### "Makes running my dog training business easy"

November 17, 2023

5.0

Great Customer Service and best option for dog trainers

Pros

Love the dog profiles, the ease of adding notes, scheduling, and adding dog birthdays!

Cons

Can't integrate with square invoicing, can't integrate course with thrivecart and my evergreen funnel so still am paying for a separate program for that.

Reason for choosing BusyPaws

I used to use pocketsuite and acuity (a combo of both) and even though paying for both was still slightly cheaper, the customer support and both suck.

### "Great client management and scheduling system"

September 13, 2025

5.0

We've been using for several years now - we started not long after they launched. It's been great to see the upgrades they have made and continue to make. They really listen to their customers and have an easy way to suggest changes and you can track where those changes are at. The customer service is really above and beyond.

Pros

The client management system is for sure the best part - being able to keep all records in one place has been really so helpful. It's much easier to keep up with vaccine records and invoicing.

Cons

Some of the schedule it still a little clunky but I know they are actively working on upgrades which is great! I'd like the app to be a little easer to use too but again I know they are always working on upgrades!

### "I'm happy and there's room for growth "

August 16, 2025

3.0

Overall, I’m happy with and have even recommended it to others to check out. There’s strong competition in this space, but I believe you have the opportunity to really stand out. My biggest ongoing concern is still the lack of human support, which would make a huge difference in user experience. I also had a few ideas that could add value: AI Phone Call Reminders – with pre-scripted options for efficiency. Pet Photo Album – allow clients to download photos for up to 30 days after a visit. Automated “How Was Your Stay?” Follow-up – built-in feedback collection (0–5 stars or emoji-based responses) that could generate useful reports. Payment Integrations – ability to link Cash App or Venmo for more client flexibility. Onboarding Packets – automatically send a welcome packet when a new client signs up or subscribes to BusyPaws as a user Built-in Hazardous Waste/Medical Tracking – for logging medications, injections, or special care. Medication Scheduling – calendar reminders for insulin, pills, or special treatments. Client Loyalty Rewards – points or credits for frequent visits, referrals, or add-ons. Built-in Marketing Tools – newsletters, promos, or seasonal specials (instead of separate Mailchimp fees). Dynamic Pricing Options – for peak holiday times vs. slow seasons. Referral Tracking – so you can reward clients who bring in friends. Emergency Evacuation Companion – digital roster with contact preferences and evacuation checklists if there’s fire, flood, etc. Emergency notification - click on message with instructions to anyone reaching out (We are currently sheltering in place for X storm. Contact X # for more information) Retention - retention reporting on how often dogs are coming back, between visits, and auto email "we miss you"

Pros

I transitioned from a manually managed system (Square) that fell short of my industry’s needs. As a one-person operation, this was a major leap forward in efficiency and organization and my biggest praise of . The low introduction rate and discount was 100% the winning factor compared to other programs -- as well as transparent pricing without having to talk to a rep. What I appreciate most is that customers now have their own portal where they can view and update their information directly. The ability for clients to self-book is by far the biggest benefit for my business. Everything related to a customer—whether it’s an invoice, payment method, or record—is saved within their profile, which means I no longer have to jump around the system to track down information. Now, getting my customers to properly use this portal is a challenge for some -- especially my older clients. Thanks to the reporting, I learned some interesting demographic data that I'd hadn't seen prior and that a good majority of my clients are retired. Meaning...tech, not always super friendly for them. I also like that clients can securely manage their credit cards for invoice payments, and I have the option to charge their card when needed. The system is straightforward and user-friendly, which is a big plus, and it’s easy to customize with my branding. Having different subscription options for users makes it even more flexible for a small business.

Cons

I originally started with the lowest-tier plan, which included no directed onboarding aside from some links (even 20 minutes talking to someone would have made a huge difference) and no access to a live person for support when something appeared to not be working properly were the most frustrating things for me. While the Q&A catalog is helpful, it’s not sufficient when something isn’t working as described. The lack of direct support was incredibly frustrating. If you’re a paying user, there should at least be a simple way to email operational issues and receive a timely response. That said, the only reason I chose initially was because the entry-level pricing made it accessible for small businesses like mine. I later upgraded my plan, but I believe eliminating this lower tier would be a mistake—it opens the door for small businesses to try the platform. Even though $80/m doesn’t seem like much, I went in with the mindset of “I’ll try it for 3–4 months and then decide.” That initial affordability matters for business owners testing a new system. To summarize, here are my primary issues and suggestions: 1. Invoices Once a payment has been made, invoices cannot be edited. Many of my clients add services right before pickup or something has to be edited afterward, and I want those charges consolidated into one invoice. Multiple invoices create more work, extra transaction fees, and even impact tipping. A solution could be an audit trail (e.g., “Invoice adjusted on X date by X user”) along with a notes section for system user and client to see. There’s no easy way to add late fees to an existing balance when there's been a payment made but not paid in full. I would like to see when a client has viewed the invoice. Deposits: if I require a deposit, I don’t want the client to be able to pay the full amount upfront. Clients often add services after booking, but if they’ve already paid in full, I’m forced to create a new invoice for small add-ons and end up chasing for payment. 2. Late Fees Automatic late fees should be available. It’s a necessary feature for managing payments. 3. Report Cards Custom fields should be taggable. Example being I use “G-” for grooming custom fields, making them easier to identify but this should be built in already with a tag. The ability to edit fields directly in the report, like in Forms/Contracts, would save time. I often encounter issues where the system selects the wrong or multiple pets during report creation (especially on mobile), even after re-clicking. Auto-generated reports would be helpful. After X service is completed, X report is sent. As would the ability to see when a client has viewed a report. 4. Calendar Blocking This has been the most challenging area for me. I’m closed Mondays and Tuesdays for drop-off/pick-up, daycare, and grooming, but I still have boarding dogs staying through those days. I need to prevent clients from selecting Monday/Tuesday for drop-off or pick-up, but despite trying schedules, HQ settings, kennel settings, and room settings, people still book those days, creating major confusion. 5. User App A client-facing app (similar to PetDesk) would make things much easier for customers who prefer mobile access. Some struggle with the portal, and an app would simplify the process. 6. Texting vs. Email Easier texting options are needed. Many clients unsubscribe from emails, which makes invoicing by email impossible. Maybe a unsubscribe from auto generated emails...but lets them still get invoices. 7. Mobile App Functionality The app can be cumbersome: it doesn’t click back easily, lags, and sometimes the buttons are too small. 8. Email Marketing Mailchimp integration should be included in the subscription, especially for users already paying separately for Mailchimp. 9. Data Export Exporting data is overly complicated. For example, I wanted a simple report showing pet name, vet name, and rabies status, but the system exports everything with no ability to refine or easily drop into Excel/Google Sheets. It would be much more efficient to schedule specific data pulls and have them emailed, or to predefine which data points I want. 10. Packages Packages should be integrated into the main booking portal. I’d like to offer standalone grooming or bundled packages, especially for medical washes. 11. Vaccination Verification I’d like the ability to block bookings from clients without a rabies vaccination on file. Rabies is required by law in every U.S. state, so it should be standard to verify before proceeding. Ideally, staff could mark “verified” once the record is checked. Until then, clients could remain on a waitlist. 12. Credits Credits on file should automatically apply to invoices when created by a system user (with the option to remove them). 13. The ability to adjust check in time back end system. I haven’t yet explored the Inventory or Courses tabs, but that will come in the future.

### "Integral piece of our business model"

February 23, 2026

5.0

Customer service is top notch and the product is excellent. Whenever we run into a problem (which is not often) someone is always on the other end willing to help!

Pros

is an integral part of our business. Being able to seamlessly book people into classes and handle payment with very little hands on effort after set up is an incredible feature.

Cons

I wish had an API so I could link data Bidirectionally — we use this software to its maximum capability and this is not likely to be an issue for most users.

### "Such a game changer!"

February 18, 2025

5.0

So awesome, I am so thrilled with it and would recommend to anyone.

Pros

Such efficient and friendly customer assistance, comprehensive options for my dog behaviour consulting business, group classes and private sessions, different locations, can message in the app, store customer info and notes, easily send out commonly used documents, have clients sign waivers and pay, all in this platform! I've tried lots of booking software and this is hands down the best for dog businesses. Just customizable enough that it's not a headache to set up, but offers all the options I need to run my business and systems the way I want. just generally makes my running my business so much easier! They are so responsive to adding new features when requested too!

Cons

Some small tech issues every now and again, but I'd expect this with any platform that offers so much, and they're so responsive to issues and helping you work through things. Takes a bit to get used to it, but so much better than every other option I've tried! A bit on the expensive side I suppose, but honestly for what I get I'm happy to pay it.

This is specific to the industry, but not quite as hard to set up as clicks was. I found the user interface much more intuitive, and just way easier to get set up with than clicks. Zoho didn't have enough of the features I needed specific to my industry. To clarify, I am not in pet grooming (kennel and pet grooming were the only options to select on this review for some reason) I am a dog trainer and behaviour consultant, and find the system to be so perfect!

### "Zero support for starter plan"

July 11, 2025

2.0

I have been using Busy Paws in my business for 10 months. I offer virtual and in person private training, a training membership, drop ins/dog walks, and over night sitting in the clients home. It's worked relatively well for these services for the $35 per month I pay. However, they recently did an update involving their intake forms & completely broke my intake process. The ONLY option for support is AI, & it's not even very advanced. They refuse to let me even tell them what my issue is.

Pros

The custom forms (until an update broke them), calendar sync, ability to create memberships, client profiles

Cons

NO support for the lowest tier plan ($35/month), they break parts of the product & refuse to tell me how to fix it, can't sync with multiple calendars, payments are slow, no option for overnight pet sitting in the clients home

### "Loving Busy Paws"

November 4, 2025

5.0

Overall, I am loving this experience. This is my first time running an online portal and my first ever brick and mortar store. has made it very easy to make the switch!

Pros

is very user friendly, it's a great value for the cost and it keeps all of our vaccination records organized. Payment processing is quick with daily payouts! Booking and sharing links for booking is super easy and efficient. My clients are loving the ability to access their pets portal and book hassle-free online

Cons

I find it a little annoying that when I am making my schedule I cannot see all of the new starting classes in once place. I like to stagger new classes start dates based on level and I often find myself looking at it thru the client view to see what classes are starting.

Pros

We love it and \[sensitive content hidden\] was tremendous not only on-boarding us which made switching to a new application more welcoming and less stressful but also so VERY quick to respond with any questions we had/have!!

Pros

### "Great System for Dog Trainers"

November 16, 2023

4.0

So far it’s been fantastic! I my took me 4 days, a few hours each day, to setup (I didn’t do the easy info transfer, just started fork the ground up to learn the system). It’s very easy to setup, with some small exceptions BUT also does great with explaining/having pages to explain how to create everything. I love it so much that I made the jump from PocketSuite! I looked and demo-ed other systems. BusyPaws is by far the most bang for my buck.

Pros

Ease of set up; lead tracking and ease of transitioning to official client status; ability to create video courses!!!! (Honestly my favorite part); digital contracts; ability to create my own report card template; SOOO many more great features!

Cons

It has no app. Would strongly prefer an app, or a more mobile friendly site. But the features totally make up for it!!

### "Makes running a dog training business much easier"

October 24, 2023

So far my overall experience with has been great. I looked into a couple other companies that run similar software and by far BusyPaws had the most straightforward set up and best features for the most reasonable price.

Pros

I signed up for the free trial with to see about switching to a scheduling system that was better suited for pet professionals. It's difficult to choose what I like most about it. Easy scheduling was my biggest concern, but the fact that clients can sign contracts easily on the website, upload vaccine records, and communicate with my trainer and I is fantastic.

Pros

I love that I have a centralized system to manage all my administrative needs. Helps keep my schedule and clients organized.

### "Wish I was happier with it!"

September 23, 2022

We were very disappointed that we could not get to work for us. We tried. \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] tried. The amount of time spent on: "...if we could make this do this..." or "...let's try using their series format for our puppy training ..." nope! how about this way or that way .... try this try that .... after working in BusyPaws, with it and \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] , it just was not a good fit . It seemed easy during the trial, so we signed up knowing we had full tech support. We paid the annual subscription of $900+ to find out 2 months in, it will not fit our needs. \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] will not refund unused subscriptions. Their team is patient and knows their own software program. We struggled to make it work. Then the glitches started. That was when I called it quits. Asked to cancel and get a refund for unused months. Our account was not cancelled back in July, and today (end of September) another email blast went out to our client list of "reminders of services in September and October" for appointments never made. I don't know why this is happening. These appointments were not made by us or our clients. Yet when \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] looked in to it, he sees that these were made on our end. But they were not. We have not used BP since June/July for anything. Somewhere this software has like a backdoor that is glitchy and making so much extra work on our end. For this reason, I cannot recommend it to other small businesses. But I wish I could because they are nice people, who work hard.

Pros

Integration with Google contacts is helpful to get client base moved over to . \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] did his very best to help us with glitches and trying to make it all work. You can save money by buying the annual subscription. But if things go wrong, you cannot get your money back if you decide to cancel your subscription - like we had to do. We just could not get this software program to work with our agendas. Too bad really, as it is a lovely Canadian company.

Cons

Could not easily have one account for a client with more than one dog. Could not easily book more than one service at a time for one client on one day . Unable to colour code anything. Could not choose our own time of day - must use their 15 minute increments from drop-down menu. We had email blasts go out unknowingly to our entire client base. We were told the glitch was something from "our end" (our fault) for multiple clients receiving the same "reminder" for appointments that were never booked, for months in advance! Maybe it was our error, but tech support to make it stop the first time would have helped the same glitch re-occurring THREE times! The second time this happened was so frustrating, our key staff member resigned - couldn't handle the stress of dozens of clients calling in the error in their account. BP Calendar can not keep up with our revolving schedule and multiple programs. Their "credits" for payment was very menacing.

Reason for choosing BusyPaws

It was Canadian.

### "Lots of features for a lower price"

March 22, 2023

5.0

It's pretty good! It's not as expensive and because of that I think it's great. They're constantly improving the product and I hope it becomes even better.

Pros

I love that I can have so many services and that I can search clients by their pet's names. It's easier for me to remember their dog! It's also way more affordable compared to competitors.

Cons

Some things are tedious like changing a blocked section in the calendar and I'm hoping their courses creation will become more robust. It's lacking in the ability to add in photos.

### "Ferghus & Company's BusyPaws Review"

October 21, 2022

5.0

Excellent! The product just keeps getting better and the support team continues to exceed expectations.

Pros

The customer support provided by the Team is THE BEST we have ever experienced. They are responsive, quick to troubleshoot and offer solutions and seem to always be working to improve the product.

Cons

The integration with Quickbooks was a challenge for us and created some administrative challenges. More flexibility with reporting features BUT, you can easily export data to spreadsheets and manipulate it that way.

Reason for choosing BusyPaws

\[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] did an amazing job of listening to what we needed and getting the product to meet those needs. They are also extremely patient with a fabulous business owner that has limited computer skills ;)

### "Amazing tool and easy to use"

January 14, 2024

4.0

I really like the time I save and the "all in one" concept.

Pros

Having the dog picture helps a lot. The "note" field too. The sync between google calendar and works fantastically. Clients can fill the forms themselves and have access to their portal which save time with emails exchanges.

Cons

Long process to create courses. Can not modify the title of the bookings in the calendar. The visual of the invoice is not similar to normal invoicing (payment not at the end of the calculation) (The invoice do not balance at zero on paper)

Reason for choosing BusyPaws

Seems more user friendly. Customer service was faster.

### "Easy Integration"

January 25, 2024

5.0

Pros

The software made it very easy to integrate with my website so that clients could continue to book even while I transitioned from a previous booking platform. I was able to utilize the free trial to experience how BusyPaws could potentially help my business grow. Near the end of the trial period I knew I needed to make the transition from my old platform to BusyPaws. Great features and great customer service!

Cons

I wish there was a mobile app specifically for the calendar feature as the mobile website is kind of crowded and clunky to use to see upcoming bookings. I also would like to have the option to send estimates through so that I wouldn't have to use another service.

### "User Friendly Program"

July 28, 2023

5.0

So far we did the free trial and all staff liked it.

Pros

The colors, all the features, customizing features as well and most important user friendly for staff and client

Cons

Not sure at this time as we only used the 14 day trial.

Reason for choosing BusyPaws

It can handle all the services we offer where the others cannot

### "Great tool for organizing and streamlining a dog training business!"

October 26, 2023

5.0

Overall very positive and happy to continue using the service!

Pros

has excellent customer service and a plethora of features that helped me cut down on third party apps to get what I needed done in an efficient manner.

Cons

There are some missing features I'd like to see in the future to aid a dog training business with a heavier online presence such as more complex course building tools and calendar syncing.

### "Great concept but not there"

October 26, 2023

3.0

Pros

Canadian, price point not bad, concept is greaf

Cons

Clunky for myself and clients to use features so ended up using other software choices.Doesn't integrate well with my business as a behaviour consultant (no option for adjusting billing for other areas, clients found it hard to use, no zoom integration). While price point is good, since it is not operational for me, will use a different company when renewal comes up
