However, in the initial setup, I struggled to get comprehensive answers from my rep. Pros The dashboard is relatively simple, and the communication with my employees is usually helpful. Cons My rep (who is now gone) was very unresponsive and unhelpful. I often struggle to find answers to questions I have, and when I do need help, it's difficult just to pick up the phone and call someone. Review Source NN Natalia N. At this point I have shifted my work to W2 employment that offers a 403b plan. So far the transition has gone well, and customer service has been helpful. Pros They made it very easy to set up a solo 401k as a sole business owner. Pricing is reasonable too. I had been talking to another company with much higher rates before I came across Human Interest. Also, it syncs well with gusto. Cons I had some difficulty switching between employer and employee dashboards and ended up having to call customer service so they could reset it. Review Source JI James I. CFO Retail Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Do Not Use Human Interest " June 10, 2024 2.0 Pros The only positive I can find with this platform is the clean and simply design of it. Cons Once they have you signed up the will hold you hostage. There is zero customer support unless you pay an unreasonably high price. The support section is just a bunch of useless articles and even the submit an inquiry form never works. Their chat bot is just a bot that points you to their useless articles. The price point does not reflect the terrible level of self service needed there are other better options at similar price points. Review Source CF Cody F. We're happy to have a friendly option, and probably 85-90% of the time things work as advertised, but there seem to be messes on the backend that take a lot of patient cleanup. Pros The employee-facing side of this platform is really good. From the POV of trying to manage cash that's already been transferred to the platform, you have a wide degree of control over funds & contributions, and their data delivery & visualization capabilities are clear, clean, and high-quality. Cons The setup & ongoing support left/leave much to be desired, and there's often a lot of back-and-forth to get clear answers on or solutions to issues with no guarantee of resolution. Account Manager Marketing and Advertising Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Been Using Human Interest for a Couple of Years" October 18, 2022 5.0 I've been very pleased with the Human Interest since my company switched over to them from a local provider, and they have been very transparent both with their fees and their updates on a pay period basis. Pros I think the dashboard is the most simple yet effective part of the software - you can balance your contribution rate, check your history, check your historical returns, rebalance your portfolio, and track updates from the main screen. Cons I wish there were a few more funds to choose from, but overall they have a lot of vanguard funds (your most straight forward equity ones), so that's a plus as those have low expense ratios. My entire experience has been incredibly sub-par and I wish I wasn't forced into this option. Pros It seems to integrate easily with Rippling and was thus probably easy for my employers to set up. Cons Besides the fact this application is humorously simplified (and poorly designed), the biggest issue is their customer service. A company I had a 401(k) with was shutting down and I wanted to migrate that 401(k) to another HUMAN INTEREST 401(k). They asked me to fill out a form, I heard nothing for 3 weeks so I checked in and apparently I had filled out one field incorrectly and the form was rejected. No notification or anything. No worries they say, just re-submit with the field filled out correctly. I re-submitted and still never heard anything after a couple weeks, so checked in again. Apparently I didn't submit in time (even though it was less then 48 hours after they replied to me). They auto-migrated my funds to an unknown manager where I have yet to be able to log in and request to transfer my funds BACK to Human Interest. This should not be this hard - they're working with startups that are shutting down and employees shifting constantly. They should be able to complete this process as easily as their competitors. I prefer having access to advanced options, features, and reporting when I need it. Although I like that Human Interest's product is focused and in its own way delightfully simple, I wish it made it easier to answer questions about portfolio performance on-demand instead of waiting for quarterly reports. Pros Human interest is pretty simple to use as an individual user. It offers simple options that aim to make it easy to save towards retirement. Cons Human Interest lacks advanced features for accounting, data import/export, and portfolio performance or adjustment. It's definitely positioned to help people that are new to investing get started, but it doesn't seem to have as much support for more advanced use cases. Review Source PC Philip C. Simple to see what is going on with your investment accounts at a glance and make any changes quickly. Support is responsive and helpful. Cons It was difficult to merge an old 401(k) managed by Human Interest with a new one earlier this year, but this seems to have been improved with new menu options under "Rollover". Human Interest integrates into the new payroll software and has been easy to use. They walked us through the process at launch.
