Pros: *HELPFUL IN YOUR DAY TO DAY SCHEDULING *VERY HELPFUL IN INVOICING * MAKING FOLLOW UPS *MAINTAINING CLIENTS LIST

Cons: There is a task feature, so you can create tasks for yourself or others so you can schedule follow ups or check back in with clients. In the past, this has been very helpful, however, with the last update, they have changed the task feature. It still keeps all your tasks in one place, but it is much more difficult to navigate and you basically have to open up the task in one window and open separate windows to view customers accounts to see the history.

Comments: Really great software overall, but it is on the pricy side.

Pros: The software makes it really easy to track the progress of work that is being done. When can easily keep track of how many pests are caught/sighted in hotel rooms, apartment units, or single family homes. You can also set up to automatically schedule follow ups, that way nothing gets missed or forgotten. They have good reporting features to keep track of things. When an apartment manager wants to see one progress on one specific unit, we can pull a report just on the one apartment, instead of giving them everything, so it's easier for the managers to distinguish and read the reports.

Pros: The ability to drill down in the data is great. The program is easy to use day to day, and offers many features to control the business. The new native mobile application is the future.

PastPac has allowed ur company to save money in the routeing of out techs and sales staff.

Pros: I love the best fit feature, which allows our CSR's to know very quickly which tech can respond to a service call the quickest.

Cons: We haven't had the time to use all the data the is available to us . I would like a few tips to help us expand out knowledge of the software.

Overall: It has helped us to better manage our service staff to better serve our customers

Comments: Don't waste your money or time.

Pros: nothing

Cons: Description states compatible with most tablets; this was untrue so we purchased all new tablets from recommended list. On a good day, product is extremely cumbersome & time consuming. After using successfully for a few months product experiences frequent service interruptions, everything from logging you out once job is started to gps not working to sluggish performance. Extremely frustrating for technician trying to get through the day. Support tries to blame it on user error & signal, both of which have been tested and found to be fine. This product indeed this company are not recommended.

Pros: Features like running credit cards on field and auto entering tax codes when adding customers are what we absolutely have to have.

Cons: This software is not user friendly and takes a long time to learn the ins and outs. I have seen there will be a lot of changes next month so I'm hoping this will help.

Comments: Support staff are always there to answer questions and deliver the information understandable

Pros: Geared towards pest control industry and has everything I need. The software is streamlined to what I have been searching for.

Cons: Very large system and takes time to learn. Unfortunately I do not have the time to sit and complete the training in a more timely manner. Therefore I have to input all the information very slowly.

Comments: Better pricing curve for small companies would definitely would be advantages.

Pros: The software is very easy for the support staff users. I like the no nonsense format and clear details at your fingertips.

Cons: The major hurdle for a startup company would be the pricing schedule. It's a tad high for an entry level pest control business.

It has been very difficult to use, where as, I am a Quickbooks user and it is so different. I only use, (know how to use, a small fraction of what the software capability is)

Comments: What really would be nice is to have a one on one in person at my desktop training or a class in town. I have a hard time to take extra hours out of my day to study video training, where I feel I still may not quite get it. I would though make a point to take time out of my day to go to an actual class, where I feel it would be beneficial.

Pros: Reports- Keeps track of the chemical use. I like that my applicator can input information, while working in the field. I like the automated emails and how it separates the bill- to from the location of service. I like the way the invoices and statements look.

Cons: Time consuming to learn how this software works. Over the phone training is not for me. Although the one on one is very nice, but I feel Webinars would be a better way to educate.

Not user friendly at all. Terrible UX. Shady Company.

Pros: The girl that trained me on how to use the product was really nice and very responsive. Ever since I've told them I want to cancel though it's been an absolute nightmare being passed along from one department to another.

Cons: It's like working with a windows 95 throwback. Every task is difficult. Nothing is intuitive. Here's the best part... the company won't let you back up your own data. You have to pay someone at pestpac to do that for you.

This software is archaic and does NOT work. They support is terrible.

Comments: RUN! There are software that you can customize for pest control for less money than this software. They nickel and dime you for each feature. The reports aren't accurate. There is no way to find an accurate report on attrition or growth because they don't know how to program correctly. To run a business of any size on this software is a mistake because you'll never know for certainty what your profitability is and will simply have to guess. I was accustomed for 7 years and they are terrible at addressing concerns that are their fault. Unfortunately, they are The Who's who in pest software, but save yourself some time and headache... look elsewhere and have someone program a crm from another software platform specific to your company. You will spend the same amount of money from lost revenue and customers using this software, but will have something that actually works. All they do is market to upsell features that don't work. Terrible company and terrible software.

Pros: It supposedly has lots of features. However, support guides you to set them up incorrectly because the software is designed for pest control based on 30 year old practices, not modern day business.

Cons: Everything. The reports aren't accurate. The customer support doesn't give proper guidance to fix problems with their software. They don't even understand how the software is programmed, so when there is an issue... they tell you to do something as a workaround that causes more problems. Do yourself a favor and run away! As fast as you can.

Pros: Everything! The office staff is able to stay in contact with the techs in the field with the mobile app.

Overall: I enjoy working with PestPac. It is an easy system to learn and manages everything for you! The support team and on-boarding specialist are very knowledgeable and help you every step of the way! I would highly recommend!

Comments: PestPac has a lot of thought and effort put into it and it helps get the job done. It is mostly geared toward small companies who lack the capabilities to do custom software design. It works as a basic ERP in the sense that it does field service as well as billing. It links to quickbooks if you prefer an external billing system but quite frankly I think you'd be better off saving the money and just using PestPac.

It falls short when you start to expand and require a lot more custom workflows and company specific needs. They take the "good for the goose, good for the gander" approach and system customizations (if seen as favorable) become stock in the product after a period of time. This means that the rest of the industry gets to benefit from your companies ideas. This isn't inherently bad but it can damage competitive advantage.

From a database and design perspective they are using outdated technology and their database could do with a re-write. Tables are often used for multiple situations which can led to a lot of jury-rigging of fields.

If you are a small company that needs data and needs to get the job done PestPac will perform well for you and elevate you beyond competitors who are using paper tickets.
If you are a larger company who strives to use their own secret sauce you will be better served getting a more generic service platform and customizing it to your needs.

Comments: The Pest Pac software is everything in one for a start-up company or an established company. The software can grow as your company continues to grow and the customer service is ongoing and excellent.

Pros: The ease in which it helps to manage almost every aspect of a day for a pest control company.

Cons: The cost for training, once past the initial stage having the training staff either come to you or sending your people out to Pest Pac is very expensive.

Recommendations to other buyers: This software is for serious players only. It is what you need both now and in the future for growth.

Comments: I find the software to be very user-friendly. The variety of reports makes it easy to find out the information you want. As with any software, you get out what you put in. When I do need support, I find a friendly rep on the other end that seems engaged with and knowledgeable about the software.

Pros: I find nothing but Pros

Comments: I was a pest pac user from 2008 to 2016. Over the years little changed in the way of improvements. It was exciting to have a software that had the ability to invoice customers, compile great reports, schedule customers, track leads, process credit cards, process ACH, track commission, connect third party collections partners, track employees, provide up to date state forms, and had communication elements. All this sounds great and like a 1 stop shop. The only and main issue is most of the features don't function at all or as they should. Scheduling took years, the scheduling aids simply did not work at all. I went to a Pest Pac conference and found many other customers that had the same complaint. Pest Pac lead tracking is a joke. I called to complain and the sales person agreed. He tried to sale me another add on services. The only thing worst than the lead functions are the reports. Pest Pac is very antiquated and hard to master. If you do not put information in exactly right you can make an error that cannot be corrected. The report will probably never work for any customer. You would have to be a full time data entry expert to enter information in a way that did not jack up the reports. Finally, billing is holy hell. The service is too pricey and the add ons are a trap. You have to buy add on to use some of the basic features that apart form the package. Tech support also sucks. I ended service in August and received an email in September that said they were still working on an issue I reported in July. Don't bother with Pest Pac. Every other software provider provides the same features in a simpler way. Avoid Pest Pac at all cause.

Pros: Mature company that was a been in the service industry for a while.

Cons: Slow unresponsive tech support, too expensive, feature do not work or work well. To use basic feature you have to pay for add on services, the billing department sucks. The company does not respect the fact that they support other business and the software is vital to the operation of a business. The system goes down for hours at a time and when they do system updates

Pros: Ease of use.
Ease of implementation.
Awesome follow-up support.

Cons: Everything! There's hasn't been one issue with the product and the support.

Overall: The service Workwave provides is golden. We were a small company with limited resources to invest in an IT department. The software is amazing. The service is even better! The whole process from implementation to database management to support maintenance has been absolutely awesome!

We are a much larger company now. We are very efficient and our customers love us. The inside secret is Pest Pac.

Comments: Well lets start with the sales guy Jeremy he must have called me a couple time a day before i would answer then there was the clarity for a short time I didnt need this software so I dropped out but again SMOOTH TALKING JEREMY Talked me into staying hence tellling me I could print invoices with out buying there invoices Then they did a 2 training videos this is not an easy program Wendy acted as if I were annoying her cause i dodnt know what to do

Thorough and very comprehensive!

Cons: None. We have not had one negative thing to say about pest PAC in over the 10 years we have used it. It is ingrained into the culture of our company.

Overall: PestPac has been very instrumental in helping us organize and manage our company. The software is comprehensive, very functional and user friendly. We could not operate at the level we do, with so few employees without PestPac. We estimate we would need an additional 2-3 employees to manage our back office without the software. In addition, we estimate we get between 30-40% more production out of each field tech due to the organization and route optimization capabilities of PestPac.

Recommendations to other buyers: Use it! You'll be glad you did.

Pros: It has most options and items under one roof offers many functions that you can learn as you need them

Cons: It sends invoices to customers as soon as invoices are released. Customers receive invoices that htey have paid at service time but credit cards post second and are not applied at time of release and emails going out. We get a lot of customers telling us they paid already, why are we getting this email etc. saying we owe?? frustrating!!! their route opt feature is not user friendly and very expensive

Pros: The best part is the Mobile App for this software. It is very user friendly.

Cons: The setting up of the company templates/list. You have to set up everything in each individual section.

Recommendations to other buyers: For the most part it is user friendly on the desktop but the Mobile App is the simplest. Awesome job!

Without Pest Pac, we wouldn't be the company we are.

Pros: Without Pest Pac, there would be no way we could manage our current Workforce. Our small office staff of 3 people would never be able to route new services, dispatch emergency calls and handle our $1.5M+ business. It is easily scale-able; so as we grow, so does our Pest Pac software.

Cons: I feel they are a bit behind in the native app development. Not in comparison to other pest control software....just in general. The current version is only 2 years in the making and I think that this is about 5 years behind the curve. It's great as is, but I wish they were farther along.

Recommendations to other buyers: Pest Pac is great for smaller companies or larger organizations.

Even with minor bugs, I'd still recommend PestPac

Pros: Customer service. Workwave has definitely got better customer service support than other software companies. I worked with PestPac before for about 2 years. After that I dealt with Workwave and had to help start another company up. Since working with them, I'm learning to adapt to the new technology and the customer service is great. I don't understand how people can complain because all I do is call them up or email them and I get a response usually within the day. If they can't solve a problem right away, they figure it out, and then call me back and teach me how to do it.

Cons: Only issue I'm really noticing is that with the old technology (Motorolla handheld devices), most of the routing on the handhelds seem easier because they can route their day on a map. But with the new iOS (iPhone 6) it seems like there isn't a map for them to work off of. Nor does it give them directions to another property. Other then that, I'd still recommend PestPac to small and large pest control companies.

Overall: I started working with PestPac via handheld only as a Pest Tech. Then I worked with it for 2 years as an administrative assistant. I transferred to a company that hired me as a Department Administrator. Dealing with PestPac at a management level and an employee level are 2 very separate things. Dealing with it as a technician I was only utilizing it's minor functions with limited access to what I can and cannot do. As an administrator, I have noticed I am utilizing it some of the reports every day. The reports could definitely use some work, but I understand it's a work in progress.

Recommendations to other buyers: Keep in mind what this software was designed for actual field work use. A lot of the reports could use a little more work to make it easier to find and organize some things, but I still prefer this software to say Salesforce when it comes to overall use. Recurring services: one time, yearly, biannually, monthly, bimonthly, alternate monthly, weekly, etc. Keep in mind that you're able to take payments through PestPac as well. Very useful to have for when you're swamped with calls to the office, you don't want to miss a payment, but the technician can easily take the payment over the handheld device. If this software could customize a report for instance to get multiple data in one report rather than have to run multiple reports for the same thing. For instance, I have to check accounts receivable to find out how much money is owed, but then I have to run another report to find out how much money was collected that day. It'd be nice to be able to combine these two reports.

Pros: "I've been using PestPac since 2004 and have experienced many many changes and upgrades. Marathon Data and Work Wave do an excellent job of keeping PestPac efficient in maintaining industry specific records and reporting with continuous upgrades and listening to the suggestions of their customers who have used the program long term."

Cons: I feel like at times I know the program better than the customer service agents but that has come from many years of experience with PestPac.

Recommendations to other buyers: I have not ever used another pest control software so I have no basis of comparison but PestPac has so far done everything that we need it to do for scheduling and maintaining records.

Pros: It's software allows you to file several city and state mandatory reports seamlessly. Track technician activity to the minute and submit reports to customers instantly via email. It has saved me time and energy and provides customers more control of their account that I could have given them prior to using it.

Cons: I wish the community portal had more answers to the questions that are posted. If they did, this would significantly reduce if not eliminate many calls that come through the customer support line.

Overall: Pestpac has been a great value to my company. I am able to access it from my desktop and mobile phone. With the Marathon Mobile app I no longer need to email each technician their route. They can view, update notes, and even upload photos and documents. Saving time and money.

Recommendations to other buyers: For new comers in the pest control world they may not be able to afford or even need the software if they are a 1 man show. Perhaps they can make a version just for people like that. Like a pestpac starter edition or something.

Pros: Their RouteOp feature is the answer to immediate increased bottom line growth for your business.

Cons: No CRM or marketing automation; leads and sales process needs additional development

Pros: It is super easy to use. It has a lot of features in house, as well as mobile functionality out in the field too.

Cons: Sometimes I have to leave a message for their support team when I have a question, but they always get back with me normally by the end of the day.

Overall: I've used several pest routing software systems, and Pest Pac is by far the best. I love the fact that all users can access the information, and the tutorials are extremely helpful. The fact that I can utilize the tutorials when I need them, on my schedule, is awesome. I recommend pest pac all the time.

Recommendations to other buyers: Obviously not all programs are meant for all businesses, but if you understand your business needs you'll be able to insure Pest Pac meets them.

Pros: Easy for techs in the field. Lots of help up front getting started.

Cons: All has been good. Supports after the initial start up period has been a little laxkibf.

Recommendations to other buyers: Software works best in conjunction with someone in the office delegating work, if everybody is in the field all day and only in the office in the evenings things are a bit more difficult. Entering new customers in the field is kinda difficult as you are not allowed to enter all info from the mobile app.

Pros: The product is easy to use. The vendor is willing to help set up and instruct you when problems occur.

Cons: It takes a lot of time to setup. It requires a lot of detail. However the details are of great benefit when the product is use.

Recommendations to other buyers: When evaluating this software, I would recommend that they start the evaluation right away. This software has long term benefits. So the faster the setup is done the faster the benefits. Also start using the software with one tech to see if you like it.

Pros: I like that you can grow as big as you want to with them. Although I have heard stories that they make you pay big dollars for your own customer list if you choose to go somewhere else.

Cons: The customer support is really bad. If you have questions that are not covered in the videos, good luck getting an answer. Also, unlimited customer support in the first month was actually about four 10 minute sessions that I had to schedule out days in advance.....not unlimited support.

Recommendations to other buyers: Expect it to be up and running after 2 or 3 months and a whole lot of money. Unless you have an in-house IT person, you don't need the sophistication. If you are a small company like me, it's not worth it.

Overall we are satisfied, though we are in the early stages.

Pros: I like the fact that it is so far reliable, very detailed, you can copy & paste, space for all needed info, mobile reliablitiy, friendly customer service.

Cons: Large learning curve that can be a little intimidating, and guides are more like a Appendix, rather than instructional.

Comments: I have been using PestPac since it was in DOS form (yes before Windows). I have been through all of the growing pains and have never been so disappointed. They are so confused with their own growth that nothing is stable (they even keep changing their name). Instead of focusing on one aspect and expanding that until it works, they have so many projects going that nothing works properly. I have to log into one website to do daily work. I have to log into another website to print invoices. I then have to log into yet another website to use a route mapping program and to access my employee timesheets. Pestpac's constant answer: "We know that is an issue and hassle and we are working on it." I am so tired of hearing that phrase. Although they have made customer service more accessible and everyone is friendly, if you can't make your program run properly then don't distribute it. I realize after new releases, that there will be glitches. However, I can't believe that I have to use 3 different websites just to do my daily work. I thought their community site would be beneficial for the consumer to let PestPac know what's wrong but if you look most of the known issues have "under consideration" or "in progress" for correction. Those "in progress" issues are mostly a year or more old. Create a program that works in its entirety and quit adding new things until you have the system running smoothly to begin with. By the way, as I have been looking into other companies, PestPac's costs and extra costs are extremely high compared to their competitor's. Time for a change.

Comments: My company is 80% multi family residential service. PestPac promised me we could go mobile with their multi unit module(costs extra). We input the customer and site information as was instructed to us by their multi unit on-boarding specialist. The system immediately started to time out and give error messages. When I called support, they told me I was entering too much info into the system and was going to have to enter less areas. I needed all the areas entered as it's required by our state regulatory agency. Support told me they were going to fix it. 12 months and $7,000 later, it's still not fixed.

For our single family routes, the mobile worked great. If we were only servicing single family homes PestPac would've worked perfectly for us.

We have cancelled PestPac.

I would never, ever recommend this software to anyone. Actually, maybe my competitors...

Comments: We have been using pestpac for 3 years and it hasn't changed since we started. Thats right, no meaningful updates, new technology, etc. It seems like this software code was written in the 80's when computers were pretty limited. Also, the programmers/people in charge have tried to make it so complex with multi-step processes for even small tasks. It is filled with redundancy and no intuitiveness. I think the code is so old and complicated that they can't bring themselves to trash it and build it from the ground up. I rue the day we signed an agreement with this company. Here are 3 things that pestpac will cause to happen to your business:

1. Lose money (Yes, the opposite of what good technology should do. You will lose money by hiring additional admin staff as well as very high software and add-on "module" costs.)
2. Spend hours and hours with multi-step tasks to do things that could be done with a few clicks with modern software.
3. Extreme frustration when thinking about how successful, lean and automated your company could be if pestpac provided a better technology solution.

In closing, our days with pestpac are coming to a close. We have put it off because of the time consuming process of making a switch. How sad, that's the only thing that makes companies stay with pestpac, handcuffs and the pain of switching. Marathon or "workwave" should be ashamed of their product in the modern marketplace.

Stay away from this software if you are a small business!!!!!!

Comments: My company has been a Pestpac customer since 2009. I got into this software due to it was versatile and paper free to manage all our accounts, at least this was what we were told in 2009 when there was just a few competitors for pest control software. The paperless option is not totally paperless unless you gave money to pay, besides 4 licenses $225/m we had to pay $149/m extra to have the multi unit module, everything they have is extra, classes, phone calls, support, etc.
Recently, we were at the 2015 Pest Expo in NYC and found that there was a company Fieldwork who offers basically everything they offer for less plus a few months free trial, yes free.
As of today, we are more than satisfied with Fielwork, our technicians love it and this software is straigh forward.
The juicy part is when you want to cancel Pestpac/Workwave. We always though we had a contract for the first 12months since we never heard from them, no emails, no calls. We recently contacted accounting and what a surprise is when they tell you that you are under contract after 7 years of service. The contract automatically renews, what? Yes in these days when in some states "automatic renewals" are illegal specially when there is no notification of renewal. Our surprise was when we spoke to Annamarie from accounting who told us that we had to know the date our contract expires and send a cancelation request 30 days in advance, otherwise, we had to pay for the remaining balance. Not only that, we told her how could we know when a 7 year contract automatically renews, the least thing I need from you is a notification, we were told that "we have thousands of clients and we do not send notifications, it would be an endless task" what? I wish they have the same filosophy when it comes to payments, they basically care about your monthly payment and your obbligation to stay tied to them forever.
We are so regreated of not knowing this company earlier and being so mistaken for all these years. Hopefully, you guys do not make the same mistake

Pros: First, a form of shorthand set up by the user in the wood-destroying organism report function facilitates writing repetitious findings and recommendations. Second, it is the industry (sub)standard and required by our franchisor, although neither speaks to our wretched experience with it. Third, there is the probably groundless hope that it can eventually be less counterproductive and perhaps even useful.

Cons: Endorsement by our parent company, and industry-wide use, promise more than Pestpac itself delivers. Pestpac is a cumbersome program (and needlessly so) that favors computer code writers more than users, is counter-intuitive to those who have used a product that works, and seems to have become the industry "standard" because the market settled too early for too little.

Recommendations to other buyers: Compare, then use virtually anything else, and direct to your business and health the valuable resources that would otherwise have been devoured by Pestpac.

Pros: I do not like this product...I have lost business due to its non-functioinality of the software numerous times over the 3 months that I have had it. The software has had issues every 1-2 weeks and it has taken more than a day to resolve which has resulted in lost business. The customer support staff has been helpful on occasion. The training staff is great.

Cons: Constant software problems and the downtime of not being able to operate your business with the product.

Comments: We have utilized this software since 2009. Overall we have been happy, until recently.

Tech Support USED to be awesome, but over the past few months it has been terrible. I have had open requests for support for more than 20 days at times. My emails to follow up on these issues, go unanswered. I spoke to a Support Supervisor, and was basically told that new clients were taking a lot of time away from Tech Support! I would encourage them to invest time into tech help for existing clients or they would be losing them!

Additionally, I haven't found the routing software to be great. I have been unable to utilize it in a manner that is efficient.

Overall I'm becoming very frustrated with this software and will be considering other options.

I am in customer service and I use pestpac all day long

Pros: The product pretty much has everything you need on the main screen, such as the customer history, open service orders, future service orders and also cancellations. The e-mail capability actually works for sending notices or reports. The customer service so far has been great. I also like the map location being right on the main screen when you bring up the address which is very helpful. There is a very quick response for any questions or help needed.

Cons: I am a fairly new customer to the program, but so far I am very pleased with their customer support, which I think is a very important factor, so therefore there is nothing negative I can say about the vendor. There is a lot of back end entry that you need to enter, but I find that I enter it as needed. For example county codes that need to populate, or chemicals tied into a particular service. Other than that I cannot really cannot find anything I don't like about the program.

Recommendations to other buyers: All I can say is when you are going to choose a program for your business, base it on other customers who have used the program. Also take into consideration their years in the industry. The program might not look fancy on your computer screen for today's standards, to me it is more important to have confidence in the product that you are using and that it does the job.

Pros: The customer service is great when you speak or communicate with any employee. I've never had an issue with anyone being rude or waste my time. They listen to the issue and try to solve it. The product itself gives you a lot of tools at your disposal, sometimes too many :)

Cons: What bothers me the most about the vendor could be extensive: 1. The time it takes to get in contact with someone that can actually solve your problem. 2. The staffing that you have for PestPac Mobile is horrible, I've come to the conclusion that you basically have one person (the programmer) that can actually solve the "real technical" issues, and when you're out in the field trying to work...and you have an issue...You don't have time to wait. It has cost our company a lot of money and a lot of wasted time. To the point where we have considered canceling our service with you. 3. Also, it appears that at one point in time you had free videos on how to use pestpac for general use. Now there are webinars and seminars that you need to pay for to learn...Really? Everything is attached with a dollar it seems. Or maybe I have not been directed to the appropriate site. 4. One of the biggest bothers it this... We are a small business and it seems as though when we write reviews or participate in the forums online, nothing is considered. You should really hone in on putting a value on your small customers, or you will lose them. That's currently where we stand.

Recommendations to other buyers: Make sure that you have a lot of time to learn and understand the program. Create accounts that you can "play" with but in the same tune, have someone at your company that knows the program well to fix any mistakes.

Cons: It is very user unfriendly, clunky and just impossible to use. By the time you have figured out even the least little task you have used up your tech support time and need to BUY more! Really!! This program is so hard to use they have a University for it! Oh, and you pay for that too. I own and operate several companies and PestPac is by far one one of my biggest mistakes I have made in business. We could not wait to get rid of them. Oh , don't forget their CONTRACT! Really, contracts today in the age of SaaS. Not gonna happen again

Recommendations to other buyers: Look else where. I found programs that were designed for the pest control industry that outperformed PestPac every aspect. The vendors even helped to customize it for us. Not to mention my team learned it in under a week and it has every feature you need as a pest control company. Pros: I like the reporting functions. I like the integration with collections and credit card processing. The mobile app is great, however expensive.

Cons: We have used pestpac for the last four years. First setting up the software was a nightmare. We had to spend weeks of our time to fill in so many back end options that most could have been set to defaults instead of making us build it all from scratch. Every time that a new feature came out we would think the feature looked awesome. Then after shelling out a ton of money for each individual feature we would be frustrated that it never worked as advertised and would in most cases make things more complicated than before. There are some good features within the software, but none of them are very user friendly. To date we have not been able to sufficiently train any employees to take advantage of the features that pestpac has to offer. Each time we have tried to train someone they get frustrated and can't remember all the steps it takes to complete even the simplest tasks. We recently found another software provider and were able to learn and use all its features within a week. Oh, and they don't charge for any additional features. Also beware of pestpac's contracts, they make things unclear and to keep their customers stuck into contracts for long periods of time.

Pros: I have been using Pestpac for nearly 15 years. I have suggested a few upgrades and have seen a few of those implemented over the years. However, for the most part, Pestpac is way ahead of the curve in implementation of new processes, many of which I have incorporated into my business.

Cons: My biggest difficulty over the years has been their phone hours. I am west coast so they close at 2pm my time and we have once in a while needed assistance after that time.

Recommendations to other buyers: Evaluating software often opens doors to unseen ideas and processes within the software.

Pros: PestPac has enabled our corporate office to have full visibility into each branch¿s daily operations. Now, with just a few clicks, information can be accessed for each branch, including customer information, detailed reports and much more. Additionally, the constant updates of the system keep it aligned with the way our industry, as a whole, is moving and growing. Great support and user community.

Cons: I can not think of anything that I like least about this product and vendor at this time.

Recommendations to other buyers: Generally, when it takes less time to do something, you don¿t have to spend as much time. You can use that time to do something else in growing your business if you¿re not shuffling paper as much.

Pros: The best thing I like about this software is its color schemes & that my contract is up and I can now cancel Don't use this product. Unless you're a computer genius. The desk top doesn't communicate with the app properly and the app doesn't communicate with the desk top. I had multiple reports of the same thing because of it. Then try and cancel those work orders...nope...communication error again and tech support had to delete them for me.

Cons: Tech support is semi helpful...when they call you back. Good luck getting a sales team on the phone. Once they sell you their service, its like they disappear. Been trying to cancel my service for a week and a half now and can't seem to get a hold of anyone. My office staff hates this program. After spending weeks yelling at them, I realized it wasn't their fault. The product just doesn't work correctly.

Recommendations to other buyers: Don't use this product. Specially if you're a start up or small business. The more money you spend on this software the more support you'll get. Small companies, good luck. Your just one account on top of the many that call in for support. Once they finish with the big guys, you might get a call back.

Pros: NOTHING - Pest Pac is very awkward program and difficult to use. Even with experience office staff and technicians - they hated it. If you buy this product get ready to work, you will spend countless hours setting up your company only to find out you wasted your time and money.

Cons: Try and cancel your subscription they will send you a threatening email reminding you of their auto renewal policy and your obligated to pay off your remain contract or be sent to collections. I forgot to mention this was after three years of using their system!

Marathon Data Systems has been an excellent partner in the past 10 year helping us to custom tailor the software to our business needs. They have always provided top notch support to ensure we can put forward the best experience to our staff and customers. I would highly recommend Marathon Data Systems and their PestPac or RoutePoint software to any service company to handle their daily operations.

Cons: Customizations of the software do take time and effort on the part of the customer.

Recommendations to other buyers: Make sure you have your data in order and ready to import prior to trying the product, as bad data tends to make testing difficult.

Pros: The best part of PestPac is that it works and it has made my job easer and more efficient. Going paperless, having all tech's using the handheld (cell phone), and being able to run everybody's routes once a month and then only a few adjustments during the month have saved me hundreds of hours a month. Plus, integrated credit card processing allows me to automatically post charges to customers' credit cards after approving the completed services for the day. Easy and fast.

Cons: I don't really have anything that I dislike. Some things could be a little better, but every time I say that it shows up in a future release. They are developing so fast and putting out quality.

Recommendations to other buyers: If you run outside service people, you need to take a close look at PestPac and make sure you pay close attention to RouteOps and the mobile app. It will save you hours every day, plus save money on things like gas and wear of your trucks.

Comments: This is not a program for a company wanting to go paperless. You can have invoices, statements and inspection reports customized but you are going to PAY $$$ for it. Then they want you to give your customers the inspection report as an invoice not the actual invoice. The only document you are allowed to customize for the mobile app is the inspection report and they told me that they are going to be stopping that too. If you have a customized invoice on the desktop side you cannot print the customized one from the app. If you do print the invoice from the mobile app you will not be able to view the same invoice again. The invoices that you can print from the desktop side are not the same as ones printed from the mobile app. If you have target pests on your service order the tech will not be able to edit or even see what those targets are on the mobile app. If you forget to time into the order on the app you are out of luck because you cannot customize the time in/time out. If you time out of an order you cannot reopen it to make changes or corrections. Their inspection reports, service orders and invoices do not meet our state regulations. I even showed the reports to several people at our state regulatory department and they agreed with me that it wasn't correct. I had them prepare a document to tell pestpac that it was incorrect and they made some changes won't do any more because they are too busy with everything else and are not making customizations anymore. There are a lot of complaints just like mine on pestpac's message boards for customers. So don't be fooled by all the other good comments, this program is not as great as it sounds.

PestPac was designed with the concept that someone in the office should be reviewing and posting invoices to ensure accuracy. The invoice/inspection report can then be automatically e-mailed the same day. The Report Writer Module (included for hosted customers) can be used to create custom forms. Users that prefer not to do this are welcome to request billable programmer time to create custom forms. We are more than happy to review and update any discrepancies with state-required forms. We do not charge programming time for this. Printing enhancements for the mobile app are on the road map for this year. Custom printing is a larger development project to take on, but it is on our radar. The latest app release has provided the ability to view target pests. Pros: I do admit that chat support has always seemed helpful. I think with how complicated the program is to use, it's necessary.

Cons: I purchased the software for a startup company. I own a very large service company in another industry and was very familar with service industry software. I wanted a product that was specific for pest control because of the use reporting of chemicals. I also needed a program that would handle auto payments by credit card and checks. Pestpac does both of these,but it is too awkward to use. Every step, from putting in a new customer to scheduling a service time, took too much effort. The program has a back end that is run by lookup tables. Every aspect of the software has to be programmed through these lookup tables before the software can be used. For example, let's say you want to put a chemical in the lookup table. First, you do the basics, like name, epa number, active ingredient. Then you need to define how you want to report the ready-to-use amount. The problem is that you first have to go to another lookup table and define that a gallon is indeed a gallon. And need to do this for everything. If you put out rodent bait, you need to define a block as a block before you can add this product to your lookup table. After I spent 10 hours watching videos on how to set up some lookup tables, I tried to put a customer in the system. I had a customer that had a one-time service for indoor fleas. I put the info in and went to print an invoice, and it was just random information on a piece of paper. No lines, no format; just random info. I called PestPac to find out how to print a formatted invoice and was told that I need to purchase forms from them to do it. So what you need to do is purchase all the forms you may need from marathon. These would include service tickets, invoices, contracts, and billing statements. Then depending on the form you need to print just load that form in the printer each time you would need to print one. Sounds easy right? Does this make sense to you? I did get a call from Marathon Data Systems about this issue, and there is a workaround. They have a module for printing on plain paper, but it costs extra.

Recommendations to other buyers: After canceling service with them and paying a hefty fee to do that, I found several other products that offer the same features as pest pac and one feature I found brilliant. My new service will text all customers automatically the day before service to remind them of the appointment. If they do not have a cell phone, the customer can receive an automated call reminding them of the service. Additionally, I found several other companies that had robust products that scheduled and automatically billed customers, many of which were less expensive and much easier to use.

Comments: I love, love, love Pestpac. Pestpac has been a HUGE part of my life for about the last 15 years when I started my first small company. I have since introduced the software into not only the company I sold my business to, but at least 5 others that I have been a part of. The folks at Marathon Data have great insight and intuition as to the needs of Pest management Professionals. It seems as though any time I have had a need they either have a solution, or have a solution in production. In the few instances they haven't had a solution, the staff has been very receptive to hearing concerns and adding solutions. If you are a Pest Management Company, small or large, there is no doubt, that Pestpac will streamline processes and increase profitability.

To be able to do that we needed a software provider, internet based, that would help us meet that goal. Since starting with PestPac our business has doubled in the past 8 years. Pros: We've been using Marathon's PestPac application since 1999. They're continuously enhancing the product and adding additional functionality. Their support department is awesome. 99% of the time, they resolve answer our question on the first call.

Cons: Nothing really. The software is a little more expensive than some other solutions, but we find PestPac is well worth the price.

Recommendations to other buyers: Some of the advance features and modules take a little bit of time to configure, but once you have them set up, they're awesome.

Comments: "In my 25 plus years in this industry I have used many different means of keeping up with the day to day issues of running a pest control business and the constant ever changing needs of office staff, technician routing, keeping track of sales and sales staff. from hand written route cards to computerized data collection systems.

All of the systems I used had good points however they were time consuming and ""clunky"" to deal with.

I have been using Pest Pac for quite a while now and since I have it feels as if a dam has broken loose we have able to get things streamlined quickly and almost effortlessly from the time the first point of customer contact begins to the completion of service. We absolutely love this software, and the customer service is beyond terrific we had a few issues when we started and they patiently walked us through all issues and followed up a couple of days later.

My only regret is not going with them sooner.

Comments: This program is so amazing and easy to use. It has improved our recording keeping and trending for numerous locations. Overall makes Techs already busy schedule easier to navigate and to keep records. The detailed stored records of deficiencies has got to be my favorite feature, Tech. can open ticket and immediately see what open conditions there are for that location. Illuminates messy hand written PMR's. Your Tech can never say "the PMR flew out the window" again. It would be foolish of any company not to use any of the service product Marathon has to offer. It keeps records on a data base, it can easily report DEC PRL reports, stored approved product lists, scheduling and much, much more.
