We have been using RotaCentral at our community cinema since we opened, nearly five years ago, and are very satisfied with the service. Additionally, I really appreciated the support and advice on offer.

Pros

We really appreciate the service we get from RotaCentral. It is easy for our volunteers to sign up and use and, as a not-for profit organisation we find it is excellent value for money. We also find the access to data and statistics very useful.

Cons

It would be very useful if we could adapt the email messaging as we cannot upload our own template messages with logo etc onto the email out.

Pros

It is extremely simple to run once the setup is complete and has a number of different modes allowing different types of rotas to be run from the same platform. The support is rapid and helpful and issues are dealt with quickly. The interface is well laid out for admin users and the software provides a strong user experience for non-admins.

Cons

I can't turn off the functionality that automatically resets some views back to the top of page after changes have been processed.

After a lot of searching and testing applications, RotaCentral has nailed it. Volunteer shift management is so easy with RotaCentral. Not only can we make it work for us, but we have options of how it will work. Whether volunteers choose their own shifts, or we use auto allocation with fairness - it keeps it under control.

Pros

The auto allocation and fairness ensures we do not favour any groups of volunteers including myself.

Cons

Some users still try to reply to notification emails, which is a no-reply address. But having said that, the team at RotaCentral are pretty good at working it out and sending them onto me.

It was an easy straightforward process from onboarding and very helpful, going as far to give us a video tutorial so we knew exactly how to work the system. Also having check-ins in case there were issues a few months in. It has been really good for Jersey Arts Centre to upgrade to this system, also giving the volunteers a chance to look at home in their own time and sign up to shifts.

Pros

A clear layout for us to read and see visually who is on what shift. The options for vols to cancel a shift three days in adv, giving us time to find someone new. A user friendly system that everyone can log on from home and use successfully (as a whole.)

Cons

It would be helpful if there were notifications on Rota Central, for when new applications join (I know we receive an email) to have it on the site would help as emails can be missed. If we cancel a shift or details on it change, it would be helpful/ideal if the vols are notified, at present they are not.

A great straight forward app that provided what we needed at a great price. Saves us a great deal of time in ensuring we have the right resources for the events we organise

Pros

Rota Central is a very straight forward simple application that allows our volunteers to put their names down for events to help our not for profit theatre. It is straight forward to use and also provide helpful statistics to track activity and manage our volunteer network.

Cons

The formatting of emails is basic and occasionally people miss the green confirm button because it is in the bottom right corner so they think they have volunteered when they haven't.

The interface is user-friendly, making it easy to create, view, and update rotas without needing extensive training. For teams that simply need a reliable way to manage schedules, it works well and keeps things efficient.

Pros

RotaCentral is straightforward and easy to use, which is exactly what’s needed for rota management. It doesn’t try to be overly complex or overloaded with features.

Cons

It would be really useful to have two super users. A lot of managers are part time where I work and it would help to have the back up when they are on leave, or it is a non-working day.

The guidance from \[sensitive content hidden\] from initial contact, through the trial period to the live launch and beyond has been excellent. She is very responsive and informative whilst listening to our specific needs and not trying to squeeze us into a standard mould. \[sensitive content hidden\] made the learning I needed to do as the Volunteer Coordinator straightforward and manageable and I was able to manage this in a shorter time than anticipated as the software is also intuitive and clear. In short, we're delighted to find a system we can implement easily, that is affordable and does what we want it to do really well!

Pros

We were looking for a low cost software solution for our busy volunteer led cafe and bookstall. This includes being able to rota 80 volunteers, into 7 different roles, over 5 days a week, with the flexibility to add special events onto this regular rota. We didn't want anything too complex for our volunteers to grapple with, so no app to download or username or passwords to remember was a plus. Rota Central fitted the bill in spades. Being able to use Rota Central on my phone makes my coordinator role a lot easier. Similarly shifts are now more visible to volunteers whenever they want to check them, giving them a better volunteering experience. I'm looking forward to being able to use it to present clear helpful data about the impact that volunteers have on our charity to trustees and grant bodies.

Cons

The printed rota to display in the cafe from week to week isn't quite a user friendly as our previous Excel version.

It is very user friendly and easy to navigate. When taking on the voluntary role I said only if it is user friendly 👍🏽 and I could manage from anywhere 👍🏽

Pros

Organising volunteers for our theatre shows is so easy using Rotacentral, how did we manage before? With many functions you did not know you needed makes life so easy. Can log on from anywhere to keep the show on the road. Any thing you are not sure about can be resolved in an online chat with a step through guide if needed. Well worth the money

Cons

Once you know how to navigate around then is it very easy to use. You cannot go wrong, simple as that. Not come across anything I would change or wish to be added.

The system was easy to set up, easy to use, and the customer support is excellent (provided by Ilana).

Pros

The system is simple to set up and use. The volunteers on our rota seem to find it easy to use too. Its great having automated emails that can be sent out (that are able to be edited). It is saving the person who used to compile the rota so much time & because its easy to cancel and change shifts it can all be done by the individuals. The reports you can run are really useful, to see how many shifts each individual has done. Excellent service and timely response to my queries. I would highly recommend the rotacentral system to any voluntary organisation.

Cons

Can't think of anything, as it's honesty been excellent, I ,guess if I would change one thing, it would be to make the colour of the shifts different colours (so that I can tell the different between a Tuesday & a Friday (which is the two days we cover in our local library with volunteers).

It's taken away lots of boring work compiling rotas. We get very few no-shows from our volunteer team now.

Pros

I like the ease of use it's brought to our volunteer management, it's easy for our volunteers to access. Customer support is really helpful too, whenever we've had any minor issues it's been sorted very quickly.

Cons

Nothing springs to mind. I think using rota central has been easy from sign up and I can't imagine life without it.

Since the get-go, the experience has been extremely positive and straightforward: our volunteers find the system very flexible, and it meets the flexibility they need. From my perspective, introducing Rotacentral was a game-changer: not only it save a huge amount of my time, considering we manage 100 volunteers, but it also helped me and my team having a grip on our volunteers' attendance, understanding their needs and how they navigate their volunteering experience with us.

Pros

It is an extremely easy-to-use tool for both ur volunteers and managers. The statistics are extremely useful and, again, very easy to run, and they have changed the way we can monitor our volunteers' attendance and, as a consequence, their satisfaction.

Cons

We mainly use 1 dashboard, but for different volunteer roles: I cannot run statistics by role, only by person (if I am not mistaken?).

Ilana was brilliant! From our introduction to the system, through the training and after sales support, she has been fast, efficient and great to deal with. Having one point of contact from the start has been beneficial for everyone involved.

Pros

We were concerned that the sort of rota system that we wanted would be complicated but Rotacentral is so easy to use. From first contact to getting up and running, it has been very straight forward.

Cons

There was nothing that we didn't like or found difficult. The system is working well in our organisation and users have found it easy to navigate.

Pros

Rota Central has made managing our rotas so much easier. The user interface is clear and not littered with unnecessary features. It's great that we are able to tweak how we want our shifts to look and use colour coordination for the different roles. I love that we can save templates, streamlining things when we want to prompt people to sign up for their shifts, or to acknowledge that they wish to cancel. The customer service has been great as well - the response time is super quick and they have been great at listening to our feedback.

Cons

We had one issue, which was resolved - Sometimes our team write a note next to their shift and we do not receive an email notification for this. Other than to log on regularly throughout the day to look for notes (which isn't realistic) there hasn't been an option to be notified and we sometimes miss these notes as a result. Having said that, Rota Central have listened to feedback and now there is a yellow post it note next to people who have written a note, which makes it much easier to identify.

Excellent. It is making managing a large team of volunteers much easier, and readily accessible by all management.

Pros

Great product. The customer support was excellent as we set this up for our charity arts centre. Once you get the hang of the system, Rota Central is very easy to use to facilitate centralised management of volunteer shifts. The templates make entering events and sending emails quick and easy. Plus it handles all the data protection issues. It is then easy to invite folk to sign up and to see who has signed up for what.

Cons

Our elderly volunteers have struggled to get the hang of the system, and grumble that they can see too much data or their shift has not been accepted into the system properly (operator error probably though!). Scrolling through large numbers of events on the dashboard can feel a bit clunky. Admin volunteers for multiple organisations end up having large numbers of log ins; it would be helpful if log-ins could be made specific to the person who once in Rota Central can choose the organisation to interact with.

It is still early days but it has already made a positive impact for ourselves and our volunteers. We are able to identify days that are not covered in sufficient time to arrange alternative cover if needed.

Pros

It has been easy for our volunteers to use and enables us to have good visibility of where we have potential gaps in our shop cover.

Cons

We did struggle with setting up recurring events but that was due to lack of experience on our part. \[sensitive content hidden\] was very patient and talked us through the process.

Pros

Ilana and the team provide a smooth and well-oiled introduction to their scheduling software, with an impressive amount of up-front help and support. The software works beautifully and is both intuitive to use, and tidy in its layout. If you're looking for a simple bit of gear to get your employees (or, in our case, volunteers) organised and aware of their shifts, RotaCentral is the software for you!

Cons

The only drawback is one specific to the peculiarly irregular schedule of our organisation, which makes using the 'repeat every X days' function harder, given the uneven way in which our calender works - but, as I say, that's no fault of RotaCentral's!

Excellent, I'd happily recommend to anyone. They're a great team who understand the issues we face and have provided a clever solution.

Pros

Excellent service and a very good product doing excactly what we want. It meets all of our needs in terms of managing volunteers.

Cons

Really very few cons. Couldn't be much happier with it - other than possibly the UI isn't the prettiest. But it is very functional. I'm very happy.

We really think its a great product with excellent customer support. It has saved us lots of time and streamlined the rota for us.

Pros

RotaCentral has been a game-changer for our food bank. It’s remarkably simple to use and has saved us countless hours. Volunteers also rate the system, Its efficiency has truly streamlined our volunteer management, a brilliant tool. Great customer support from the team when we have had a problem.

Cons

It would be useful if it was an app based system that people could have on their phone to access it more easily.

The team are on hand and available to help any time we need. They helped us get started, trained us in the use of the system and have adjusted things when needed to suit our operation.

Pros

It is a simple to use tool which helps make light work of our volunteer management. Volunteers can access and sign up without our team needing to get involved.

Cons

Visually it's quite basic but honestly, we don't mind that. Especially considering the price. A tool to monitor no shows would be useful.

We were looking for a rota system for our volunteers which was simple for them to use and at a reasonable price and we found with it RotaCentral. Friendly staff always at the end of an email and quick to respond.

Pros

Very simple to use. Price was in our budget.

Being able to pre-schedule events would be useful.

Excellent customer service, all at a very reasonable cost.

Pros

The support available is exceptional, whether that's asking a question by Live Chat that gets answered very quickly, or scheduling in a longer support call to better understand my organisation's needs to see how things could be streamlined. Where possible, there is a willingness to meet the customer's needs, even if that functionality doesn't yet exist within RotaCentral. They are happy to look at whether that is something that could be developed for users.

Cons

Because I wish to allow some staff to self select, and others to be allocated to roles on varying different days (not regular days), RotaCentral doesn't allow me to do this automated. I still have to do some aspects manually in a spreadsheet and transfer the data to RotaCentral so that staff view their shifts in one portal.
