I am constantly looking for a new edge so being able to code a new strategy would be helpful. Pros Chart clarity and indicators are by far the most important aspect. The ability to code your own strategies is a very nice features, however, learning thinkscript is a tough learning curve. Cons Using thinkscript is difficult to learn. Trade execution has been outstanding. Pros The ability to place "OTO" (one triggers other) orders, as well as the ability to use an accessory api program to engage in algorithmic trading. Cons Sometimes their inventory of stocks to short is a bit slim. Reasons for choosing thinkorswim Superior functionality and more options for trade execution.
