They consistently make it IMPOSSIBLE to actually talk to anyone in English (which I find very ironic) about customer service needs. I have called multiple times. Each time I have been handed off to multiple people only to be told that they cannot help me and to call again another time. Due to the consistent run around with customer service, I get the impression that there are employee incentives to prevent customers from adjusting their learning programs. The evergreens clauses in the Bootcamp and Regular Course contract options are cumbersome to navigate. The lack of customer service has ended up costing me over $200 more than planned. My recommendation to OpenEnglish are: Provide a Spanish and English language service at the front end of your call center operations. My recommendation to anyone considering this service is to read the fine print in the contracts and be prepared to get a hard sell (think timeshare sales techniques) on the front end and back end of your experience. I don’t recommend OpenEnglish at all. You are better off using a different platform and learning service. Good luck! Pros The different learning methods and flexibility were appealing. No replies to sent emails and no possibility of phone contact. Pros Good value for money. Interaction between students and teachers. The idea behind the platform is very good. Cons Terrible customer support – no contact in case of problems, and they do not respond to messages. There is no possibility of phone support if your phone number is from a country not supported by Open English. Half of the course was completed and then the account was removed without any prior notice, which makes this a high-risk transaction. If you think calling customer service will help, be aware that an automated system answers in an incomprehensible language and then disconnects the call. It also allows you to have a lot of vocabulary and fluency over time. Pros It is a very complete software. Through the different activities and themes, it allows for a broad vocabulary to be covered, for reading comprehension to be worked on and the live classes are very nutritious since they allow for good feedback from the instructor in most cases. Cons Some instructors are not that friendly and give the class without the passion to transmit the language. Some teachers leave something to be desired, but they are the minority, most are very cordial and attentive. Pros I liked the ease of learning, classes with people who are fluent in English. Cons I already had classes with some professors who were unwilling to teach, spoke too fast, had no patience. But there are few classes like that!
