For some reason, google sites does not allow you to add naked domains as additional custom domains. Setting up the redirect is the perfect and easy workaround **Pros:** I like how easy it is to set up redirects. Substack charged me a one-time $50 fee for using my custom domain, kalish.nyc. But the https version of my URL wasn't loading on Firefox browsers, so my domain registrar, Hover, suggested that I use redirect.pizza. I did and a problem ensued: because Hover also had a redirect in place, a loop was created. The tech support people at redirect.pizza promptly responded to my emails requesting help and solved the problem, which entailed Hover removing its redirect. **Pros:** It's free and the tech support is superb. When I ran into complications with the redirect my domain registrar was responsible for, redirect.pizza came to the rescue. **Cons:** I can't think of anything I didn't like about redirect.pizza.
