inconvenient to use. It uses dual security so you either have to get a call, text, or approve on the mobile app every login to the platform you are logging into. I wish that there was a way to stay logged in for longer periods of time on you known and secure devices. I would not recommend this program to others looking for a way to boost their security. Pros The best thing about DUO is the possibility it gives you to define different access policies depending on the users, devices, where it is located and other contextual factors. It is really very granular the way it can be applied. Cons It is very important to define well the policy that you want to use at the Managerial level, because this will define the time necessary for the first load of user information in DUO to later be used as a double authentication factor; which can be very tedious and unfriendly. July 17, 2018 5.0 Pros I think it keeps accounts really secure because you can set up the account to be able to send push requests to a finite amount of devices. It's also pretty easy to use because you just press one button and it works very quickly to grant/deny access. Cons The 6-digit passcodes that are there that you can regenerate whenever you want are a bit confusing and it's hard to know what those entail. A big cost saving! Pros Easy to deploy to multiple machines manually or at once, the admin portal is easy to follow and allow exceptions. Cost is very down to earth! Cons Sometimes as an MSP, we've a common Support login account and we want to have multiple members in our team authenticate via MFA using their own devices. The product does not give option to do so via the Duo app, although it is possible to have a security code manually used for MFA (which lets us use the product that way). Relatively easy to deploy with individual policies so that only some users need to authenticate and not others. Cons Sometimes slow to receive push notifications. If you miss a notification or walk away from the computer, sometimes the prompt will freeze on screen. The texting feature being so off and on is the biggest bummer, however, it's easy to use and quick to authenticate. Pros It's a fairly easy way to authenticate when needed for secure pages. I've used it in all of my jobs as two-factor authentication with sensitive and secure pages. Cons Sometimes the texting feature doesn't work. I click the "text me" button but it never sends the code to my phone. Therefore, I always just use the call me feature but it can be a bit annoying to have to always answer and press a button. It's user friendly and easily deployable Pros DUO is an extremely user friendly security software. This is an effective solution that can be implemented at every employee level of an enterprise. Options available with physical tokens or via mobile application make it versatile for any environment. Cons I haven't come into many issues with DUO and I used several other options on the market. Implementation was so easy and adding users is no problem at all. It's a great software. Pros Duo is so easy for our employees to use. Since all you have to do is click on a push notification to sign in with it, it doesn't add a lot of time like other MFA options. It's also really easy to integrate with all our software and logins, and we never have issues with it. I highly recommend Duo for anyone who needs an easy TFA or MFA solution. As we implemented the product in our organization we were impressed with how little hand-holding was required for our user-base to adapt to the new authentication workflow. Cons This is going to seem nitpicky, and it is, but when the mobile application was recently re-written the location of the "accept/allow" login button switched from one side of the screen to the other. The 2-FA codes and notifications are always generated and delivered in real-time. Cons I face some issues with accessing the app or authenticating over LTE/mobile data.
