Pros Birdview (Avian Perspective as we affectionately call it) is fairly easy to use and is improving constantly. My favorite part of Birdview is the extensive learning suite that comes with it. If you need guidance, there are webinars and help sections, further supported by live Chat support. Most actions are easy to understand and follow. It is scalable and flexible adding to it's useability. There's many additional modules, we even use it for some of our Dev requests (forms in BV). Cons There is some frustration with the way Activity Est. Hours roll up to a Project total. Not sure if this is a setting issue on our end or just the way it's meant to be. We often set a total # of Est. Hours then break down the activities. It tends to Add any Activity hours to the Est total, instead of considering it part of that total. Again, this may be a setting our BV Admin may need to look at. Allows me to keep track of my work more easily. There a few feature that I haven't used yet such as time tracking or the agenda but once I'm more comfortable I plan on using them. Pros The information is centralized and there different views option. We also have the a more concrete view of the time line for project and the steps in each projects. It runs smoothly and it's easy to re-access without having to enter your un/pw every time. Cons I can't look at several "space" without opening a new window/tab and log in to Birdview. No enough customization in regards to the view (i.e. the detail window is too small, etc.) or the click (i.e. right click to show options, double click to show details, etc.). The processes and workflows are easy to build, simple to maintain, and allow for easy scalability. Birdview offers just about everything a mature PMO would need without functionality that will likely never be needed, but other tools charge for. It really is the sweet spot of PPM tools. Pros The interface is very intuitive, and the tool has a very quick learning curve. It is very scalable and easily customized. The Table, Gantt, and Kanban Board views are great. Creating dependencies is super easy and overall administration is simple. Cons Dashboards would benefit from more visualizations. There are a few things that I wish would be improved upon but overall, I can navigate to where I need to be somewhat quickly. Pros I enjoy the option to view my assignments through either Resources - a weekly overview or as a list. I generally prefer Resources so I can see my week ahead. I also like that people can comment on tasks to provide updates or changes. It also organizes all of the tasks for a project fairly well with parent tasks and sub-tasks as structure. Cons I find navigating to the parent project of a task to be difficult - I have to right click and open in a new tab, then find my task/assignment. It would be ideal if you could easily get to the page with all tasks in a project from one of the tasks in your assignment/resources view. I would also like to see a feature where if a dependency is overdue, that is notifies the people on the next task to save them having to go back through and check. The company has tried to improve its customizability over the years, although fortunately they don't redesign the whole darn thing every time there's an update. It's be nice if we could change the colors, but that's not a big deal. Pros Birdview is one of the tabs that automatically opens whenever my browser loads because I'm in it all day long. I'd say it is fairly straightforward to use, but since most people who use it do the same steps repeatedly, you're going to learn your way around your part of it fairly quickly. I like that you can add messages to either the whole project or just a task. You can also create templates for the things you do over and over again, including ones with steps that are automatically assigned after the previous step is finished. There's also multiple ways to view your assigned tasks. Cons There really aren't any daily frustrations, which is nice. :) I would add that I don't think I use it to its full potential - it's sort of like a big rambling building where you only know your section of it. January 28, 2025 4.0 My only other previous experience with a project management platform has been Workamajig, and I prefer BV to that, but do sometimes feel overwhelmed between checking my assignments and notifications (I fall behind checking my notifications), but that may be due to being oversaturated with work. Pros #1. I like the ability to see all of the project steps instead of only seeing the steps that I am assigned to. #2. I like that I am able to check mine and everyone else's utilization percentage. Offers total visibility in the organization. Cons #1. I think the user navigation experience could be improved. I find I have to right-click on a project name and open it in a new tab to be able to see all of the project steps and main overview. I wish this process was more simple and did not require me to open a new tab. #2. This may be user-error, but I have had project managers reach out to me and ask if I can complete a project task by EOD, and I will tell them I do not have that task in my Assignments view (in either the Today or Later categories). They claim they are there and that I have so many tasks that it may not be populating? If it is a BV issue, its a pretty big oversight as I need to be able to see tasks due in the Today column, regardless of how many are in there. #3. I have had issues inputting time in the Time Log screen. I will enter the time and enter my comments and in my experience, there is a 10% probability that the time will not appear unless I refresh the window. #4. The people within my agency are not the best with file management, so as an employee departs, you can sometimes find links in the comments of tasks and projects and locate the files, but I would love if there was a field to enter a file location url before marking a task as complete. I was able to navigate to where I needed to go even though there was a space of time between training and use. Cons No complaints, it is a very useful product and easy to use platform.
