Pros I started to hear about MEGA about a year ago, and I found it super easy to use. It has an enormous storage and I enjoy how fast the sharing process is and the management of the file is so easy. I think it's a software that even if it was to pay for it would be worth it. Cons I have not much to complain about because it has always done the job. Maybe some times it doesn't let me upload easily but it always works. Review Source JG Joseph G. Owner Arts and Crafts Used the software for: 2+ years ### "It is good to have Mega Storage. Even if it is a company out of the country" May 19, 2025 4.0 It has been a good experience, I think i store some stuff on Google drive and the other stuff I save on mega. I think i have really gotten used to both products Pros It has been around for a long time. I think it is one of the better cloud storage alternatives. I almost gave it five stars. Cons It is not very easy to reset the pass word. I think I have not figured out alternatives to a password system, I think it would be good if it had finger print reading ability Switched from [Google Drive](https://www.capterra.com/p/161425/Drive/) I use both products now. I am happy with that change. Review Source LH Lady H. Pros The experience was unilaterally awful and there was nothing to like, the app doesn’t work and the support department doesn’t care. Cons They scammed me - I signed up for 1 month and they charged me for 1 year. Their support department refused to correct the issue. I signed up to download videos from someone who stores on Mega - when I try to download I get the error “insufficient disk space” even though the video is only 1GB and I have 15GB free on my iPad and 3TB free in Mega. So I was fraudulently charged over $100 and still can’t download the videos. Switched from [Google Drive](https://www.capterra.com/p/161425/Drive/) I falsely believed Mega would work but it did not and I regret my choice to use Mega. Review Source Mohammad M. I don't think I'll be changing to a different cloud alternative anytime soon since I don't wish to lose my work contacts list & organized data folders. Plus, it's an awesome backup tool that I can retrieve whatever data I've stored on my phone or computers at any given time. Pros Blazing-fast data transfer rates, secure backup, reliable collaboration tools & compatibility with various file formats are some of the core features I use almost daily to accomplish work with high efficiency & efficacy. Cons I have no complaints whatsoever with the service. It's just great. Alternatives considered [Dropbox](https://www.capterra.com/p/143068/Dropbox-Business/)[OneDrive](https://www.capterra.com/p/161304/OneDrive/) Reason for choosing MEGA In terms of price-to-features, MEGA made the most sense to pick over other alternatives. Switched from [Box](https://www.capterra.com/p/148766/Box/) Messy user interface & confusing backup options are the primary reason to make the switch. Review Source Nasir A. We use it for file sharing between agency and client. It is so convenient for technical people at the agency and the laymen at the client-side. Apart from the bandwidth thing, it is so simple and easy to use, and highly reccomended. Pros The best thing about Mega is its File Manager. The File Manager or the UI is so simple and easy to use. There is Drag and Drop Functionality which is very helpful. Unlike other cloud storage, its interface is just like our operating systems where file management is so easy and simple. Even a layman can use it easily. 2nd thing is its free space, as it provides 20GB to 50GB free space for new users. Cons The least likable thing about Mega is its bandwidth limitation. As you can not download and upload unlimited data on the Mega free version, even on paid version there is a data upload and download limit. On the comparator Cloud and File sharing, there is almost no bandwidth. Alternatives considered [Google Drive](https://www.capterra.com/p/161425/Drive/) Reason for choosing MEGA Mega was offering more space in its free version. So for a test run, it was more convienient. May 22, 2026 3.0 If I have very little concern for storage this is a good option to go with. But I am sure how secured they are in terms of cloud security. Pros The interface is easy to use for me. I have app and website and I can easily sync in between them. Good thing is that the security is very tight and they give recovery text too in case I lose my password. Cons The customer support is not that good, they hardly can give any solution which is not documented on the website page. Also, pricing is not great compared to other vendors. Switched from [Cloudberry Drive](https://www.capterra.com/p/10021271/Cloudberry-Drive/)[IDrive](https://www.capterra.com/p/171884/IDrive/) Pricing was not that great if I think of add-on services and customer support. Pros Well the servers are powerful and smooth ,the UI and connectivity is legit and straightforward also I could use Cryptocurrency for buying subscription Which I personally love that so much . The files and folders are well categorized the way I could find all of my files in the shortest time .The availability of the app on both windows and Phone make me relax . Cons I didn't like the customer support . I had some problem for the payment it took me couple of days to hear from them .nothing serious about Mega I like using it . Switched from [OneDrive](https://www.capterra.com/p/161304/OneDrive/) One drive has been my number 1 cloud source for a pretty long time I usually use it form y pdfs and photos but when It comes to big files I definitely prefer Mega . It's also quite affordable. I greatly appreciate the fact that i could do my payment in my local currency Cons Not much to say. Maybe they could increase the amount of GB one can download using the free option Switched from [Google Drive](https://www.capterra.com/p/161425/Drive/) simply because someone shared a folder which was found in MEGA so I had to download the software Review Source Said S. It is for people who store a large number of files, mainly multimedia Pros I must admit that MEGA's storage modalities are exorbitant, it is a lot of storage and software that allows you to upload or download files very quickly. The organization as a search engine or file finder is what attracted me the most since it is the easiest to use of all the online storages that I have tested. And the ZIP storage compatible features saved me a lot on my SSD Cons The price was what made me disinterested since the options they offer are too good, but they were too much for me and those who collaborated with me, in addition to sometimes not understanding how privacy worked. Switched from [MediaFire](https://www.capterra.com/p/215111/MediaFire/) I thought that a payment option would be great for me, since it could have certain values added to the product Review Source WL Whitney L. Cons I least like the fact that if you want to store larger files you do have to eventually pay for that storage and also after so many days of non use your account will be wiped clear of files stored so it requires consistent usage. Even we also use to prefer mega for chat purposes too. Do you know why? Because mega has a cloud messaging system and my family messages are not going to disappear anytime. I can always read the chat of my family and friends anytime I want and can enjoy the moments when I received that message. Now if you are also thinking of start using the Mega, Then definitely I will recommend you with a 10/10 rating and I assure you that mega will never disappoint you. Pros I have liked to encryption system of mega too much. There is always an option of generating the password key separately as well as combine with a link. I'm using the mega for cloud purposes. And I'm saving my family's memories on the mega server. I have stored a lot of pictures and videos related to friends and family. There are also a lot of documents that I have stored on the mega server and I have not afraid of getting into any problem. I can manage folders and files inside mega. I have liked the folder system of mega too much and the basic plan is also an amazing service at all. I was unaware of Mega and then I start using the Mega with the basic plan. After that, I realized I may lose data from my system so I should store it in a safe place. Then I came to the Mega for a safe and trusted place. There is always an option of sharing files any time I want without my hesitation. The chat system of Mega always remains my favorite at all. I can share uploaded photos, videos, and documents with my family through the Mega chat system. I'm using the Mega android application for chat purposes and for sharing files with my family and friends. But for uploading and manage folders I use to prefer the Mega site. I found both methods reliable and safe. Cons Of course Mega is my favorite at all and there is nothing that needs to be complained about or needs to be improved. Mega has changed my life very smartly and now I am using the mega on a daily basis. Memories are the perfect way to change your mode when you feel alone. And I use to store my memories on a mega server. I have my engagement pictures and videos on the mega server. And I use to enjoy them, whenever I use to go away from my home. I started using the mega from the basic plan and now I'm using a paid package plan. And I found the pricing section very affordable. Now if anybody will ask me, where you will be storing your personal data for the next 10 years? Then definitely my response will be the Mega sever. I have used a lot of cloud services but I found it mega different at all. And I'm going to use this for a lifetime. Review Source FM Felipe M. Pros Mega is a great option for a low-cost cloud storage. I've been using Mega for over 5 years now and it has been a reliable and easy-to-use service. One of the things I like most about Mega is the amount of storage space available for free accounts. Plus, the pricing for paid plans is very reasonable. Cons The synchronization and file transfer process can sometimes take longer than expected, especially when dealing with larger files or when there is a slow internet connection Review Source Shahirah L. They have a free account that has decent amount of free storage that user can use it freely. Cons Downloading the files from the web browser version of the software is not effective at all. I need to stay on the MEGA webpage on the download process, and if i change to the other tab, the download process will be halt and worst, i had to start the download process from the beginning. I've been harassed twice in a two weeks period that they will delete my account for inactivity. How dare they! I bought the account when it was on a life time desk - 10 TB of storage. And they dare say they will delete my paid account due to inactivity. To appease them, I logged into the account last week to show activity, but they still sent the email again threatening to delete my account. They even suggested I upgrade to a pro account where I paid monthly when I was fortunate enough to get their lifetime deal. These are bait and switch tactics, pure and simple and they can't be trusted. March 28, 2022 5.0 Overall, the experience with MEGA has been great so far with just a little spanner that they don't have smaller plans to cater to an individual's requirements who doesn't need 400GB of space. Also, the transfer caps is something that only MEGA has and no other vendor is having that. Pros Ease of UI and really simple UI and UX besides getting a 50GB free space. Cons Pricing - that's a pain point. Google One is offering 200GB worth of space at just about USD28 per year whereas the minimum Mega plan is with 400GB of space at USD68 per year. Review Source VR Verified Reviewer Network Engineer Computer Networking Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Mega " October 4, 2022 4.0 Pros The program is well known, and the most important thing that I liked is the flexibility of transferring files to and from the cloud, so that when there is an interruption in the Internet service, the transfer of files can be completed from the point it reached automatically without having to repeat the whole process again. Cons In general, I had no problems using the program, but I hope the user interface will be improved. Review Source Elisabeth V. Obviously they care about the people and give cloud storage while being reasonable rates. Pros I loved the amount of storage you used to have. I love the ease of sharing things via links with my friends, or the way to access my materials online. Cons Well, the system used to be 50gb storage. Now they've lowered it to 20gb which is a bit better then the 15gb that google gives, and the 5gb that others have. Regardless it just used to be more.
