Pros I like that AfterPay is user-friendly inside the app when shopping and looking for stores. Putting all their available stores in categories makes it easy to navigate through and there is a variety of stores. Anyone can find a store to shop at. I like that they offer in-app and in-store options and I like that they have a rewards program. Cons The speed of the app when going from store to store or category to category can improve. It is way too slow and very frustrating. I get impatient most of the time I am in the app and start clicking everywhere because nothing is happening and when it finally wants to wake up and go it clicks me everywhere I clicked except for the intended location. It’s a great pay system that allows people to split payments up and pay overtime instead of just using a credit card. Pros I just recently found Afterpay. I am glad I did as it’s a wonderful program that I’ve passed around to my friends and it’s been a success. Cons I did find it difficult contacting someone when I needed to or just had a question. I like the convenience, affordable monthly payments, easy account management and that it's super user friendly. They have a mobile app and you can access it on a computer. Super convenient and easy to learn. Pros I absolutely love Afterpay. The no interest and affordable payments make purchasing something that is expensive a lot easier. It's super convenient and easy to sign up. There aren't any hard credit checks and a lot of retailers use the platform. Cons Obviously a downfall is that there are late fees if you don't make the payments on time and sometimes it may lead certain people to spend more than they think they can afford monthly. With the emergence of other pay-in-4 options, I'd still take Afterpay above the others (Klarna, Affirm, etc.) aside from Shopify Installments (for Shopify brands). Pros My experience using Afterpay is in conjunction with Shopify only. It was easy to install/deploy and their team was very helpful in the process. Once the script is installed, it just works. Customers see the details on product pages and the option to use it during the checkout process. Cons The dashboard is outside of Shopify and the reporting isn't always clear in Shopify for which orders use Afterpay and which don't. It was also difficult to find how to adjust the minimum order value to qualify for Afterpay use. Lastly, the in-cart implementation for the Shopify AJAX cart required a back-end developer while I was hoping it would just be a simple toggle in the app's settings. " October 25, 2022 1.0 I was on an unpaid sick leave that unfortunately for me resulted in 1 or 2 missed payments. I’ve explained that I was terribly Ill and was not paying attention to the fact that ANY of my accounts set of for autopay was being rejected due to an expired card. UNLIKE most sensible merchants who contact their LOYAL CUSTOMERS or any customer when they notice a payment has been missed, AfterPay resorts to NON HUMAN FORMS OF COMMUNICATION! Less than a month later when I was back on my feet I IMMEDIATELY PAYED OFF THE PAYMENTS MISSED ALONG WITH THE ONES THATS WASNT DUE. To my surprise, PENALIZED BY AfterPay DRASTICALLY! My spending limit that was near $2000, a result of on time payments since late 2019 had been decreased to $50. ALL of my rewards stripped! I tried to appeal this by reaching out to customer service but received repetitive emails not explaining the drastic PUNISHMENT, but a regurgitated script of “SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE THIS HAS CAUSED….SPEND MORE MONEY TO BUILD BACK UP YOUR LIMIT.”The NIGHTMARE continued when I conceded and took the L when I realized AfterPay is A COMPANY WHO HAS NO REGARDS TO THE PRESENT DAY ISSUES WHERE THEIR CUSTOMERS HEALTH COULD BE THE REASON BEHIND A MISSED PAYMENT! The past couple of days I’ve been trying to buy 2 items under my now $50 spending limit. AfterPay HAS REJECTED EACH ATTEMPT CLAIMING THAT THE PURCHASE EXCEEDS MY SPENDING LIMIT! Pros At first it was a convient way to purchase what you WANT without making any sacrifices to you important and necessary bills. I would use the service to by clothing, perfumes, sneakers etc. Cons AfterPay is good until you have an issue. The company causes issues that impacts your account for months at a time and the consumer has no control over what happens! In the end a fun service turns to an unnecessary nightmare!My problems started when I received an Email from Afterpay support that my account had been Hacked. I responded to the Email and that was the beginning of the end. You would think changing my password would be fix the issue but it wasn’t. The various agents working on my case forgot the reason of my inquiry to THEIR email turned into me reaching out to them to report a breech in my account. This took over 2 months to resolve! I purchased a "Dyson -like" hairdryer/ air curler from a place called CURLY. And it arrived this super cheap plastic product that doesn't work. I sent the product back immediately with a shipping tracking and wrote CURLY to let them know I returned the product and then they stopped messaging. I've now been "in contact" with afterpay about it for 2 MONTHS! Even though they've seen proof my product has been returned to CURLY, they've continued to take each payment out and keep saying "we are still waiting to hear from the merchant". When it comes to klarna and affirm, when they see you've returned a product, that company themselves refunds you immediately. Way more reputable and safe to borrow from. Right now I have no product and am out $200 from AFTERPAY not taking responsibility from a horrible company. Review Source DH Delena H. We have been trying to get on their catalog and participate in Afterpay day and other promos for the last 2-3 years, we were directed to marketing and told to upload our assets, we did that and nothing happened, then we sent them several emails, never heard back, emailed multiple different areas to find out the status, nothing, no response. To date we have never heard back or been added to to the catalog and can’t participate in their promos. " July 21, 2023 5.0 My overall experience with this app is extremely smooth, the interface is user friendly and I love seeing that they are working with more stores/vendors every week! Pros I love that you see the benefits of making on time payments over time as the app is utilized. When I first started using Afterpay I only had $500 to spend and now I am able to spend well above that if I want, just because I make on time payments. Cons I wish I could pre-set automatic payments for other lengths of times. For instance, I use my Afterpay primarily to purchase pet supplies and cosmetic products, I go in each week and schedule early payments because the app won't let me schedule them for auto pay at other intervals, more specifically weekly.
