Pros Stacks has many features comparable to other products which use the Kanban metaphor to organize information. However, the key feature for this user is that the database is self-hosted (can be either on a PC/Mac or cloud), which means one can have the information in a secure setting, with appropriate backups. Cons The integration with other apps, and availability of access via smartphones, is still something under development. Switched from [Trello](https://www.capterra.com/p/211559/Trello/) Originally, the primary reason was the insecurity of access to data that was stored externally on the vendor's servers. Due to some log-in issues, I lost access to all the planning and tracking data, which revealed the vulnerability of my process to such a disruption. Pros I really like Stacks' presentation of Kanban management, and the recent addition of Markdown support is icing on the cake! Cons The software is unfortunately written in Electron (bloated and slow, non-native application, no customisation of install location), and has some useless online features, like maps. Reasons for choosing Stacks Stacks is offline, not server-based, whereas the only alternatives available (WeKan, Kanboard) are server-based applications and difficult to use offline efficiently. It definitely helped with managing my assignments and projects in school. I could also see myself using it for my creative projects in the future. From day one the devs have also been very helpful and responsive. As this app is still in constant development, they take into account requests and have been releasing great updates. I look forward to the growth of this app. Pros The features that are crucial for my choosing an app are offline functionality, reasonable pricing and nice UI. All of which I found in Stacks. I was just looking for a simple kanban app that fit the above checklist and Stacks gave that and more. More included other ways to view all tasks. My most used views are list, table and calendar which reminded me of Notion's. The dashboard also gives the numbers on how many things I'm supposed to do, have done or are overdue. As a student with a ton of requirements, all this has been helpful for me.
