### "EA, Tax Preparer"

February 10, 2026

3.0

It is ok. ATX had a sales rep that called and wanted to meet my needs. The last few years they raised the prices and don't have plans for small businesses.

Pros

Ease to Use for a Tax Preparer that is used to the Forms. I have had the software for over 10 years and it is comfortable to navigate through out the Tax Forms in a Tax Return. They are all located on the side once you open a tax return.

Cons

Value for the price is to high. Customer Support is terrible. Hard to get in touch with a representative and they are hesitant to help. I have purchased the software for over 10 years.

### "ATX software"

I have used ATX since 2008 and have been very satisfied with them and their support team.

Pros

They are reliable and always up to date with the current tax laws.

Cons

Would love for them to have an online version.

### "Business Manager"

January 5, 2026

3.0

I have used the software for over ten years and am very disappointed that I will no longer be able to use the Software for the business transactions that I do. I have found a new software and hope to move all transactions to the new platform next year.

Pros

I do like the ATX software, it is easy to use. The software has been great until 2024 when the state that we work in changed the forms and hte process.

Cons

Customer Service is no longer the best now we experience long wait times or just chat when you need a person to help you work through an issue.

Reason for choosing ATX

When I selected the product 10 years ago it was cost effective, user friendly and the customer service was great. Now down to the sales person they lack the personal customer attitude.

I really appreciate the value of ATX. I pay a flat fee regardless of how many returns I efile and all the forms I need are available to me. I am amazed at how in depth this system is.

Pros

It is fairly easy to figure out once you get into the system. I appreciate that the rollover feature is simple and updates all the information I need.

Cons

Some features are difficult to figure out which box needs to be checked to make the system calculate the outcome correctly. Also, the bank information is not saved when there is no refund. Also, the preparer info does not rollover to the next year which is somewhat frustrating as I am the only preparer and nothing changes year to year, but I still have to input that information.

### "They are just too big for a small tax prep office"

March 24, 2023

5.0

I've used ATX since 2008

Pros

I had no complaints other than cost was just rising and rising

Cons

The program can do so much more than I need it to do. It is therefore priced itself out of my range

### "ATX quality has declined over the years"

September 22, 2022

1.0

I have been using ATX since 2004, but switching for 2022. Overall the price was reasonable, but they tack on additional fees. We have always purchased the total tax office, but that is not total. They charge additional fees for filing 1099s up to a fee, usually $150, but then after the filing deadline, they charge additional fees for filing 1099s. They also charge additional fees if filing prior year returns even though we paid for the prior year total tax office. They keep charging these extra fees which get to be annoying.

Pros

ATX is easy to use and provides form based input so you can see the results immediately. Although the tax calculation is not always updated properly and you have to close and re-open the return to get the calculation to propagate sometimes.

Cons

The software crashes periodically. It has really gotten worse over the last 2 years and just shuts down. The software does keep it sync with the sister customer database of CCH iFirm. We have to re-establish the sync about every two weeks by removing the link and re-establishing the link. The base information input screen changed drastically for 2021 tax filing year and you can't create just a simple information sheet for filing Texas Franchise return without linking it to federal return. However you cannot have multiple state Franchise entities on the same Federal return, so then you have to create a duplicate Federal return and just not file the federal. Very messy. Customer service has dramatically declined and tickets don't get worked. You have to call and be on hold for considerable amount of time, and then when you get someone, it takes them so long to go through their script of trying to resolve the problem before they finally either say they have to get someone else that is qualified to address this or find the KB article that provides the work around. Very painful to go through this every time.

### "Not a user friendly tax software at all "

February 22, 2024

Pros

Cons

Reason for choosing ATX

Just function of efiling and reputation

### "Not A Software you rely on"

April 4, 2024

1.0

I only used ATX for the price but, you get what you paid for. I am not impressed with ATX and finding different solution even with more money will help increasing the client’s retention ratio.

Pros

ATX updates and downloads are easy and smooth, data entry is not that bad on Federal forms, you just cross your figures that those amounts transfer correctly to the States. Generally, it is good for W2 with one state tax return other than that I will highly suggest move to different solution if have mid to high complex return for the sake of client retention.

Cons

Don’t get me started, ATX is not the software you depend on, ATX will play a role in expediting loosing clients due to inaccuracy. You enter a % and think it will calculate, which in a lost of cases it will not, and if you call support, they will give you the run around. If you do multi States in ATX, you have to review all lines and forms to make sure all amounts are transferred correctly, I do have few cases that I sent to support inquiring about wrong amounts entered that was an old tax codes for the year and the answer is they will send it for development, WHAT, after tax season imagine how many notices will be sent to clients that I will take the burden to fix due to ATX errors and issues.

### "Horrible customer service"

February 10, 2026

2.0

All of my attempts to switch my billing to a new card have failed. All of my attempts to correct my EFIN data have failed. They had my account for my new company tied to a former employer and that has only recently been corrected after 6 days.

Pros

Program works reasonably well for the price. Modestly priced, includes features like remote signatures and linking K-1 data to 1040s.

Cons

Customer Support/Service is horrible. I have been waiting 7 days for them to correct my EFIN data, and still nothing despite sending it 3 times.

Error, but mostly processing return to slow

Pros

The price was my main focus in buying ATX, nearly 20 years ago. Also it was very easy to use. However, the quality of the product seems to decreased from year to year. 2022 ATX was the worst. By plan is to change comapny for the 2023 tax season

Cons

Very slow in processing returns. For example, revewiig returns for efiling take a long time

My customers love it, but it is not for novices to install and make work.

Pros

Does much for the CPAs I support as their IT person.

Cons

Technical support needs work. I believe I was more knowledgeable about networking.

Reason for choosing ATX

Better product
