### "DAZ Studio Is Great For Writers"

May 7, 2024

5.0

I first downloaded DAZ 3.0 and played with it. The characters were very high quality compared to Poser, its only competitor. I used both for many years, and finally made the switch to DAZ in 2012. I have been very satisfied with its performance, tech support, and of course, what I've been able to render using it. I use it for my book covers and am pleased with the way they usually turn out. It is wonderful to be able to create a character from one of my stories and see them come to life! I have played a bit with animation, but usually I am doing stills. I recommend DAZ to all writers who need book covers!

Pros

Of all the 3D software I've tried, it is the easiest to use! There are plenty of tutorials out there to get up to speed fast, and the built-in ones are very well done and easy to follow. It comes with many human models, props, clothing and settings. There are weekly freebies. The site includes a store with hundreds of artists' products, most reasonably priced. I have used the site weekly since about 2009, and the software about for the same amount of time. I have been very satisfied with my purchases. DAZ has high standards for its artists and I had few problems. When I did, tech support is very high-quality and I was satisfied. The forums are active and users are helpful, also.

Cons

To enable a lot of its functionality, you need to buy things. But this is a minor drawback, to me.

### "Quick and Easy way to add realistic humans to Architectural renders. "

October 18, 2023

4.0

I recreate historical and Biblical buildings and scenes in Blender. I use Daz Studio to design characters, clothed and styled for the appropriate time period. I then use the Blender Bridge to drop the characters into my scene and then render the finished image.

Pros

Free to begin so I was able to try it and see if it would do what I needed before needing to purchase anything. I've been using it for years and initially took advantage of its Bryce 3d bridge to develop my visualization scenes. In recent years I've switched to using Daz Studio with Blender. DAZ has developed a very capable bridge between Studio and Blender making it very easy to create and pose characters before dropping them into a Blender scene.

Cons

It works well for my particular needs. My wish list is more for areas I dabble in, rather than things I need for my work. I wish it had a 64bit lip-sync utility. It is a pain to have to switch between the 64bit and 32bit versions to add lip-sync to an animation. I would also like to see affordable motion capture available. But as I stated, none of these wishes are needed for my primary use of Daz Studio.

Reason for choosing Daz Studio

It was easier to make realistic humans and poses. Plus, there are an extensive number of resources available for Daz Studio. Many of them are free with commercial licensing and even the paid resources are reasonably priced.

### "DAZ 3D, a must have for all creatives. "

July 9, 2025

5.0

It’s easy to use, although time consuming when first starting out as you need to explore the settings in order to get your desired pose results.

Pros

I like the ability to have multiple 3D models to pose in a scene. Alongside this, you can give them various props and clothes to pose to assist in your compositions for export.

Cons

I wish there was a way to have a plug in for this program that would work with products such as adobe photoshop. Pixel Squid has this and it speeds up workflows.

### "Daz Studio: A powerful animation tool."

June 28, 2022

4.0

Daz Studio is a software that I mainly make use of for animation, especially character animation. I also use their tool to manipulate models I have created in other software. Daz studio runs pretty well, I've only had problems a very few times. The software is free which is always great. For 3D modeling and sculpting from scratch, there are many options but Daz Studio is still a good option.

Pros

Daz Studio has a very powerful animation system which I make use of for character animations. The built-in muscle group flex function is very impressive and it's amazing that such a feature comes out of a free software. Daz Studio is also great for manipulating prebuilt models.

Cons

Like I said for a pro - Daz Studio is great for manipulating prebuilt models - well this is because as a con, it's not the best to create models from scratch. The software is also a bit confusing to use at times. I have experienced a few crashes when using it.

Daz Studio was cheaper and it's animation system still did what I required.

### "Creative Alliance Review"

July 13, 2023

4.0

Overall Daz Studio has been out go-to software for character modeling and design. We are satisfied with the product and hope to use it for a long time.

Pros

I mostly like 3D character modeling in Daz Studio and scene creation is also very simplified and easy to use. The Daz marketplace with so many free assets to use is one of the key features that we are fans of.

Cons

The overall look while using the software doesn't look professional and the price of some assets are very high which could be imported from a 3rd party at free of cost.

### "My primary source for assets and characters"

November 9, 2022

5.0

When I started animation Daz opened up a world of environments and props which really made my productions stand out from the crowd. Now it is a cornerstone of my workflow.

Pros

Daz is the first place I look for environments, props, clothing and even characters. The shop is excellent and the majority of models are great quality and easily exportable. I used to export/import via FBX but now use the Unreal exporter tool which seems to work seamlessly. I still use DAZ as my library for models though as they can get a bit lost in Unreal.

Cons

I must admit I haven't got my head round the animation aspect of DAZ as I'm not impressed with the output from others. I export to iClone and do my animation there as it has greater options and resources.

### "Daz Potential"

December 4, 2023

5.0

Using tutorials, and having invested in some of the better add-ons, I'm able to learn how to create just the images I need for my unique book covers. It's been a long learning curve, and at times I wanted to give up. But as with anything, if you stick with it and keep trying, eventually you learn it and find it's worth having in your toolbox.

Pros

I love how I can make illustrations of things you can't find on stock photo sites and you don't really need to know how to draw. It creates some very colorful, quality images.

Cons

There is a steep learning curve to this. It's also expensive to get all the add-ons to create multiple graphics.

Character and wardrobe

Pros

Character is easy to combine together with the help of the morph slider or new meta plugin.

Cons

I hate content not working for all characters which means Genesis to Michael, Victoria and so on
