Pros

  • The ability to assign them as contributors to their won shows and train them on how to post their episodes and update their information has been invaluable.

  • And they have a lot of great content on how to start and improve your podcast on their website.I have to believe their own experiences come through in the app.

  • Been with them for years now and I love it. Technical support is responsive and they are very quick to get things answered and fixed for me if anything comes up.

  • Really impressed with the quality of Transistor's staff. The overall set up and pricing helps running multiple shows much easier and cheaper.

Cons

  • That I didn't find them sooner. So much wasted time on our prior solution and so much lost marketing value for missing key technical issues.

  • The number is quite a bit lower for a long-running pod than the previous host had estimated. However, it's very possible that the previous host was incorrect.

  • Not 100% sure how accurate the subscriber count is.

  • The only place it's missing for me is video integration.

"The Transistor experience"

Overall: Overall I am a firm believer that support is the canary in the coal mine for products. It demonstrates to me that the internal team loves the product, and this means that loving hands are making the food. Our entire team is loving the experience and we hope more people jump on board.

Pros: Hands down, some of the best customer support I've ever experienced. I mean above and beyond to ensure things were working correctly and troubleshooting our internal issues that were honestly out of scope for their team, but they dealt with it anyway.

Cons: That I didn't find them sooner. So much wasted time on our prior solution and so much lost marketing value for missing key technical issues.

Reasons for Choosing Transistor: Support and simplicity. Their product is on target, and their team is extremely knowledgeable in this domain. We needed experts to make sure we never need to think about these issues again and that's exactly what we got with Transistor.
Reasons for Switching to Transistor: I don't want to disparage anyone, but the previous tool was clunky, slow, and created many feed errors.

"Premium Podcast Feed + Multiple Podcasts on One Account"

Overall: Overall Transistor is very easy to use and does what you want it to do. It's by far the best podcast host I've used.

Pros: The ability to host a premium podcast in addition to my traditional podcast feed has been huge for the initial growth of my subscriber-based business.I have been able to integrate the podcast feed with Zaper and Stripe, allowing a new payment in Stripe to auto-send an email with instructions on setting up the private podcast feed. I offer the podcast feed as a bonus feature of signing up for a paid subscription, and Transistor has made the process of doing this extremely simple. I literally haven't had to troubleshoot it once since setting it up. I also have multiple free podcast feeds that I manage under just one account. It's always been very strange to me that other providers don't allow this.

Cons: Not 100% sure how accurate the subscriber count is. The number is quite a bit lower for a long-running pod than the previous host had estimated. However, it's very possible that the previous host was incorrect.

Reasons for Choosing Transistor: The ability to host a premium/private podcast with payment integration is a major advantage that Transistor has over the field. You'll pay higher hosting fees to do this, but you don't owe anyone a cut of your revenue.
Switched From: Podbean
Reasons for Switching to Transistor: The site was constantly logging me out and was a pain to use. They also only allow one podcast per account, which is bizarre.

"A Great Podcast Hosting Solution, Could Use A Few Improvements "

Overall: Overall, Transistor has been great for my business. Fast and easy episode uploading, management and publishing. Simple to teach clients how to manage their show as well, which frees up my time!

Pros: I've found Transistor very effective for me to manage my various client's shows. The ability to assign them as contributors to their won shows and train them on how to post their episodes and update their information has been invaluable. The GUI is simple and pleasing, and easy to navigate. Audio quality for the shows is great, and I have not had any issues shows not going live when scheduled.I had an issue once with a show being pulled off of some platforms, and Customer Support answer me immediately, informed me of a server issues somewhere in the ether, and then followed up when the issue was fixed.

Cons: I feel like the analytics are lacking. This may be less of a Transistor issue, and more of a Podcast Industry as a whole issue, but the analytics don't seems to drill down very far. If they could expand on those, I think that would put them ahead of the game from other hosting services. Additionally, I feel like the price point is very high compared to competitors, while not including much additional value. Other platforms have started adding various features without increasing their price point much - something to consider for Transistor, maybe!

Reasons for Choosing Transistor: A colleague was already using Transistor, so i was able to learn from them and have them help me get set up.

"Took us to the Next Level"

Overall: Transistor was made available to us via a local network and host. we were given admin permissions to run our own shows. transistor may be the best platform for hosting a network. easy to access all your shows seperately. over the course of 2 years one of our show grew to be acquired by a large network for monetization so unfortunately we had to move to their hosting. don't pass on Transistor. distribution was a breeze. easy to be setup to release to the world and start building and monitoring your audience.

Pros: easy to give admin permissions to run our own shows. transistor may be the best platform for hosting a network. easy to access all your shows seperately. distribution was a breeze. easy to be setup to release to the world and start building and monitoring your audience.

Cons: more options for dynamic ads are in the pipeline.

Reasons for Choosing Transistor: recommedation from friend. ease of use and learning the platform

"You cannot do better than Transistor.fm"

Overall: Exceptional service. I had one minor problem with a service they provide that is otherwise amazing. In five days, they had re-programmed their system to make what was already great that much better. I have never been so stunned by customer service in my life; at least, not in a good way.

Pros: --Automatic, seamless YouTube uploads. --A dedicated web page for your podcasts. --The ability to create and run your own ads and swap them out with pre-roll, mid-roll, and post-roll options. --Truly seamless switching from your previous host (I was terrified; they made it SO easy). --Easy distribution to all the podcast distributors I've ever heard of and many I hadn't. --The best customer service I've ever experience with any company, ever, hand to God. --Competitive prices. I pay the same amount I did for LibSyn and get so much more.

Cons: There is nothing I don't like about the software. It's intuitive, sleek and best of all - it works.

Switched From: Libsyn
Reasons for Switching to Transistor: LibSyn wasn't working for what I wanted to do. Basically, I just got hosting from LibSyn. At Transistor.fm, I got hosting and so many features I needed that I didn't even know I needed. For the same price.
