My overall experience is not that great. Reports take a long time to run and do not export to Excel. The selection is generic. Dentrix is not useful compared to other products on the market.

Pros

It's basically user-friendly and easy to navigate. The chart section is good because it allows you to see everything on one page.

Cons

Customer service is terrible. Every time I call I'm on hold for no less than 20 minutes which is frustrating. The reports are generic and most don't allow importing them to Excel.

I have been using Dentrix for 25 years. Constant updates have been a headache but Dentrix has been very functional. Terminating my relationship has been a nightmare.

Pros

Intuitive and easy to use. Handles every clinic task Ive needed to run my business. Customer sevice is great at helping run the software.

Cons

I sold my dental practice in December. Dentrix helped with the transition to the new owner and Open Dental. \[sensitive content hidden\] has access to my bank account and they won"t stop billing me. Every month customer service says they will close my account. It is now March and they hit my account again. I cant seem to make them stop. Help!

Pros

As someone who lives at the intersection of patient experience, practice growth, and operational efficiency, I’ve worked with my fair share of dental practice management systems. But Dentrix is one that consistently delivers the depth and insights a marketing executive like me needs to grow a practice strategically and sustainably.

Cons

Dentrix has a bit of a learning curve. When training new employees, it takes sometime to go over the software functions and find your flow in utilizing the features that Dentrix provides.

### "Dentrix-the Epitome of Patient Care"

Dentrix has been a great software to use in patient care. It is up to date, accurate, and quick. I am never waiting on a lagging screen. I love that Dexis and other software easily integrate into it.

Pros

I love how user friendly it is. It is a clean and simple software to understand. When onboarding new employees, there is great ease.

Cons

I do think that it needs a little bit of a facelift. It looks like we are still practicing dentistry in the 2010's

Working with Dentrix for 20+ years has been great. I started using the software as a dental assistant, and then receptionist to now as an Office Manager. It's AMAZING!!

Pros

I love the ability to pull any reports and their accuracy. Dentrix is easy to use and easy for new team members to grasp.

Cons

I dislike when we have errors that affect the whole Dentrix system. But other than that, I have no issues nor concerns with Dentrix.

It pushed our patient flow and decreased the time spent on admin. Billing is easier and we have had much less scheduling trouble since we switched to Dentrix.

Pros

The documentation that automatically pulls from visit to visit is great, as I can plan and treat faster as well as be consistent across providers. It is also very easy to rearrange scheduling at the last moment when plans change.

Cons

The UI is a little old fashioned, and it took a longer time to get onboarded than I would have liked. Some staff required extra support to feel comfortable.

Pros

Dentrix is a great program for people in the dental profession. It is incredibly easy to use for patients and compatible to other softwares.

Cons

I honestly don't have anything bad to say about dentrix. It has been nothing but helpful in my practice.

I would say my overall experience with denturists is fair definitely not. My favorite would probably not refer any other dental offices to that software.

Pros

I have to say it is hard to find something that I really do like about Dentrix. But if I were to pick something, I would have to say the ledger was fairly easy to read. Scheduling was also pretty convenient.

Cons

So many things that I can say that I like lease about Dentrix the ledger and reporting we’re not my favorite in particular with the reporting it’s just not user-friendly they take forever to load, and the ledger itself is just not user-friendly because you do not allocate payments to any procedures, so you really don’t know what the money was for unless you make a note within the payment, which is kind of cumbersome

Pros

What I like most about Dentrix, is that it is very user friendly, and very easy for new learners. I also like how the dental ledger is set up.

Cons

There is nothing I did not dislike about Dentrix. When there is an update it is easy to still use and adjust with the changes.

I like mostly the Charting in Dentrix. As a dental assistant of 4 years, it is easy to input the existing restorations, conditions and treatment planning. The graphics of each tooth surfaces are precised. The dental staff as well as the dental provider are comfortable using it.

We use Dentrix everyday in our dental clinic. It is the glue that holds our work days together. We are in the process of going paperless and Dentrix has enabled us to be confident in this big change. From scheduling efficiently to keeping track of completed and future treatment, Dentrix keeps the workday flowing.

Pros

Patient charting and treatment planning are the most critical functions my workday. My office manager would tell you the eClaims and insurance verification options are important for an efficient day. We continue to learn about new options as we upgrade to Optimum Pro and take on automatic notifications and online bill pay. Because of their multiple service packages, you can personalize you package based on cost and features. It’s a good product.

Cons

You have to be familiar with the software or you will become overwhelmed by the number of buttons and options. I probably only use half of all the functions. Training is imperative and their customer service is usually good. At times, it will take a while to get through to a real person for support.

Reason for choosing Dentrix

Cost and other user recommendations. We spoke with other doctors and their experience with both Eaglesoft and Dentrix. Dentrix always won out.

I have been working at another dental office recently that doesn’t use Dentrix and I really realize how user friendly Dentrix is and how complete the software feels. It is organized and easy to complete tasks/charting without duplicating efforts. Dentrix just feels like it makes sense to me and it has a professional and updated look. The software I use at the other office is so much harder to use and takes me twice as long to do anything (maybe because I have so much experience using dentrix?). Dentrix is a complete package of features that link together everything in a patient record.

Pros

The features and ways this software can help manage patient records, appointments, billing, treatment plans, and communications is limitless. I have worked in offices that utilize Dentrix to its fullest and it is a great tool and keeps everyone on the same page in regulates to patients and treatment etc. You can begin using it for a few things and as you get comfortable the features used can expand. It is pretty flexible for using in small offices or larger offices and with proper training it seems to be great in my experience as a hygienist.

Cons

It can become a mess if employees don’t understand how to utilize the software properly. If patients aren’t scheduled directly from the recall in their chart then they will show up on recall lists and get notified they are due for an appointment or sometimes they can end up with multiple recalls if not managed correctly when scheduling. If treatment plans aren’t input correctly then scheduling and estimates will be inaccurate.

well the much older version of the software was user friendly and integrated easily bridged with actual HELP features that tells and teaches about every aspect of all the software features without having to call tech support on a wkly bases. Whatever happened to Dentrix in the last few years has been all bad and very user-UNfriendly. Free software would have been a better use of time and for the money we could have taken a nice office week training in a nice tropical area.

Cons

everything!!! tech support, help features, trainers that could help set up software and features. NO printed how to book but then again the help feature just has you calling tech support that is about as knowledgeable as the in ap help feature.

Reason for choosing Dentrix

Not sure but upset that i spoke so highly of my past outdated experience of a much nicer and user friendly Dentrix.

### "Not for the average user"

I don't have to have paper charts or appointment book.

Pros

It's powerful for the front office. Has a lot of reports that can be generated. Customizable. Can enter time on procedure codes.

Cons

Not for the average user even if they go to training. The end user has to be computer savvy and has an exceptional attention to detail. Front office heavy. Treatment planner presentation is not adequate. eServices bundle includes stuff that's not needed or used. Inaccurate when it comes to continuing care data. Although customizable, software limits the characters for labeling on definitions such as Appointment Status. Too many data fields that are hidden or hard to find therefore, causes a lot of inadequate data entry due to confusing and busy display and fields. Unscheduled treatment plan reports does not show that patients have already appointed for some on the treatment list. Can't easily generate or create referral template unless the user also has advanced knowledge of MS Word. Clinical template creation is difficult. Lab manager is too clunky. eServices insurance verification is too clunky and glitchy. Could not generate a list of specific procedures attached to a patient's name. For example, list of patients with premolar and molar endo on their treatment plan. I have a Dentrix superuser on my team. We had to use mail merge for this. Procedure code appointment length customization is pointless since the software does not properly calculate clinician and assistant times when entering multiple procedures.

Overall it has been a hindrance to the dental practice

Pros

Hard to find a good in the product. Free up some office space because we don't have charts anymore

Cons

For example, Recently I switch phones. For Dentrix eprescibe I need to use my phone as part of a two part authentication process to authorize prescriptions. I have not been able to authorize prescriptions for narcotics for the past two weeks. Patients is pain have not been able to have their prescription filled for these two weeks. I have been on the phone with Dentrix literally everyday to try to fix this problem to no avail. It has been like the movie “Ground Hog Day” I call them up they walk me the same procedures over and over and over again. It was never resolved. I have wasted hours and hours of work time to try and resolve this problem. It has been an insulting process that Dentrix believes that they can waste my time. I am sick of being played the fool. My goal now is to get management to switch out of Dentrix asap

Wasn't my choice I would have never picked this product

Pros

I love that Dentrix is easy to use and can be customized for individual providers. I find that most features are intuitive to use and do not require extensive training. But, if you do need training, Dentrix customer service and website are helpful.

Cons

Though I love that I can create note templates, it can be frustrating that you cannot go back when filling out a note template (when using the pop-up questions); sometimes as a busy provider, we forget to check a box or fill out something and having to manually enter it after the fact is annoying.

this product requires a steep learning curve; however its features and versatility are very useful

Cons

20+ year user: Product has gotten more complicated to use. previously globally updated components like DEXIS, now must be updated separately; tech support has degraded; is outsourced and there is a language barrier-30 minutes of formalities before the problem is addressed; wait times are lengthy; tech reads manual on client time while client is holding; techs poorly trained and inexperienced. Dentrix integrated brand name products like: Colgate into RXs and CareCredit in the software without client permission.

I have been using Dentrix since 1996! It was the best option back then and is STILL the best option now. I would not recommend any other software and I did a lot of research on all the options out there!

Pros

Scheduling is great. Electronic options work very will. Reports are very informative.

Cons

I would like more reports and a little more flexibility with reports. For example I would like to save reports directly after generating them and I would also like to further customize additional reports. The customization is still very good as is.

Reason for choosing Dentrix

It offered more and it was more fluid and user-friendly
