Even for those with not much accounting experience can use this software at a basic level. Pros The versatility to use it among many types of businesses. It is an intuitive program that suits small to medium businesses. Customization of reports for accounting purposes is very useful. Customization of invoicing and the use of classes for project management can span different types of companies needs. Price point is fair especially when compared to larger ERP systems that often contain too many bells and whistles and make it harder for broader use among staff. Customer and Client support is friendly and usually resolves issues or questions. Cons Quickbooks will tend to update the format/use of reports and dashboard that sometimes does not result in better outcomes but just having to relearn a process. Working in accounting, one likes to move thru inputting and reporting with ease and the constant "improvements" can sometimes slow down work. The features are nice and the ease of use is appreciated. Invoicing is fairly easy and very customizable. Tech support is good and responsive, but expect to be on chat or on the phone for a while. Cons The new layout is atrocious. They completely redesigned the UI and it's much harder to navigate. There is no support for dark screen either. However, my experience with their bookkeeping and accounting support was frustrating — long calls, communication barriers, and unresolved issues made it difficult to rely on that service. If you plan to use QuickBooks mainly for its accounting software, it’s a fantastic tool. But if you’re looking for dependable, hands-on bookkeeping support, it may not meet your expectations. Pros QuickBooks Online Accountant is very user-friendly and intuitive, especially for managing daily financial tasks. I loved how easy it was to track income, expenses, and invoices, and the layout made it simple to organize accounts and view reports. Most of the representatives were based overseas, and communication was very challenging. I often spent hours on the phone trying to resolve simple issues, but problems rarely got fixed. It became extremely time-consuming and frustrating, which ultimately led us to stop using their bookkeeping service. I wish QuickBooks would provide more knowledgeable, accessible, and U.S.-based support for customers who need hands-on help with their accounts. New features shouldn't come at the cost of operational stability. If you've also found this frustrating, you're not alone. Pros The ease of mainting my clients books and interacting with them when task need to be completed. Onboarding and set up can be tricky but well worked out. Cons As an accountant, I need to be able to initiate an access request to a client's file because the current email invitation system has proven unreliable for over a year. Even when a client sends an invite correctly, it doesn't reach my email inbox for the invite to to be accepted. I get email from the client outside of QBO. I get Intuit Marketing email without a problem. It is not on the accountant or client side. They shouldn't have to create another user with a different email address. One thing it does really well is reporting. With the Custom Report feature, you can tailor reports to your own needs and pull them in the exact same format whenever you need them. Cons QBs online feels slow when switching, and it can get pretty frustrating at times. When applying payments, there are moments when you need to open an invoice to double check or make a quick edit, but the invoice takes a while to load. Unlike the desktop app, you end up waiting longer than you'd expect. The Aging Report format also changed from what it used to be, and the new setup feels less convenient. Before, you could just click the customer, open the gear icon, and add the rows you needed. We have switched our own internal accounting to a new software and have stopped recommending it to clients. Pros We use Quickbooks for a lot of our accounting clients, it was always what we recommended in the past. The biggest selling feature was its ease of use. We could train clients quickly to perform their basic accounting functions. The accountant edition does have some useful tools. All of our clients are on one dashboard and easy to get to. Managing team members and their client permissions is easy. We no longer use it but billing was simple and straightforward. The software is free for accounting partners as long as you have clients with subscriptions. Cons Intuit is one of the least customer friendly companies I have dealt with. There are constant price increases while they add features that no one asked for or will use. Recently, they completely redesigned their UI and now things that used to take one click to get to take several, if you can even find it. We no longer recommend this product to clients and have moved several over to a competitor when they asked due to the new design.
