### "Polypane is a missing tool for frontend developers"

December 24, 2025

4.0

I'm excited about its progress, I prefer learning to use it more, I think it's a tool that frontend developers desperately needed. Very quickly it helped me uncover a bug I overlooked on tablet viewport simply because I had the pane open, it made me think when I would've uncovered it otherwise. It also helped me very with remote debugging on Safari v16 via public portal, I wouldn't have been able to build a solution that easily otherwise. I currently have some troubles with Polypane seemingly running out of memory and recently had issues with it using up much of my network, but I think the network problem has been solved.

Pros

\- overwhelming amount of development insights - ability to emulatione just about anything - remote debugging via public portals - incredibly responsive friendly, allowing me to create panes from autodetected breakpoints - it seems to include much of auditing that we have tools for online, and some that we didn't know, so we no longer have to chase around many of those tools - smart unified Elements and Console - fast and friendly support from the creator himself - feeling like I barely scratched the surface of what Polypane can do

Cons

\- learning curve, figuring out exactly what Polypane is first, and that references are best looked up in the in-panel browser - inability to inspect iframes with Polypane's inspect (I can use Chromium DevTools for that), I don't need to inspect contents, just iframe elements themselves, but that seems to be spotty - low performance of some pieces of the browser itself, e.g. it takes Capo.js a long time to expand and collapse

### "Powerful Yet Intuitive Toolset"

April 20, 2026

5.0

Polypane is a wonderful tool that is beautifully crafted. I enjoy using it and it helps me tremendously.

Pros

Powerful yet intuitive toolset. Low learning curve, up and running in minutes. Great marketing and communication by the developer.

Cons

Found a feature with initially confusing behavior (pane sizes in "Focus" mode); found a feature that stalls with too much data (large screenshots); sent constructive feedback to the developer.

Alternatives considered

[Firefox](https://www.capterra.com/p/228987/Firefox/)[Google Chrome](https://www.capterra.com/p/228985/Chrome/)

Reason for choosing Polypane

Multiple-pane functionality is not available in alternatives. This is the critical feature!

### "Needs a better Getting Started guide"

Pros

Cons

Response from Polypane

November 3, 2022

Hey Ryan, Sorry to hear you had a hard time getting started. Polypane's getting started guide is visible right in the app when you first launch it (unless you click it away) and there's actually a full video walkthrough of me on the first page of our extensive docs, where all the features are documented: https://polypane.app/docs/ Did you go through that guide, or take a look at the video? We explain both of them in the first getting started email we send as well that you got when you signed up for your free trial. In any case, you're always welcome to reach out through mail or the live chat if you have any questions, I'm happy to answer and explain.

### "Could have used this for years!"

Superb. Brilliant on-boarding. Brilliant app. Just a superb app - with superb support. \[sensitive content hidden\] is a star.

Pros

The extensive range of features.... for the price. Just not having to continually resize the browser.

Cons

Not used it long enough to find anything. I guess the speed could be addressed - but really - how may tabs/sizes do I need?!

### "Polypane has saved me a lot of money and time"

March 15, 2022

5.0

I am not a full-time website developer but it is within my responsibilities to audit and improve overall website functionality and visual performance. Polypane became my tool of choice for this as soon as it came out. The simplest way Polypane is saving me money is when I need to evaluate a theme for a website at a marketplace like ThemeForest. I can run any theme demo via Polypane and quickly see if it could work, or is not suitable for the task — just by looking at the desktop and mobile view at the same time. Before I bought Polypane, I kept a couple of tablets and several mobile phones around just so that I could put a design through its paces at different resolutions and see how well or poorly it performed. In the past, I have purchased many $50-70 theme only to find out later they would not work for me because the menu doesn't look well or something; with Polypane I can weed off the unsuitable themes very quickly. It also helps me a lot to communicate the work I am doing to my customers. Many people still view their own websites only on desktop and demand solutions that don't work on mobile; a simple screenshot from Polypane allows me to show them quickly where the issue lies, and propose a better solution.

Pros

Polypane is an ambitious project: it combines website design & development, functional testing and accessibility testing (these are often addressed by different tools otherwise, especially the last one). Feature development is ongoing, and valuable features are added every 3-6 months. The developer Kilian Valkhof is extremely accessible and very generous with his time. The Polypane website which he runs in parallel with the Polypane app, includes several useful tools and TONS of valuable information within the blog section.

Cons

With 2-3 website tabs open and 4-5 emulated devices per tab, Polypane gets a bit sluggish for my old PC (4C/8T Haswell at 3.5GHz, 32GB RAM). Sometimes synced scroll will not work reliably.

### "A must-have for responsive design and accessibility testing"

March 14, 2025

5.0

If you work with UI and front-end development daily, it’s definitely worth considering giving it a shot. I have no idea why it's not popular but it's such a well done product.

Pros

What I like most about Polypane is how it simplifies design testing. Also having multiple viewports side by side is a literal game changer. The built-in accessibility checks are also a great tool, it saves time compared to switching between separate tools. It's just packed with features overall.

Cons

Being that it has so many features packed in, I feel the UI can be a bit "overwhelming" at first. Again, while it’s a powerful tool, it’s not exactly lightweight either

### "Essential for website quality assurance and front-end development"

March 8, 2022

5.0

Our desks used to be full of devices – iphone, android phone, ipad, macbook and windows laptop. Refreshing all the screens to see if the client's website looked great at different viewpoints took time. Probably 40% of the build time is QA and testing. Polypane solves this problem by letting you view multiple viewports and set guides/rulers to see if everything lines up as you scroll.

Pros

The passion of the creator and constant improvement. We mostly use this for testing website responsive viewport sizes side-by-side, but there is so much more here.

Cons

The refresh icon was on the right side of the address bar (a hang over of previous browser UI), but this changed last year. The expereince is seamless coming from using F12 in Chrome.

### "The best application for web developers."

October 11, 2024

Overall, it works perfectly and fulfills its main objective of debugging any errors.

Pros

I love its graphical interface, super easy to use. The ability to view the website on multiple devices (sizes) at the same time is fantastic.

Cons

What I like the least is the performance; in some cases, it feels like it freezes for a few seconds.

### "Polypane as a next generation tool for software developers."

November 18, 2023

5.0

It's new and professional. I see myself using it a lot in feature.

Pros

I like the responsiveness in terms of moving the pages around and especially the interface.

Cons

I have not found anything discouraging about the App but I have experienced some functional inadequacies like not being able to submit a form across all screen sizes with a click from one screen resolution and struggling to find the settings icon.

Review Source

Response from Polypane

November 18, 2023

Thanks for your kind review! Regarding your findings: We explicitly prevent doing multiple form submissions, this is explained in the documentation: https://polypane.app/docs/synced-interactions/#form-submissions-are-prevented If we submit a form multiple times, that means that your server is going to perform that action for each pane separately. If that actions is for example "Delete the latest item", then instead of deleting one item, you delete an item for each pane, and that would be bad. Each tool in Polypane has its own settings, they're not put in one large settings overview to get lost in. Hope that helps!

### "Neat and useful development product"

March 8, 2022

5.0

Loved so far, and looking forward to new updates and features :)

Pros

It's a product made with the web developer in mind, as you navigate it you can see that it is made to make your life easier. The most attractive feature is the ability to lay the most common mobile screen resolutions, and as you develop, see the outcome result simultaneously in front of you.

Cons

The overall GPU overhead as you add more and more viewports, depending on the complexity of the application could heat up your computer faster.

### "Pretty decent!"

May 26, 2022

5.0

I use Polypane for all of my web development procedures. From debugging all the way to deployment, it's been great so far. The pricing is fairly reasonable for what it's offering and my experience has been positive with the overall software.

Pros

The best part about Polypane is that it allowed me to seamlessly migrate to a new experience from my existing platform of development. The client login procedure is minimalistic and perfect. For web devs like me, the responsive view by default is beautiful & there are tons of features that I am sure developers will find helpful.

Cons

The Linux client of the software (one I am using) is not the best performing browser at least on the Debian (x86-64) platform. Performance optimization is much required.

### "The best browser for development!"

March 8, 2022

5.0

I started with the free trial and immediately knew it was something I needed to include in my workflow. I have a bunch of tools bookmarked to handle various tasks, but now pretty much all of these have been replaced by Polypane, built directly into the browser.

Pros

It may be cop out answer, but I like all the tools available! Multipanes to display various screen sizes, accessibility testing features, helpful SEO meta information, even just the small feature of being able to open a separate website from the devtools pane is super helpful!

Cons

I have no complaints so far! I have a few ideas for feature requests, however the team behind Polypane seems great and quick to respond!
