From customer service to usage of the portal, all transactions have been easy and without issue. Pros Let's face it, insurance can be complicated. Deductibles, quotes, coverage, non-coverage. And when a client is having an emergency the last thing you want is a long-winded conversation about how the pet's treatment will be paid. Trupanion makes all of these things easy for the client, and easy on the front desk staff to process. The portal allows for same day offers, filing and receiving claims, and uploading of records. We are also supported by a wonderful representative who makes sure to check in with the clinic and hosts team meetings when we onboard new staff who may not be familiar with the use of insurance. What makes Trupanion truly stand out is their ability to pay the hospital directly. I'll be honest, not everyone has $5k sitting in their account for an emergency foreign body but having that peace of mind that Trupanion has the pet covered has made many a client give a sigh of relief. It also benefits the hospital, as we are able to provide the care needed to the patient without concern. Cons I wouldn't say there are things I don't like about Trupanion, I believe sometimes there can be some misunderstanding between the company and client based on what their payment is if the deductible hasn't been met. That falls more to the client/company relationship and making sure the client understands that coverage isn't 100%. I also wish the portal worked as well with the newer PIMS as it does with Cornerstone, but all good things come in time. Reasons for choosing Trupanion We have had meetings with other insurance companies (Pumpkin, ASPCA, Pet's Best), but between the ease of use, the reps, and the overall client support, Trupanion has been our primary recommendation for clients who are looking to purchase insurance for their pets.
