I get compliments all the time about my sites that use October CMS and clients are impressed how fast features can be implemented. Pros Easy to install and configure, the backend is great from the go and customizable, and even developers who need to learn things along the way will find it useful and pretty useful. I definitely could have been a better developer when I started and using October CMS actually helped me become a better developer which is great. Cons Having to pay for premium support is a little steep but they are pretty good about filtering dumb questions without making people pay up front which has saved me for sure. The e-commerce part is a bit complicated and maybe some sort of a package would help a lot here. I have error 403 few time a week becouse of that and the problem is that nobody knows how to solve it. Its very strange that you dont want to know about problems like that. How its possible to to make your product better if you dont have a chat support chat. Paiying 100 dollars for every problem which appears will make my bankrupt. Pros General organization. Web skills are not my strong suit. OctoberCMS is light enough that it appeals to my sense of speed and aversion to heavyweight waste, and seems to transcend many of the trendy come-and-go fads in technology. That is why I like it. Pros Have used OctoberCMS off and on for the past five years. It is lightweight and fairly no-nonsense. That means it's fast, and I'm someone who appreciates a more low-level and efficient approach. I have no problem or regrets paying for the license because IT IS WORTH IT. Cons It's a little janky if you want to do something basic like point to a plain old .html file in the directory. Gotta do some fancy footwork for things like that but it is still do-able. In cases when a client doesn't have the budget to build some deeply customised backend, but needs a simple and understandable, extensible interface for the admin or frontend - OctoberCMS has practically no competitors in this segment. Pros Familiar and understandable Laravel structure, availability of a marvellous and extensible admin area. AJAX framework that works on pure JS. Ability to integrate any frontend: Vue.js, React.js, Angual. A good set of inexpensive and even free plugins in the marketplace. Very affordable price. Cons It's not a simple question. Pros The extensibility, how clean and efficient the code is... How consistent and clean the interface is. How we can control every aspect of the code that it puts out... Cons The version bumps. The result was OctoberCMS - simply the perfect way to start with Laravel. There're many video tutorials, a great documentation and plugins like Tailor or the Builder Plugin which supports you in creating own extensions. The more you do, the better understanding do you get of October and Laravel, too. Pros Easy installation, easy configureable and extendable backend. Many plugins and themes to extend your installation if you don't want to start from scratch. Many video tutorials and a great documentation. Cons Even if the community is active and very helpful, it's a small community. But well... we can change this alltogether, right :) Reason for choosing October CMS The other products had some limitations to configure.
