We didn't have anyone in house who knew HTML or how to create customized emails that would work for our purpose. We found Beefree and were up and running within hours. That's a big deal when operating in a fast moving department. We didn't have time to identify and vet out a ton of providers for a simple task. Beefree let us jump right in so we didn't need to do that. Pros When our RPA team needed an inexpensive and a "learn it yourself" HTML email building tool in order to send alerts and bot run status updates, we turned to BeeFree. Packed with easy to use templates and a simple built it yourself option that we were up and running within a couple hours of purchase. It had all the options we'd ever need for our intended purpose and they're constantly adding new features and options all the time. The biggest thing for us was the fact that we could get access for an affordable price. Cons We struggled to get pictures added to our emails at first and this was a bit frustrating to figure out, but honestly, this was a very minor issue. The pricing has jumped and again the charges for images being hosted are pretty outlandish at this point. We are considering other editors because the fees have gotten so high. Pros The WYSIWYG interface is pretty great and is simple to use. Cons Being charged because you have content stored on the platform is super off putting. You already pay an arm and a leg to use the software so being charged for a picture that is loaded to the program and then used in an email and charged for clicks is pretty wild. We use it to compliment our ESP and other custom projects. Pros I love the easy-to-use, intuitive design options -- it's easy for anyone on our team to use and no knowledge of html or css is necessary. And the best part is that the html output is so clean it can easily be added to any other ESP without the usual errors and wonky output. I like the output options (html, full page pdf, etc.) and the option to test the emails. Cons I wish there was more support options (not only email support) and that the organization was set up a little differently to include sub folders for projects. Cons We do run across occasional bugs with the softward, but we've noticed they are resolved quite quickly. We do wish we could have column re-ordering, where we can click and drag or just re-order columns instead of having to manually switch over content blocks. BEE provides that, combined with ease of use and WYSIWYG design. Pros BEE is very easy to use. WSIWYG structure makes it simple even for newer users to get started, and it's fast and easy to produce great-looking emails. The interface has consistently improved over time, and it's a great deal -- especially for nonprofits, but also for anyone, particularly in comparison to other leading email tools. Exporting the email for use in other software is also an excellent advantage that is not always found elsewhere! Cons Inability to seamlessly transition to "divided" sections -- having to create a new "Row" just to put two pictures next to each other, etc. This is the only thing about Bee that is less convenient than Mailchimp. Inability to have a picture inside a text box that text wraps around. Without any HTML coding experience on our team, we resorted to basic designs and lackluster results. We discovered BEE Pro a few years ago and the email designer has allowed us to craft branded emails with striking images and CTA buttons. The designer itself is intuitive to use, and employs features that make designing future emails efficient. The exported code holds up very well within our CRM email delivery system and we haven't encountered any issues. Pros I use Bee multiple times every day Monday through Friday to make marketing emails for the art school that I work for as digital manager and it has become an invaluable tool for us, at this point. Bee integrates with Mailchimp seamlessly and the level of control and the number of options that Bee opened up for us after using just the Mailchimp email builder for years has changed the way we think about making emails entirely. It has really handy options and layouts that Mailchimp is missing. It is also priced very low, in my opinion, for the quality that you get. GREAT control over the mobile version of the emails that you are building. I cannot comment on customer service because I've never had to reach out to them for help. I've never had anything not work as it should. Cons There are ONLY two cons that I can think of for Bee and these may be something that a higher plan includes, I don't know. 1: Not an immense amount of font choices. (Still a decent selection but I would like to have more to play around with.) 2: Occasionally, an email I build in Bee will display differently in Mailchimp after it is exported. Very subtle, non-catastrophic differences like the text will be slightly wider and a word will drop to the next line when I don't intend for it. This is easily fixed by adjusting it in the Bee template though.
