my overall experience has been a good one so far.

Pros

what i like most is it helps me keep my mission critical repos redundant and durable.

Cons

what i like least is the free tier version only supports 5 active users per month which needs to be increased for proper developer experience.

### "The go for option when client directly pays the bills"

November 22, 2022

5.0

Despite the difficulty in managing users, once you understand it, the tool is simple and brings the advantages of centralizing the company's operations in a single service provider

Pros

I managed to perform continuous integration and continuous delivery automations in an integrated way, configuring only a single user in a single tool. This made it easier when you needed to turn off code access.

Cons

Very complex access level management as per Amazon AWS format

Reason for choosing AWS CodeCommit

I wouldn't need to explain another tool to the customer, he already trusted the Amazon AWS brand and this would reduce my cost of convincing him to do so.

I provided services to clients and bore the cost of code versioning. It was cheap at first, but it turned out to be expensive over time. As they already paid for the servers in an Amazon AWS account, I simply migrated the repositories to Amazon AWS Code Commit and the cost of operation fell to the customer, as it should have and I had no dificulties for his approval over this.

### "A basic code repository with a lot of potential"

September 22, 2023

3.0

Pros

It is very good to have the code repository in the same ecosystem as the rest of the applications. It can use the same privileges to restrict users only to their respective repositories.

Cons

The Code Review part is very simple, and if there is a change, even if small, in a large file, it is impossible to see the diff because CodeCommit does not allow it.

Reason for choosing AWS CodeCommit

It was already available in our AWS account ecosystem.

### "Personal git to aid CI/CD on AWS platform 💪"

November 25, 2022

4.0

Excellent if you're setting up CI/CD or Jenkins workload on AWS. Relatively young in Comparison with GitHub.

Pros

Seamless integration with AWS, as our primary requirment is to setup CI/CD pipelines, using third party services can be a bit cumbersome.

Cons

UI and lack of many features that git provides, whole UI focuses on the basic Amazon design language.

Alternatives considered

[Bitbucket](https://www.capterra.com/p/233341/Bitbucket/)

Reason for choosing AWS CodeCommit

AWS first party support and it being cloud agnostic. Helps a lot in setting up pipelines in AWS.

Switched from

Easier integration into AWS CI/CD pipelines. GitHub is grandfather of VCS but in this case CodeCommit is way sensible option as the cloud provider itself has created it.

### "Efficient and Secure Git-based Code Repository with Seamless AWS Integration - A Comprehensive Revie"

March 18, 2023

4.0

it keeps my versions straight , i'm never loosing my code again !! plus it's much easier to group and modify

Pros

In terms of usability, CodeCommit has a straightforward user interface and supports familiar Git workflows, making it easy for developers to use. Additionally, the service provides seamless integration with other AWS services, such as CodePipeline and CodeBuild, which streamlines the CI/CD process and improves developer productivity. The integration with our existing business processes was relatively easy due to the service's compatibility with Git, which is a widely-used version control system. CodeCommit also integrates well with AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM), which allowed us to easily manage user access and control permissions at the repository level.Overall, AWS Code Commit has proven to be a reliable and efficient tool for our code management needs, and we would highly recommend it to other businesses looking for a secure and scalable code repository with seamless AWS integration.

Cons

Code Commit currently doesn't have any web hooks into CI systems to show build status or test results. This is a show stopper for most enterprise development teams.Plus the max file you can commit cannot be more than 2GB and the maximum repos per account is limited to 1000 which could be an issue for big corporations if they don't want to use multiple accounts.

### "Next level repositories and scalability with CodeCommit!"

July 24, 2022

5.0

After changing to AWS CodeCommit, we couldn't go back. The service brings nothing but improvements to the common Git/Github workflows our team was used to. The security features are a big plus, so you don't have to ever worry about letting bad code or tokens into production.

Pros

CodeCommit integrates CI/CD pipelines since the repository creation without much configuration. You don't have to worry about getting the wrong code in production or spoiling a token because of its environment variable handling. It also integrates its own backup and versioning system so you don't have to worry about rollbacks in the future. Another great feature is its compatibility with all AWS infrastructure and automatics deploys.

Cons

If you use Git/Github daily, there isn't anything to dislike. The service counts with these basic features and more.

### "Aws code commit best tool for versioning and backing up your codebase in aws"

June 18, 2022

4.0

Overall if you have all your Indra setup running on aws, I should definitely recommend everyone to use Aws CodeCommit as it is very simple to get started with if you understand git.

Pros

Aws CodeCommit provides all the capabilities of git in aws. I personally love it's convenience of having everything under one roof of aws from codebase to its deployment and monitoring and its powerful connected with ci/cd pipeline.

Cons

Aws CodeCommit doesn't have the best ui/ux experience compared to other similar tools in market which reduces its overall usability.

Pros

The good thing in AWS CodeCommit is highly scalable , available and durable service. It manage the repository of source . One of the best collaboration tool to make change in shared folder or we can say in shared repository .

Cons

The configuration of the AWS CodeCommit repository is little difficult than other source code management tools. And it is also limited to AWS cloud only. Not compatible with some other cloud providers.
