### "D&B Hoovers very good at collecting account information"

It is solving the problem of identifying who is actually worth talking to. Before we had nothing more than a hunch on which accounts to focus on first, or we would go by alphabetical order or whatever. With D&B Hoovers, we receive signals (who is visiting, researching, showing interest in our product) so we can avoid spending time on accounts that will never purchase. Additionally, it collects all of the data in one place allowing both sales and marketing teams to work off of the same list.

Pros

I really like the intent data as I can find out if there are other companies looking at my product prior to reaching out to them. This reduces a large amount of useless cold outreach. One click to enter all the account details (address, industry, revenue etc) and I have a better idea of how they operate than they have written on their website. I am able to go through accounts quicker than with any other program I have used for this purpose.

Cons

The set up was longer than I thought. It wasn't as simple as logging into an account and instantly receiving value. There is also some uncertainty in regards to the accuracy of intent. A small complaint, however, is that sometimes the interface requires you to click several times to get where you were trying to go. This is frustrating especially when you are already in a bad mood.

Horrible. Terrible company. Don't know how they are still in business!

Pros

Nothing. They are horrible. Wasted a lot of my time.

Cons

Their software is the worst I have ever used! Could not even log in. Customer support is awful, if you can through to them. Waited 40 minutes to have some clown email me mispelled nonsense that did not solve the problem!

I think primarily because I know the email addresses are real. Building lists isn't as painful and I don't have to manually verify all the contacts either and it's one of the few apps I don't dread opening and it works okay.

Pros

It saves me from spending an entire day (or days) looking for the correct email address through Google or LinkedIn. I use it to find actual decision makers rather than random email addresses that are likely to bounce and it essentially provides me with a list that I can actually work with rather than trying to guess and hope for the best. Less time spent doing unnecessary outreach; less time wasted going down the wrong path. That's it.

Cons

Sometimes companies are gone and like you're searching and it's completely empty which is frustrating when you're on a hot streak. The filtering can be very cluttered and the first filter I hit is usually the incorrect one. Also a petty thing but the free credits feels too small and you barely get to try out anything before it pushes you to buy.

### "It pulls phone numbers primarily, mainly"

It saves approximately a couple of hours each week and I suppose that’s a plus since my manager ceased breathing down my back regarding prospecting speed. Overall, the quality of the data is average, generally for the North American portion of the data however it seems to miss the smaller companies. All in all it generates income for me so I can afford to continue to pay my rent. I primarily only use the LinkedIn portion of the tool.

Pros

Thank goodness, the D&B Hoovers add on doesn’t crash my browser as it retrieves the information. It correctly identifies most of the direct dial numbers for me so I don’t have to dig around company websites to find them. I also like that I don’t have to manually enter all of this into Hubspot and the Hubspot sync works perfectly.

Cons

It uses its credits extremely quickly and I get really annoyed when I purchase a number only to discover it’s either an inactive number or some gentleman that retired three years ago. Why does it continue to charge me for unverified numbers? My biggest complaint with the system is that it is extremely case sensitive.

### "D&B Hoovers has been fine for finding some sales leads"

At least it has everything in one place and all of my leads and emails. So I do not need to go through six applications. I was able to narrow down leads by country and technology stack which worked out fine. At least it replaced our old CRM which was expensive and that was at least one less expense.

Pros

The D&B Hoovers database is large enough. That allows me to get email and telephone contact information without spending hours on Google (which is great). I can filter leads effectively to determine who is the V.P., most times.I was also impressed that it did not freeze when I just added fifty names to a lead list.

Cons

I hate that I spend 20% of my day on LinkedIn because all the phone numbers I find are desk phones from three years ago. They make a huge mess with the new version of their app, which was very easy to work with in the previous versions. Sometimes it will take forever to load and it is driving me crazy.

### "D&B Hoovers: corporate research standard"

I have used D&B Hoovers for at least 25 years! It used to the only game in town. Enter S&P Capital IQ; Mergent; Bloomberg and Lexis Directories. That makes me less dependent on D&B Hoovers! I use the products in tandem but sometimes I find that D&B Hoovers is less up-to-date than the others. Other times, it finds a global entity I could not find on the other platforms!

Pros

I like the global coverage and the fact that private and public companies are often included.

Cons

I do not like the "credits" and having to use them in order to download a family/corporate tree or other contact information. I also do not like the "incomplete information" tag which is confusing and also it does not print on the report! So it seems like fake information!

### "Happy to Have Such a Prospecting Tool"

Overall D&B Hoovers is better for my prospecting than LinkedIn Sales Navigator. The contacts seem more often refreshed, and it's easier to filter queries with D&B Hoovers.

Pros

I like the quality of your database and research. Other search engines don't compare when it comes to reaction time

Cons

Once in a while I will see the same contact working for two companies, but that simply means a transition period to me. It's not like everyone updates LinkedIn as soon as they switch jobs.

Good. I use it daily as part of my prospecting and hunting job responsibilities.

Pros

the snapshot of information that I can get for a portfolio of entities, and a list of affiliated entities

Cons

sometimes smaller businesses are not found/listed, which is understandable but if you had a way to see/find small business info that would be a bonus. Also, sometimes the industry/field is vague or not accurate. Classification for industries could use a revisit. A prospecting list with contacts would be a super bonus.

Family tree - view page - would be better not to have the left panel options taking up space to see the details of the family tree customers. Re: Survey: requesting minimum 40 characters when I can respond with less characters.

Overall our organization has had a great experience in using Hoovers. There's been several deals we were able to close because we found the right contact through this software. Would definitely recommend it to other companies if they can get it for the right price.

Pros

How easy it is to use and train others on using. The amount of contact info we capture through Hoovers that helps with sales team. The customer service team has always been helpful when needed as well.

Cons

That it doesn't integrate with our current CRM (quickbase). The price increases every year.

Reason for choosing D&B Hoovers

We honestly didn't look for any alternatives at the time we purchased this product. We used to just call the companies and ask for their emails, etc. or look on their websites.

Pros

I use D&B Hoovers the most for list building for prospects. The search tools is so easy to use and allows me to narrow down my search to the exact profile I am looking for.

Cons

Some of the contact information, I found, has been out of date.

Reason for choosing D&B Hoovers

I use D&B Hoovers to find email address contacts for companies that match out target customer profile. D&B Hoovers also offers company profile information including employee head count and annual revenue which helps me target which prospects have the best chance of benefiting from our product.

I use the software primarily for our international constituents, especially Asia. It ives me clarity on the size of the company that they work for or own, and gives me better insight to their position within thte company. Manager for example could be the CEO or middle management.

It can be difficult to confirm Asian companies due to the repetition in names

I can find single location entities that aren't generally integrated into our internal D&B database. I can also search an individual as well.

Cons

I wish I would be able to see parent companies of single locations that don't show up without having to rely on SP's CAPIQ.

Overall the user experience is positive. I find it easy to use and build target lists, which is a helpful feature for my use case. We have a defined market, we are not discovering new accounts, so our use was to explore our current TAM and uncover as much as possible, once completed, the tool didn't get used.

Pros

Lots of lists and browsing availability, great options to sort and find new contacts.

Cons

Limited exports of 1000 records, not great for niche markets, limited SIC codes for my industry.

Pros

The filtering tools allow the user to get very broad or very targetted data sets.

Cons

Confusing credits system. I never really know how many of the contact credits I have used. Would be great to have a simple outline inthe download screen to explain what will be used.

Overall I am very happy with the product and how our sales team is able to utilize for decision making. I am also able to build "hit lists" based on a companies industry, which is very helpful when doing selective targeted marketing.

Pros

It is a very useful sales tool for me and my sales staff. I am able to "pre-screen" customers financial status and annual revenue, helping to guide sales decisions on prospect customers.

Cons

It can be challenging to find certain companies and the search function can be better optimized to find similar results.

Not always available for some accounts. The NAICS code isn't always accurate - which is very important to me. I find myself double checking with other on-line sites to verify
