I haven't been able to automate the entire process yet, because the quality of the generated audio is not that good/natural yet. However, before judging the algorithm's quality, I still need to train better my voice's data and test more. Pros Ease of editing videos. Overdub capabilities. Cons Limitations regarding setting configuring the dimensions of the video screen. Unable to transcribe two videos in the same project. New usability for correcting/editing text/overdub. I tell anyone who talks about podcasts about it because I'm such a believer in it! Pros This software is kinda in a class of its own. Transcription, video, audio, collaboration software all in one and a very easy to use! Being able to edit the transcript OR the wave forms is huge for podcast editing Cons It can be finicky sometimes but when I've needed to go to support, they're fast, responsive, and very knowledgeable! I'll probably start to use its other features for other uses as well. Pros As a podcast host and producer, Descript has been easy to integrate into my workflow, recording directly into the app, letting it automatically transcribe, and then being able to edit pieces or the whole thing with a WYSIWYG interface. It's so easy, I'm quickly taking out "Ums" or adding in pauses or cleaning up pieces. Cons The volume edits only let you amplify or reduce within an entire section so I'm waiting on more nuanced features so I don't have to go back into Audacity or Garage Band for more sophisticated but minor editing. Pros I love the way Descript quickly analyzes spoken-word audio, and provides lightning-fast search to time-stamped words and syllables. Cons I wish the AI were good enough to automatically recreate typed words based on analysis of a half hour or so of recorded material containing arbitrary content. June 23, 2021 5.0 Pros I love how Descript is like editing a word document. While standard editing involves complicated listening and painstaking effort, Descript is effortless. One guest once asked me to edit out his "ums" and "uhs" and offered to rerecord if it was too much work. With Descript, all I had to do was click a button. I love the program! Pros Descript makes editing my weekly podcast a pleasure. I love the features. It does a great job and even becomes intuitive to use in time. I find Descript to be a super useful tool, and highly recommend it to others. Pros I really like having the transcript to make navigation of the audio file much easier. It is also super helpful in identifying editing points. I also appreciate how easy it is to edit individual tracks within the larger audio project and easily drag-and-drop files. Cons I was brand new to podcast and audio editing, which is why I chose Descript. I needed to do outside research for advice about audio levels and how to adjust them. It also took some trial and error to figure out the best way to normalize levels. Generally I have found the tutorials and help forums moderately helpful, but hard to search for certain terms. I find I could de a more professional edit if I went through everything by myself. Descript takes virtually all the paid away and allows be to spend more time on the creative side of our podcast Pros The time save and automatic transcription are absolute game changers Cons The constant updates I find irritating and unnecessary. One the one hand it’s quicker to edit but takes longer because I can create more assets. Pros It’s simple to use and to create different assists for podcasting. It cuts editing time significantly. Cons Limited automated editing. Would be great if certain things could be autocorrect like the spelling of a name or of the show title. Also thought it would be useful to be able to put marker where you want time stamp and then with click it would auto gen show highlights. There’s no affiliate program. Pros The best thing about Descript is that how easy is it to transcript a video on it. I also love the fact that you can simply delete unnecessary words and even change them. Their screen recording plugin is great too. Cons It's a bit on the expensive side and also it's not a full-fledged video editor. You'll still have to use another tool to do the final editing. Pros Descript works great for my workflow because it helps eliminate wasted time by automatically transcribing and giving me a starting point for audio edits. The key feature for me is the ability to automatically remove filler words. It has saved me hours of headaches and continues to improve with each software update. Cons Something I feel that is missing is the ability easily separate out speakers onto different tracks if they were recorded to the same mono file. Pros Because of Descript, not only are all my filler words eliminated with a couple punches on the keyboard, but by seeing the entire podcast episode laid out in front of me, I can also eliminate repeating words and anything else that makes my show sound unprofessional. Cons I feel the filler words section could be expanded, and if the software could identify spots where words are repeated and can be reviewed on a case by case basis, that would help even more. Not the most accurate solution out there, but good value for money. Pros I love that I can dump the recording of our video call into Descript and have it pop out a full transcription. I really appreciate that it identifies multiple speakers and can transcribe even if the speakers have accents. Cons It is difficult for Descript to process Scottish accents, so the readout of those conversations is pretty funny. It can be tricky to use the multichannel. Dragging things doesn't always make them go where you want them too. 2. I would like to be able to export in a lossless format eg wmv.
