Customer service is good and helpful. Would like to see more features added. Has made my life easier even in the manufacturing world. Pros Love the ease of making the nutritional analysis. Easy to find the items needed Cons Need to be able to email and easily add items that are not found. Bakery Manager Food & Beverages Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Does exactly what it says and exactly what we need" August 23, 2022 4.0 It has a bit of a learning curve, but it so much that I can't imagine operating without it. Pros This allows for tracking and labeling of all nutritional information. It stores and backs up all the nutritional data we need, creates ingredient labels that fit the ever changing legal requirements, and allows us to keep appropriate labeling for a large menu. Cons The UI is a bit dated and a couple things are not a user friendly as they could be. Once you get past the learning curve, though, it works great. Review Source KM Kate M. Quality Technician Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Using this program is a constant battle!" July 19, 2018 2.0 Forced me to learn coding so that I could build my own data management system. Pros I started out loving this program. The ability to enter the exact ingredient you use and use one recipe as an ingredient in another is great. But, unfortunately, the honeymoon phase only lasted about a month because all the glitches, unexpected crashes, and limitations became glaringly obvious. Cons At first it seems like this program has a ton of great features, but many of them don't actually work. The nutrition calculation for the most part is accurate, provided that the processing yield doesn't inexplicably change itself. I'd say the program crashes about 2-12 times a day depending on usage and how it's feeling. We've got about 700 recipes to keep track of and I think that's just too much for this program. The cost analysis also sounded great at the beginning, but can be inaccurate and attempting to use the overhead calculator crashes my system every time. There is a Yahoo group run by the developer that you can join which I think would be helpful for learning the basic functions of the program. Although they are quick to respond, it doesn't help with the big issues like the constant crashing and unexpected changes the recipes seem to make "themselves." Additionally, when I've needed support, it's been quick and effective. Pros This program has a learning curve, and quirks, but once you learn it (like all software) it's very easy to navigate and get what you need. Cons The UX (interface) is very 1990s, and there are some simple things that are irritating. But this is the case in just about all software. Review Source LC Lynn C. It has a great database and functionality. Cons It's not very sexy in today's software world. I wish it had some of the functions I've seen in other similar software. Pros Allows you to take as many or as few considerations as you like. Such as before cooking as well as after cooking with the nutrient differences. I have been using this for over 13 years and he has always been available if I ever had any issues, even going as far as to restore a decade worth of data I thought was lost when I had a server crash at my facility. This is an invaluable tool and \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] knows how to keep it working for my business. Pros I use nutraCoster to create nutrition panels for products we produce and it does a fantastic job. We also produce products for international markets and the changes to label styles and formats is key. I wouldn't be without it! Cons The functionality for defining units on a nutrition panel is a little cumbersome. Once you have it figured out, it works fine, but the Swerving Size Helper is a little clunky. I'd love to see the glitches fixed, but even with them I can price out new recipes quickly and easily. Pros Costing out new recipes is quick and easy, adding labour costs is a breeze. This software has been amazing with helping me price my menu and make sure I know exactly what my costs are on everything. Cons Setting it up was a lengthy process simply because I use a lot of products that weren't already in the system, but now that they're in it's easy! My biggest complaint would be how frequently it glitches. I've gotten used to it all and know how to work around it or to just be patient when I have to wait for it to restart after crashing, but it would be amazing if the glitches were fixed. Retail/Office Manager Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Basic program to calculate very approximate nutritional value and product cost" April 4, 2018 3.0 Pros This program comes configured with many different ingredients and different types of those ingredients (e.g. boiled eggs, raw eggs, etc). You can enter the ingredients and amounts for your recipe, and then produce a nice Nutritional Facts table to print/implement on a label. The interface supports keyboard interaction fairly well. Cons Has the expected freaks and glitches of a program that is not heavily developed; takes some time to learn the intricacies and variants in the interface, in order to use it efficiently. Very complicated to move the data to another computer when moving the program (single copy only, no network sharing!) The tech support has been readily available to answer any of my learning curve questions and they are always happy to help. I especially appreciate that the more I learn about the program and my products, the more options I can use in nutraCoster. The level of detail available is outstanding, but using just the standard functions works easily as well! The option to have a second workstation on our network is priceless. As well, the tech team has frequent quick updates that have kept the system running well, and very stable. Cons I have not found anything to dislike about this software.
