But nothing comes without a little bit of effort, am I right? Despite its difficult learning curve, especially for beginners, the software becomes super easy to use. It is clean, has a simple interface and a vast set of tools that allows you to make 3D printing as simple as it can be. The cost is high but you get a nice product in return that is definitely worth it. Cons In my opinion, the software lacks of proper updates from time to time. Also, I noticed the customer service is not as good as it should be. Every time I found an error message during my 6-month experience, I was not able to get a useful answer from the customer service in proper time and I had to dive into internet forums to try to fix it. Supports are a dream and made printing enjoyable for me. Until this I was printing rough parts where the supports wouldn't disengage with the part itself. Simplify3D has perfected supports and although has it right with the defaults most of the time, does have the ability to tweak things that affect the density of the material touching the part. When I bought my first dual extruder printer I was having difficulty with the concept of two things working together. If you are only using one extruder then it makes no sense for both to be at temp for hours, but if you forget to bring something back to temp later in the print you cannot extrude and end up with a mess later. Simplify3D treats a print as a series of independent "processes" each with their own set of properties and print order. If a process requires both extruders to be hot, you can set it to dual. Another process in the same print might only use one and will not keep the unused extruder at temp. This is where I feel Simplify3D really shines. It even has a dual extruder wizard that asks a few questions and sets up the processes for each automatically. Pros I purchased Simplify3D to help me with support structures that were ruining the look of my prints. I wasn't having fun with my printer - that changed when my first print came off using Simplify3D and I was able to breakaway my supports with one fluid motion leaving a smooth surface on my part. Their approach of using less material at contact points creates a crisp breakaway nearly every time. Cons In the version I started with there wasn't the ability to cut the structure into sections like other printing software provided. This is handy when something doesn't lay flat perfectly or if the part can't be seperated into individual sections. This is not a big issue since you can do this in the CAD and export as individual peices. Reason for choosing Simplify3D I had read a review from another 3D Printing novice saying Simplify3D "made printing enjoyable" for them. I didn't feel like I was having fun and this comment really resonated with me. Review Source WS William S. And while they do provide similar capabilities, I always find myself back with Simplify3D. Pros The print preview is a big advantage and saves time and material. Being able to preview a print, layer by layer or line by line enables you to spot problems before you find them in the middle of a print job. Cons The price of the software is on the high side, particularly when there are competitive products out there for free. Per Simplify3D the purchase price does include "1 year" of free updates. However, after more than 2 years my software continues to be updated and is running the latest and greatest version. Review Source BS Bob S. Should have done this sooner Pros I use Simplify3D as a Hobbist to keep me sane from my real job.I used to use SuperSlicer, Prusa, Cura and a Host of others and had some Haunted prints that just wouldn't print right. We had a forgotten copy of Simplify3D from forever ago that I thought to try.I just Worked !No Tuning, no Tweakeing, no cursing. The first print using S3D was better than anything from my other highly tuned slicers.In watching the printer moves, it did things more efficiently, smoother, and had a better overall "plan" for what it was doing.It has become my "go to" slicer and I even paid to upgrade to the Latest version. Cons I wish I could connect it Directly to Repetier-Server (another version of Octo-Print) EASILY. I know it is possible, but it is not as easy as my other slicers. Review Source GV Giorgio V. La versione 5.0 è velocissima nello slicing. Cons A mio parere si potrebbe inserire la possibilità di utilizzare delle textures. Già qualche altro software utilizza questa funzione.
