Pros

  • Webstorm is very easy to use, it has brilliant features that make coding easier and faster, and the ability to work faster through seamless code debugging. My favourite is the code with me feature.

  • This is very helpful I believe for all the students that are in the computer software industry because with no money we get the privilege of using this awesome tech.

  • The best thing I like about this software is that it has a great UI design and is good for web designing.

  • Excellent plugins, I believe today that it is the best web editor available on the market.

Cons

  • It is more difficult and appears scary than Visual Studio code. It only has a small selection of colour and file icon themes.

  • One small disadvantage of the program itself - is it can lag during indexing - which can be annoying. All in all, I still use it in my work and I strongly recommend it for every Dev or QA.

  • The worst thing about this software is that it is highly expensive.

  • From time to time it is difficult to connect the debugger to newly started Docker containers. It is difficult to connect each newly started container with the debugger.

"Best Javascript IDE for developers"

Pros: Webstorm is very easy to use, it has brilliant features that make coding easier and faster, and the ability to work faster through seamless code debugging. My favourite is the code with me feature.

Cons: There is no least favourite feature at the time of writing

"An IDE for optimal front-end development"

Overall: All in all, WebStrom is optimal for private use as well as for development in a team. In particular, however, it is suitable by the variety of offered templates just to set up a project and test. The versioning and code analysis supports the developer without patronizing and stopping the development process.

Pros: WebStorm is particularly convincing due to its modular structure and user-friendliness. WebStrom takes up the modularity of frontend development and implements it in an IDE that is oriented towards the development process. WebStorm convinces by the customizability through plugins, by the possibility of versioning for private projects but also for team projects as well as by a comprehensive selection of framework templates. WebStorm also facilitates the development of high-quality code through the code analysis in the background, which supports the code and project structure through author completion and intelligent commenting.

Cons: From time to time it is difficult to connect the debugger to newly started Docker containers. It is difficult to connect each newly started container with the debugger. It would be better if one debugger could be started per container.

Alternatives Considered: Microsoft Visual Studio and Notepad++
Reasons for Choosing WebStorm: Since InteliJ builds the products uniformly you are always on the safe side. While Notepad++ is outdated and Visual Studio Code looks more like a better Microsoft Word, WebStrom is on the right side for frontend development in the InteliJ universe.

"Webstorm Is Too Complex but Too Heavy"

Overall: The program's opening time is too long (I'm using SSD) and it use too much RAM, but don't forget it, it is an IDE. I switched to VS Code because it is lightweight and it can be really functional with extensions. I wasn't use the lots of functions of WebStorm and VS Code has all i needs so I switched. It is all about your needing and computer (If you don't have enogh RAM, WebStorm will become a nightmare).

Pros: - It is all completed Web Programming IDE. - It has lots of functions built-in. - Free for students.

Cons: - Too heavy. For example when I use it, it was freeze for per 4-5 line. (PS: My computer has 8gb RAM). - Too complex and a bit old-fashion UI. - It hasn't enough community plugins.

"Advanced web development tool"

Pros: WebStorm brings advanced features to the coding process, plugins integrations, different languages support, and most importantly an advanced UI.

Cons: The indexing feature may get laggy sometimes and you'll have to restart the application to fix it.

Switched From: Visual Studio Code
Reasons for Switching to WebStorm: Mostly Git integration and the software UI, WebStorm was way ahead in that part. Also, you rely on the terminal a lot while using Visual Code which I didn't find useful when some tasks can be done fast using just the interface in WebStorm.

"A software engineer's (fullstack) point of view on Webstorm."

Overall: I use WebStorm for frontend application development. Mostly in Angular and React.

Pros: WebStorm is in a class of its own. After downloading and installing it, you can start developing your application practically right away. You don't need to configure or install anything. Many plugins can be installed if needed. It is intuitive and complete.

Cons: The program is great but costs a bit. When running many projects it can be slow.

Switched From: IntelliJ IDEA
Reasons for Switching to WebStorm: I was using a similar program IntelliJ Idea but changed to WebStorm because WebStorm is lighter and more dedicated to the frontend.

"WebStorm: The best IDE ever."

Pros: 1) The IDE provides advanced HTML and CSS editing features, including syntax highlighting, code formatting, and live preview.2) Testing Tools Integration.3) WebStorm offers intelligent code completion, navigation, and analysis, helping developers write clean and efficient code.

Cons: 1) While WebStorm offers a free 30-day trial, it is a commercial product, and a license is required for continued use.

"The best choice when it comes to IDE's for front end development"

Overall: 10/10

Pros: The IDE is built in such an elegant way that when you develop you start worrying about the little things like auto imports, path resolution and auto complete. And everything comes out of the box too! No need to configure anything.

Cons: As for the features, I do not think I can add anything, I believe the team is doing awesome! The only thing is that it is paid, which stalled me to try it out, however since there is a free period, I did try it and I am still using Webstorm until this day. I cannot go back to another editor/IDE for front end development.

"The Smartest IDE For JS Developers"

Pros: WebStorm is a powerful IDE by JetBrains specialized in JavaScript and JavaScript framework development. It comes with a lot of developer tools, such as linters, formatters, debugging tools, terminal, and refactoring tools. It analyzes all of the project in the start, and finds all references, usages, and provides improvement suggestions and problems. It is an amazing tool for professional development.

Cons: As WebStorm analyzes all of the files and directories at the start, it needs some time to find references and index the entire project, which can lead to a long boot time. It is not a beginner friendly IDE, with lots of features spread out through the IDE. So, unless the developer has other JetBrains product experience, it will take some time to get used to. It is also a heavy application which takes up a lot of the computer's power and can cause crashes on older machines.

"IDE that I'm using daily"

Overall: This is the IDE that I used to develop angular projects. Earlier I have used two IDEs but with some of their limitations I was ended up with using webstorm.

Pros: Webstorm is a powerful IDE that supports multiple programming languages and frameworks. This gives features like code auto completion, debugging and version control tool integration. I love this as much as I love all other jetbrain products.

Cons: The only thing that I see as a concern is the price.

"I love this"

Overall: For me webstorm is is the best IDE available in Jetbrains package. I have been using this for more than six years and I love coding with it. This software is always updated to the current standards and I think that's why it remains as the leader in the market.

Pros: First of all, I love the interfaces and themes are very attractive. IDE supports some of the features like auto imports, availability of plenty of plugins, syntax error detection, easy repository integration, easy debugger and support multiple frameworks.

Cons: Webstorm is expensive when comparing with other IDEs in the market. Need to have at least 8GB RAM because it is using memory a lot.

"WebStorm is an extremely handy development tool for UI development"

Overall: More rapid development enables developers to create code rapidly and detect issues during the compilation process. It has support for Sonarqube and Prettify plugins to format the code. It features a plethora of plugins to boost your productivity. You must employ templates, clever auto-completion, and refactoring to assist system maintenance at scale.

Pros: It's great for Angular or React development, or indeed any javascript-based framework. Integration with code repositories and version control systems is excellent. It contains several shortcuts, an integrated debugger mode, and a variety of libraries for formatting code. It gives you a lot of advice and warns you about any faults you make while you write your code. It also enables us to validate the content of anything we send over FTP and take screenshots of remote servers.

Cons: It is more difficult and appears scary than Visual Studio code. It only has a small selection of colour and file icon themes. We can locate superior alternatives in low-cost markets and trade off a few characteristics. Its Windows version is nicely optimized, however, its Linux version did not meet my expectations.

"Why we need WebStorm"

Overall: Finding bugs in a codebase is certainly necessary for us, thus we can run tests directly for some specific list of files see the reports. In the built-in terminal you we can run some pre defined npm or yarn tasks, even set some environment variables from WebStorm runner configuration and then give it a spin for different kind of environments.

Pros: Rich set of frontend related tools are mostly included into the pre-bundled plugins, which you can disable if you don't need autocompletion etc. not to consume memory

Cons: Not so important though, it would be better to have some options to have some plugins to run application servers such as WebLogic, Tomcat etc. But not so necessary for frontend development since we can run similar stuff via command line

Reasons for Switching to WebStorm: Finding all the necessary tools, plugins in a configurable way without losing speed due to unnecessary stuff.

"Solution absolument merveilleuse pour le développement web"

"Best IDE on the market"

Overall: WebStorm is, in my opinion, the best JS and TS IDE in the market. It has everything I need and sometimes much more. Everyone I met and talk about that agreed with me. To tell the truth, I cannot express how I like that software. I was using it in my work and my private projects. However, because of the price, I was forced to change my private IDE to another one, as soon as my student license for WebStorm expired. It was quite hard to get used to a program with fewer functionalities. One small disadvantage of the program itself - is it can lag during indexing - which can be annoying. All in all, I still use it in my work and I strongly recommend it for every Dev or QA!

Pros: Powerful. Widely integrable. A huge load of built-in functions. Big plugin 'shop' with various plugins. Intuitive to use, with the possibility of complicated adjustments and changes - suited for the user.

Cons: For personal use - the price is prohibitive. Sometimes performance is not as smooth as it could be - especially while indexing.

"Is WebStorm a good IDE"

Overall: Overall WebStorm is a great IDE, one of the best out there. I was introduced to WebStorm when I started my first year in Faculty. I have been using it since then and writing code, fixing bugs, and making fully functional web pages has never been easier and faster for me. I truly recommend you try out this software, especially if you are a student in the software development area.

Pros: The thing I like about this software is that it gives the students including me a free license to use this IDE and all of the other products of JetBrains. This is very helpful I believe for all the students that are in the computer software industry because with no money we get the privilege of using this awesome tech. Now let me say something about the functionality of WebStorm. It is truly a remarkable piece of software starting with the fact that is very user-friendly. Then you have the best code correction options out there. Not only does it tell you where should you change your code because there is an error or something is off, but it gives you multiple solutions and corrections for you to implement effortlessly with just a click.

Cons: I don't think I can say something bad about this software except for the little hustle when you start your first project and opening projects, but there are a lot of tutorials in order to do that without any problems. Also for those who are not students, the price can be a little high for them when starting, but in my personal opinion, I think it is worth it to try out this software(there is a free trial period).

"Great IDE for full stack development for Javascript projects"

Overall: Overall it's been very positive. I have used webstorm for nearly 6 years now, never looked back and now I pay and use this product. It has really improved my development experience.

Pros: Graphical user interface is best part for me. Easy git integration makes it elegant to work with Webstorm. Easy to install extra plugins. Debugging using the console very comfortable. Terminal integration with webstorm is also nice, makes it easier for me to work with.

Cons: Documentation for all the features and more upgrades would be welcome. GUI can made more elegant. Also more innovative products can be made using GIT website.

"WebStorm è uno strumento fantastico"

Pros: Solitamente utilizzavo programmi gratuiti (di cui non faccio il nome) e appena ho aperto WebStorm ho notato una differenza pazzesca nella gestione di qualsiasi dettaglio. Tutto è più robusto e sono presenti infinite funzionalità già preinstallate. Inoltre, le varie funzionalità si interlacciano molto bene tra di loro.

Cons: Nessuna funzionalità in particolare mi ha lasciato insoddisfatto

Overall: Great experience and no problems so far. A lot of great frameworks are available for launching and meets all needs of a web developer.

Pros: The main pros are its speed and also the available frameworks that it has and its great debugging features.

"The BEST tool for JavaScript development, no contest."

Pros: The interface, ease of use, excellent plugins marketplace and integration with git, sonatqube and npm

Cons: Nothing except that the price maybe a little too steep if your organization doesn't have the budget.

Reasons for Switching to WebStorm: There is no comparison between them, VS Code is of course more popular since it's free to use. But WebStorm provides the familiar interface for anyone who codes Java or Android and has an extremely rich feature set
