Also, I recorded some gameplay to share with my friends, and it really does the job. Pros The software has a fairly intuitive interface. Also, their preferences are highly customizable Cons Fraps is a pretty basic app. That is why there is not much that can be criticized for a program that just monitors the number of frames of your programs and records your screen. Pros It had a strong community when I was using it. This made it easy to use. Cons The size of the saved files is incredibly large. Pros I'd say that the thing that Fraps has going for it is that it's super easy to use, super easy to install and it's a relatively lightweight software. Cons Now when it comes to the cons. It's not that it's bad, it's just not good in comparison to what the new and free software are doing. Not to mention the dreaded watermark. Anyone who had to screen capture something knows what I'm talking about. It's time Fraps revamped or updated into something more modern and with more features. Pros I liked how easy it is to get started. It is very effective at recording gaming content and doesn't require you to be tech savvy. Hopefully, the developers can improve it over the time. Pros The main advantage of Fraps is that it's very simple to deploy, configure and use. If your task is to only count FPS used software and games, it can be very useful. Cons However, when it comes to other functionalities of Fraps, it is very mediocre. I definitely wouldn't recommend using it for screen recordings: first, it will consume a lot of memory from your precious hard drive capacity, second, the videos come somewhat laggy (at least based on my personal experience).
