### "Powerful and Easy to Use"

December 28, 2025

4.0

I have been a FileZilla user for years now. The interface is simple and easy to use. I love the fact that I can open a specific path for each FTP site, which helps to streamline the process.

Pros

Filezilla is flexible and easy to use. Combined with tools like Task Scheduler and Power Automate, I have built a reliable process that uploads multiple inventory and sales files to manufacturers on a daily basis.

Cons

The one thing that would make FileZilla a 5-star product, is the ability to schedule FTP uploads, rather than having to rely on third party applications like Power Automate.

### "FileZilla Review"

December 21, 2021

5.0

This is a superb piece of software that I can highly recommend. I use FileZilla as part of my daily routine and I have very few usage issues.

Pros

FileZilla is a free software tool for moving different files to data hosting services. It is easy to install and comes with most of the features you will ever need for transferring files. FileZilla allows you to bookmark your FTP credentials making it easy to reconnect and manage mutiple connections. You can open a number of different FTP connections at the same time. This is great for anyone managing website hosting. The bookmarked FTP credentials can be exported and imported to other FileZilla installations or used as backups.

Cons

It is very difficult to fault this particular piece of software as it comes fully featured. However on occasions the FTP software can become bogged down with numerous file transfers. A simple restart of the software usually corrects this.

Alternatives considered

[Cyberduck](https://www.capterra.com/p/188500/Cyberduck/)

Reason for choosing FileZilla

FileZilla is a practical piece of FTP software and is more suitable for web professionals.

Pros

It is the only software i have been using in my 4 years of career to transfer files via ftp or sftp and it is not that hard to use.

### "A decent, if antiquated, FTP app"

November 22, 2022

3.0

Overall, we were not happy with using FileZilla and found ourselves constantly searching the Free FTP app space and trying other products on a regular basis. We tried CyberDuck, and others.. but ultimately landed on Transmit FTP and haven't looked back

Pros

FileZilla is a well known name in the FTP app space. It offers solid performance and it's free, with multiple versions for different operating systems.

Cons

The UI it very dated and the feature set is lacking when compared to paid rivals. You have to pay for the manual if you want all the docs! The pro version, which adds nearly as many connection methods as Transmit 5, costs $20 but lacks in most areas compared to full fledged pro FTP apps.

### "Previously I paid for professional FTP software"

January 21, 2022

5.0

We manage several servers and our customers have FTP access to a variety of protected areas across several servers to upload and download large video files. We're comfortable using Filezilla as well as recommending it to our customers.

Pros

Filezilla is very versatile and easy to use. FTP is an integral tool in my toolbox when transferring files and accessing items on our various servers. It has never failed me and is updated consistently to provide a great experience. It's built in error checking works great to ensure you're aware of any failures that you can easily retry.

Cons

The software update process could be improved for the Mac. Currently, you download the latest version and replace the prior version with the current version manually. It would be nice if the update was more automated.

### "Best FTP management software "

April 9, 2022

5.0

We manage our magazine server with FileZilla, more than 15 years, and there are no mistake. Our magazine is about industry automation, and we work a lot with IoT projects and devices,... connections and comunications, networks, ruters and switches, computer nods .. all of them we manage via FTP (wireless or Ethernet) with FileZilla.

Pros

First FileZilla was made in 2004, 18 years of excellence in FTP management jobs.... FileZilla is the best and the "only you have ever need" tool for management your site or server. Regardless you manage your website or do some IoT project with SBC, using Windows, Linux or iOS platform, you have to choose FileZilla as bet ever FTP tool.

Cons

Sometimes 18 years of existence carry some problems, one of them are old-stile interface. I understand that FileZilla is free, and look is not important for functionality, but sometimes we need something refreshing and modern....

Alternatives considered

[cPanel & WHM](https://www.capterra.com/p/165247/WHM/)

Reason for choosing FileZilla

FilleZilla is cross-platform and universal FTP management tool which is today standard. Some time we use FTP panel in cPanel, when we must access FTP server from online gate/browser, but... FileZilla is standalone application, secure and fast.

### "Fast, Reliable, and User-Friendly FTP Solution"

April 1, 2026

4.0

I’ve been using FileZilla for several years now, mainly to upload and manage files on different web servers. It’s a dependable and straightforward FTP client that makes transferring files quick and hassle-free. Setting up new connections is easy, and the interface offers a clear overview of local and remote file structures. FileZilla helps me work efficiently and ensures stable transfers, even with large files or slower connections. It’s definitely one of those essential tools that simply works whenever you need it.

Pros

FileZilla’s main strengths are its simplicity and reliability. The connection process is fast, and the transfer speed is excellent, which saves a lot of time during website maintenance or file backups. It supports drag‑and‑drop functionality, handles multiple simultaneous transfers, and offers great flexibility through saved connection profiles. Being open-source, it’s free to use and regularly updated, which builds confidence in its long-term dependability.

Cons

The interface looks somewhat old-fashioned compared to newer FTP solutions, and new users might need a few minutes to get used to the layout. Some functions, such as folder synchronization or advanced automation, could be more intuitive. Also, the installer occasionally includes optional third-party offers, so it’s worth paying attention during setup. Overall, however, FileZilla remains a strong, efficient, and highly trusted tool.

### "Sending Files From Point A To Point Be With Ease! "

October 21, 2025

5.0

To me, Filezilla has become a MUST for the amount of time I spend on the computer. Thanks to Filezilla being on both my computer and my phone, It makes it easy for me to remotely transfer files. I primarily use my cell phone for listening to music. I tend to download all my favorite songs off of YouTube and put it on my phone for listening on the go when I don't have Wifi. Before FileZilla, I needed to connect my phone to my computer via USB to send over the Music Files. But with Filezilla, I can now send it remotely!

Pros

Easy way to remotely transfer all of your files between computer directly to your device. Filezilla is a free to use program with the only thing needed to make it work is an internet connection. Which most everyone has these days. The user interface is simple and easy to understand. All you really need is the IP address of the device you're trying to connect to the computer. Once connected, search the files of said device, drag and drop files to suit your needs. The transfer sequence will the commence with blinding speeds!

Cons

One of the biggest cons I can say about Filezilla is, sometimes it can have issues connecting the two devices but even still, it works more than it doesn't work.

### "Good - Needs user friendly interface though"

December 12, 2025

5.0

Pros

It is simple, easy, and convenient, with sufficient features to connect to SFTP via port 22. I also realized that the portable version can be used instead of the file installer.

Cons

The interface is quite bland and could benefit from some improvements. In particular, during file transfers, it should be more user-friendly.

### "A free and powerful FTP client"

February 7, 2025

5.0

My overall experience with FileZilla is positive. I've been using it for many years mostly for syncing my local files to my servers. I'm a web developer so it's something that I do very often.

Pros

It has almost everything I need from a FTP client plus it's free to use. Also, I like that it's open source and it's reliable.

Cons

Something that I don't like about FileZilla is its user interface. It looks outdated. Also, I'd like to see some built-in features for directly connecting to some common cloud providers, like Google Drive for example.

### "Secure file transfer process and one of the best at it"

October 23, 2024

4.0

We used it for automation processes where we would export data from our platform, place it on the sftp and then pick it up and ingest it into another part of our platform. Our clients also utilized their sites to place data files for pickup by our platform.

Pros

We used it for so many different parts of the business. It was great to have a secure file transfer portal for all of our clients, plus we have access to all of our clients folders but they only had access to theirs

Cons

The UI was outdated, it seems like it was built in the early 2000's and very little updates have happened

### "Easy uploading interface"

November 22, 2023

4.0

FileZilla has been my go-to file uploading software for over ten years -- it's become my old-and-crotchety "I don't want to change" connection software. The site manager is easy to use, server data and logins are easy to store, and the GUI is easy to navigate. Dragging files from the windows File Explorer to the open server is especially helpful. The progress bars of each in-progress transfer are visible and clear, and you can change priorities of each upload easily enough. You can have multiple connections open in multiple tabs, and you even get the red carpet service of being asked if your new connection should replace the current tab, or form its own. Occasionally, it hiccups. The hiccups aren't always FileZilla's fault -- sometimes it tries to spam-connect by default when it can't get through the door. Other times the buttons seem to stop working entirely, forcing me to "turn it off and turn it back on again." Simple enough solve, though. Overall, highly recommended for those who want an easy, graphical way to connect to servers.

Pros

\-Easy to connect and upload files -Supports both SFTP and SSH -automatically detects changes in open files from the server and offers to re-upload them

Cons

\-Sometimes buttons stop working, requires closing and re-opening to fix

### "FileZilla for FTP file management"

October 13, 2022

5.0

We have been using FileZilla for probably over 15 years, it is the only FTP program we ever used as it is very simple to use even for beginners, it's easy to setup, very reliable and compatible with host servers and frequently updated by the developers. We never even considered any other app for FTP file management

Pros

It's easy to use, easy to setup, it's frequently updated with new features and security options and it's a free app

Cons

Doesn't have a lot of options, it is just a simple FTP program

### "FileZilla for FTP transfers"

May 13, 2024

5.0

I use Filezilla to trasfer data via ftp, and I can install it on Windows (client and server), Linux or Mac. Filezilla is easy to install and use, often updated for better security.

Pros

Filezilla helps me a lot whan I nees to transfer/download files via FTP (especially when I work on websites). The interface is simple and easy to understand: You have your local files and folders and next the remote resources. Just connect filling the fields with credendial. Then you will be able to upload/download your files and folders. In the lower section of the windows program, you will see the statistics (queued files, failed and successful transfers). Filezilla is free and it's a lightweight program, never hangs.

Cons

By default it sets to start at windows login, sometimes it's annoying.

### "Great File Transfer Program"

April 5, 2022

5.0

I have used FileZilla for both my job and personally for years. It makes transferring files smooth and painless. It was very easy to setup the FTP interface and simply drag the files into the remote folder and they upload quickly. I had to move my settings from one PC to another recently and it was super easy to export the settings from the first PC and import them into the second. This is great if you have multiple employees that need to access the same servers. Just set up once, export it, and use that to import into the other computers. If you need something beyond standard FTP there is also an inexpensive Pro version to get you set up with webDAV, Dropbox, Google Drive, and more.

Pros

Easy to use and set up. You can upload via the file structure of your local site or just drop and drag. Import/Export of FTP settings. Free and Pro applications available.

Cons

Software updates happening almost nightly, so you have to update it almost every time you open the program on your PC.

### "One of the best file transfer software"

May 8, 2022

4.0

Pros

I bought Filezilla Pro in 2017 and have only a few times since then needed to use other software. In the Pro version you have all the connection features to many cloud services that are very useful for those who do my job (Software engineer).

Cons

It would be very useful to have the ability to transfer files from one cloud connection to another automatically.

### "Best way to manage server files and website backend"

December 3, 2021

5.0

Pros

Filezilla makes it really easy to manage server files. I'm not someone who works in this area a lot so it's something that I find very complicated and difficult, but my experience with this software has been really good and doesn't require a lot of technical know how to get things connected and working. Also being able to use it for free is amazing!

Cons

My Filezilla seems to frequently require updates which, on mac, means reinstalling the software and removing the old software. I don't know if this is for security or something but it's really annoying to have to do it so frequently.

### "The ONLY FTP manager you'll ever need"

September 15, 2022

4.0

Pros

FileZilla has stood the test of time, it's free, and simple to use. Multiple FTP accounts can be added and accessed simultaneously. It's become the go-to FTP file manager for me and the teams we work with.

Cons

In all honesty, trying to find something negative about FileZilla is going to be challenging. It serves its purpose and does so effectively.

Reason for choosing FileZilla

FileZilla was recommended to me when I started with website work before the days of Wordpress and page builders. It still allows us to quickly deploy updated web files easily via the familiar user interface that is intricately linked to the file manager of the OS you are currently using.

### "Simple and Easy FTP / SFTP software"

June 4, 2022

4.0

I used this software to connect with multiple ftp and sftp servers and it helps me to upload/download files easily to server from local machine and I can easily rename or move files to different directly on servers and we can connect with multiple servers together and perform operations also.

Pros

1\. Allow us to easily edit file on FTP / SFTP Server. 2. Allow us to upload multiple files together. 3. Allow us to move files directly from one folder to another by simply drag and drop on server. 4. We can easily download and upload files from server or to server. 5. User experience is good and easy to use.

Cons

1\. We can not upload files to multiple folder together, you need to select each folder and upload. 2. I think uploading algo is sequential because it takes time to upload a small file also when you are uploading multiple files together.

Overall, Filezilla helps transferring files efficiently, so, is kind of my favorite software for uploading files on a Hosting Server.

Pros

It has a simple UI, which makes it way easy to use. I like how you can rename the file names on Server as well (helps in taking backup of file before uploading the updated one). And, it is an Open Source software.

Cons

For files having larger & deeper directory structure, it takes lot more time to upload (unless you are uploading an archived version of file).
