December 2, 2025 5.0 I have used Khan as a teacher since 2011, and it is the best interactive math software that I have used. My students like it, and many of the questions are quite entertaining, which students love. Pros I love it because students get instant feedback when they miss a question. They can either watch a video or look at the step by step hints. Cons Some of the videos are long and have a lot of pauses, however, you can fast forward to the explanation. Between different lessons, different courses, as well as your profile, the structure of Khan Academy is quick to set up and move onto learning. Cons I didn’t enjoy using Khan Academy because the explanations sometimes felt too drawn out or too simplified, depending on the topic. At the same time, certain exercises seemed too repetitive. Switched from [Coursera for Campus](https://www.capterra.com/p/228539/Coursera-for-Campus/) I switched to Khan Academy from Coursera because I preferred its more interactive and straightforward learning style. Khan Academy offered shorter, focused lessons and immediate practice problems, which helped me grasp concepts more quickly. It also felt more accessible and less overwhelming compared to some of the longer, lecture-style courses on Coursera. Review Source ES Ellen S. When I first found it, it was like winning the lottery. Everything I needed at my fingertips, and it was free... Amazing. Pros It has everything that you can imagine all in one place. Super simple to use even for a newbie. As a former ACT coach, it is amazing to find tools on Khan Academy that are geared toward that as well. With budgets the way that they are, because it is free, everyone has access to the wealth of information. Cons NOTHING! I cannot think of one con (Khan)! Pros Khan Academy offers a variety of courses in different disciplines which is something good for people who want to learn different things. I like that learning at Khan Academy is free and available for anyone. Also, Khan Academy offers quizzes and exams after each lesson to test my knowledge. Cons Khan Academy has few subtitles for the most talkative languages only. Khan Academy doesn't have any advanced courses. Most of the courses are offered for beginners. Pros I like the approach the Khan Academy takes to its courses. Providing videos and walkthrus are great for the students. The test prep is especially helpful. Cons The content is a bit lacking. Core subjects are covered quite well but as a complete solution, it needs to add more elective content. Computer Science in particular is not a robust as it could be. It helps to create and promote a culture of furthered learning and problem solving, helping my students to take charge of their learning and progress at their own pace. I could not imagine not having it in my classroom anymore! Pros My favorite part about Khan Academy is how it can be so easily incorporated to support self-paced and extension learning. The targets (lessons) are so well organized and the program itself is incredibly easy to navigate. Many of the lessons contain helpful tutorial videos which help support learners as well. My students get about fifteen minutes a day to progress through the math lessons, and Khan Academy has served to significantly boost students achievement in that time. It isn't a replacement for our full curriculum, but it is used to supplement and fill in gaps. Cons There isn't much to dislike about Khan Academy, but one gripe I do have is how busy the design is. Sometimes, particularly in the introduction to using the program, my students can get overwhelmed and unsure where to go and what to click on to find their work. It mirrors what they're learning and makes it more fun than just a worksheet. A slight trick them into learning type of thing. The characters are sweet, and the content is perfect for every age and stage of learning. Pros We LOVE Khan Academy. My husband stumbled upon it years ago for our oldest daughter, and the content is spot on for exactly what kids are learning per grade. Now my son is in Kindergarten and he is using it too. Every area they've struggled with is featured on this app. And it's free! Cons I do not have any complaints about Khan Academy, except that I wish they offered a Spanish option. Both of my kids are in a Spanish Dual Language program, and we love Khan for English so much that I wish they had one for Spanish per grade too.
