### "Descript is a gamechanger!"

June 17, 2021

5.0

Fantastic. Couldn’t be happier.

Pros

We do a smaller podcast, and it’s cut the editing time in half. The ability to automatically delete filler words and audio gaps has been a major timesaver and the software keeps evolving. The company listens to users and makes changes accordingly. Looking forward to see where it goes from here.

Cons

I have no real complaints. The editing tool can sometimes be a bit wonky, but I think it’s note user error than a problem with the tool.

Descript’s ability to match the transcript with the audio is fantastic. For a small team, it truly makes editing a breeze.

### "You're all in one Video Editing platform - with superb AI powered tools"

Superb... I hunted for the right product to edit my training & coaching videos. I'll not be looking any further now I've found Descript

Pros

Ease of use, edit video like a text document, AI features

Cons

The initial learning curve. It's such a powerful platform that it will always take a little getting used to. The How To content is awesome and really helpful

Reason for choosing Descript

High Power, Low Price, the AI tools took a little while to become available but are spectacular

### "Descript is a Podcaster's Dream"

June 23, 2021

5.0

I use Descript every week to edit and produce my podcast. I recently hired an editor and he uses it too. It has been a great tool. I was able to figure out how to use it and produce my podcast quickly. And it's fun to use!

Pros

I love that I don't have to be a sound expert to edit my podcast. It's like editing a document so it makes it really intuitive and easy to edit, add music and produce a podcast I'm proud of.

Cons

There are quite a few features so sometimes I get the sense that I'm missing out on ways I could maximize this product and tool. There are probably some videos available but the more the better. Also maybe some guidance on how to build up my skills on Descript - like where to start - would be helpful.

Reason for choosing Descript

I got really lucky because before I started on my podcast, a friend recommended Descript although so many people I know had never heard of it. I tell people about it whenever I get the chance. I'm so thankful I didn't have to use another audio / podcasting tool!

### "Descript is wonderful! Highly recommended"

July 28, 2022

5.0

Pros

Audio/Voice enhancement. Easy video editing, especially using the transcription.

Cons

Doesn't work well yet with HD and 4K video. They are in beta, but it still is so-so. I use my iPhone 13 for video work a lot and prefer 4K. They say that they are working on this.

### "Best for quick and easy editing"

December 25, 2023

5.0

Excellent for what it does, especially for quick video and podcast production.

Pros

Because it's text based, Descript makes editing video and audio easy, especially when working with complex or long files.

Cons

Because it's text based, muting background noise or other minor things that would be easy in a different editor are difficult.

### "Descript is a Decent Software"

January 31, 2023

5.0

I subscribe because it provides value to me with podcast and audio editing.

Pros

I really like the automatic transcription, and the ease of clicking to remove pauses, "oohs" "ums", etc.

Cons

Steep learning curve now and then depending on the feature. You need a decent internet connection, and even then it can seem a bit slow. But this is to be expected with media editing.

### "Descript hooks you with great features and let's you down when you REALLY need them."

March 27, 2023

3.0

I was VERY helpful and now I depend on it. It fails more than it works for me now and support sends me the same answers from their email samples. I REALLY need it today and support just LAYS there!

Pros

I love ALL the great features! When they work! Please don't depend on them though!

Cons

Worthless boilerplate support answers for PAID users. No REAL help for problems.

### "Invaluable Resource for Podcast Editing"

June 15, 2021

5.0

Pros

The Descript editing suite could not be more convenient to learn and utilize for editing your podcast. Perfectly organized and logical in its set up, it cannot get any easier to use this tool. This type of editing software that used to cost a fortune (and take up gigabytes of memory), is now available at an economical price, with all of the capabilities you'd expect - and more.

Cons

Nothing so far. It's been a dream - and fun - to produce podcast episodes using this software package.

Reason for choosing Descript

The ability to edit from an automatically generated transcript is PRICELESS.

### "A game changer for my content creation!"

May 19, 2022

4.0

I've been using Descript for some time now, and I have to say that the software is amazing. It does have somewhat of a learning curve to get started with it, but the time and effort is worth it. It allows you to take long-form audio or video and turn it into multiple short-form pieces. This is a gamechanger because it means you can turn an hour long video into short clips that you can post on social media. I also think the overdub feature comes in handy at certain times to prevent me from having to do retakes just to fix a tiny word mistake I may have made.

Pros

The biggest strength of the Descript is its ability to cut video directly from the transcript. This saves so much time because you don't have to go back and forth between apps or do any editing before you can share your video on social media or other platforms. Another strength of Descript is that it allows me to remove filler words like "uhm" and "ah" from my videos really quickly. This helps me cut down on excess wordage so I can create shorter clips for social media posts without losing anything important in the process!

Cons

Like all software, Descript isn’t perfect. My biggest gripe with it is its transcription. It’s not the most accurate I’ve experienced. But it seems to be improving over time. Another con is that it does struggle with larger video files in my experience, and there are bugs that consistently have to be ironed out. However, with that said, the team does continue to work and improve the quality.

### "Best editing experience I've ever had"

August 24, 2022

5.0

Love Descript. I use it for all my audio/video projects, and the quality of my content is way better because of Descript

Pros

Descript is the easiest editing software I've ever used. I'm no multimedia expert, but I felt so capable of creating great content thanks to Descript's product features. The editor feature in particular - with how you can cut and paste within the transcript itself - is phenomenal

Cons

There are some subtleties to the product that are difficult to learn. I had to watch some help videos multiple times to be able to understand, especially when it came to importing and combining multiple audio files.

### "An Interface That Brings Editing to All!"

May 19, 2021

5.0

The ability to edit the transcript and audio and visual simultaneously saves HOURS of time, and allows me to pull off large-scale projects on a tight timeline without working over hours. SO easy to integrate into accessibility initiatives with the .srt exports directly from the transcripts. The automatic removal of filler words and inclusion of multiple speaker tags are fantastic features.

Pros

This software utilizes the experience of using a word processor, and harnesses it to help make an editing process that is intuitive, easy, and efficient. This makes it a time saver for me, and I have been able to teach non-design and non-tech colleagues how to use it in order to share the production work across various projects with ease.

Cons

Initially, the transcript and audio functions worked excellently, while the video was still a but rough. Now, though, Descript has spent several months upgrading and updating their platform so that the video editing is much more seamless and more can be done through the platform to produce great videos. The overdub is clever and helpful, but requires quite a bit of honing to get high-quality results.

Reason for choosing Descript

The intuitive interface, ease of accessing educational materials and support through their team, and the products ability to enhance our accessibility efforts across modalities.

### "Intuitive and Powerful Software For Editing and Producing Content"

June 3, 2021

5.0

Overall, it was good. However, I was not using it to its fullest capacity - like doing full edits of video, podcasts, narrations, etc. My main use was for the transcription and caption file features.

Pros

For how robust the software is, it's remarkably affordable. The amount of included automatic transcription hours is quite generous, especially compared to other tools.

Cons

The automatic transcription - although very good, missed a LOT of nuances, words and phrases that sometimes made editing the transcription a real pain and a lengthy process.

### "Inspired"

June 15, 2021

5.0

It's fantastic. I'm so grateful to the team who built this and continues to improve the software. They are all adding tremendous value to my life. Thank you.

Pros

This makes editing audio podcasts a real joy. I love it.

Cons

No dark mode. When I'm editing a specific section and I hit play the timeline will move with the playhead and I'll have to zoom out and return to the spot I'm editing to further fine tune. Shortcuts are being added quickly and I am feeling lost. Would love a 1 on 1 coaching session on how to get the most out of the software. I would pay for it if I had to.

It does so many things that help me with my podcast flow, both critical at times while fitting special needs at other times.

Pros

That it came with so many useful features, many of which I am taking advantage of and more that I will down the road.

Cons

### "Feels like magic"

June 26, 2023

5.0

I use Descript for two main things:1. quick edits of short videos that I produce for our social channels2. easy transcription of longer recordings e.g. podcast episodes that we typically get professionally-edited

Pros

A Google Docs-like editor for modifying video literally feels like living in the future. I am not a professional video editor, and so I find it incredibly useful to be able to my own quick edits and rough cuts - especially for video content for social.

Cons

I occasionally find that it is hard to get it to do exactly what I'm trying to do - which is the downside of such a powerful intuitive interface - if you don't want to do the obvious thing, it can be challenging to figure out how to work around (e.g. splitting audio and video tracks etc). But these are minor niggles.

### "Descript is an outstanding platform to create transcripts and edit video"

June 23, 2021

5.0

I use it in my coaching business as well as the VC business I work on.

Pros

Descript is very easy to learn how to use. Just drag a Zoom file over to "New Project" and you're underway. It will identify the individual voices as well as create an "instant" transcript. I especially like the features which get rid of the voice gaps and the unnecessary words (um...like...you know...). Editing is also quite easy to learn and do.

Cons

Sometimes the voice recognition doesn't get it right the first time - it would be nice to have a "do over" button to try it again. Other than that, this is an outstanding program I use on a regular basis.

### "Does exactly what I need it to."

June 23, 2021

5.0

Great product. Because I work only remotely, this makes collaboration a breeze.

Pros

This is THE easiest software to learn. I hadn't used it before a couple months ago and it took me maybe half an hour to learn it. Helpful tutorials.

Cons

The auto hide bar pops up when I'm trying to correct text and slows me down.

### "Best AI tool Editing and Transcription "

July 31, 2022

5.0

Pros

Descript allows me to complete my projects, both video and audio without going back and forth apps to get the job done. It's easy to use for anyone and saves a lot of time. Transcription is a life saver and the automatic removal of filler words and multiple speaker tags are fantastic features. Making it an even more efficient tool is that I can export to other applications in different formats.

Cons

I can't say it's a 100% tool but certainly does get work done for me. Only issue I have is that it's only on desktop version and transcription will not always be accurate.

### "New User But High Hopes"

June 28, 2021

4.0

I have been poking around in Descript for about two months and studying tutorials and am about to start my first full project: screen recorded tutorials for interacting with a subscription software. I also edit a podcast and am SUPER excited to switch from iMovie to Descript because the text editing feature means I don't have to look at wave forms and the audio splicing is so much easier than moving bars around.

Pros

I find the features on Descript are precisely what I need to accomplish my publishing tasks. It is much easier than using a video editing program (for me) because I'm learning here.

Cons

The learning curve is a little steep. It took me a while to figure out what is there and where to get it and how it incorporates with my product.

### "Fast and Easy - Completely changed my editorial process for the better"

May 18, 2021

4.0

The work involved in keeping audio and the content it represented connected in my mind was overwhelming before Descript. The result was that edits that might have improved my podcast ended up not happening due to time constraints. Not only has Descript saved me time, but made the final product more coherent and stronger.

Pros

The speed with which I can turn recorded audio into something I can meaningfully edit from without having to listen and re-listen and try to keep audio sections in mind.

Cons

I would like additional audio processing options (AU plug-in support?), and there are still times where a new update will significantly slow down the application. The ability to watch / listen to published pages on mobile still seems somewhat lacking.

They have a product called overdub which is really fun to use. I highly recommend it.

Pros

This really helps me get my job done,. It's fun to use, too. Great video editing tool and to make content from interviews.

Cons

### "Descript all in one "

December 30, 2022

5.0

Pros

Descript is a great software for easy audio transcription and audio editing. Being able to edit a transcription is helpful to easily find filler words and repeating words to remove from the audio.

Cons

The transcript isn’t 100% perfect. It requires a human to edit if you need a word for word transcription. Also, when needing to fine tune audio it’s not as good as using audacity or Adobe audition.

### "Game changer!"

May 19, 2021

5.0

The way I produce podcasts for me and my clients has been revolutionised with Descript. I now wouldn't work on one without it!

Pros

Having visual access to an audio edit is a game changer! Gone are the days of time-coded confusing and long winded client feedback, Descript allows me and my edit team access to quickly create and amend transcribed podcasts.

Cons

I would like to see improved audio mixing capabilities, via Waves and Izotope plug in integrations.

### "SMOOTH Audio Editing"

June 24, 2021

I've been able to edit audio a lot faster which means faster turn around on my VO project and a lot less friction from starting a project to completion. I used to dread jumping into Adobe Audition to record and edit files for Voice Over. Descript is a lot smoother.

Pros

The quick auto transcription was really a game-changer for editing audio.

Cons

Great, but not the best. not yet at least. Need it to support Arabic
