### "Access is a solid database platform"

August 2, 2026

4.0

I have used Access for over 30 years. Over the many years I have created countless custom projects for many different clients.

Pros

Access is great for building databases, by hand. You get full control of building the tables, columns, relationships, key fields and more. It really is a great way to manage large amounts of data with great performance. It even has reporting capability.

Cons

If you do not know the underlying SQL language, well, even if you do, it is still a very large learning curve for Access. If you own the older version- then you own it and there really isn't any ongoing support. You can move the to the new Saas version, but then you have to pay ongoing, forever.

### "Great tool for smaller databases."

August 21, 2025

4.0

Overall it is a great tool if you are starting with a small dataset. Also, because of the integrated forms, it is easy to provide this in a central location to do structured data collection from multiple people.

Pros

Access is simple to use and made setting up relatively small databases quick and easy. Having integrated forms also made it easy to move the database around as needed.

Cons

Its performance starts lagging when your database starts getting somewhat large. I also sometimes had struggles getting other tools to connect to it.

Alternatives considered

[Microsoft SQL Server](https://www.capterra.com/p/1417/SQL-Server/)[Microsoft Excel](https://www.capterra.com/p/176574/Excel/)

Reason for choosing Microsoft Access

We needed more power than spreadsheets could provide but given we were working with smaller datasets, SQL Server was overkill as well as more work to set up.

### "Great Database Tool for Small Businesses"

July 6, 2026

4.0

Overall, my experience with Microsoft Access has been very positive. It's a reliable tool for creating and managing custom databases, and it has handled everything I needed for tracking information, generating reports, and organizing data. While it takes some time to learn and isn't as modern or collaborative as some cloud-based platforms, it offers a lot of functionality for the price. I'd definitely recommend it to individuals or small businesses that need a customizable database solution without investing in more expensive enterprise software.

Pros

What I like most about Microsoft Access is how flexible it is for building custom databases without needing a huge budget. It's great for organizing large amounts of data, creating forms for data entry, and generating reports. I also like that it integrates well with other Microsoft Office products like Excel, making it easy to import and export data. Once you spend a little time learning it, you can customize it to fit almost any small business or internal project.

Cons

Microsoft Access has a bit of a learning curve, especially if you've never worked with databases before. The interface can also feel a little outdated compared to newer cloud-based tools. It works well for smaller projects, but as databases grow larger or multiple people need to work in them at the same time, performance can start to slow down and it isn't always the best option for team collaboration.

### "Access is ok for low level needs"

October 30, 2023

1.0

I did not love our overall experience with Microsoft, I was most happy when we no longer had to use it.

Pros

It was very intuitive to use and like other microsoft products.

Cons

The inability to put multiple donations in and have them show when we pulled reports.

Reason for choosing Microsoft Access

I do not believe that the staff at the time looked for anything else. they went with access because it was free to us.

### "Excellent for quick internal databases, but limited at scale"

April 30, 2026

4.0

Pros

What I liked most about Microsoft Access is how quickly you can build practical internal tools without heavy development. In practice, databases for portfolio tracking, client registers, audit follow-up, inventory logs, or workflow forms can be created relatively fast. It is strong for combining tables, queries, forms, and reports in one desktop tool.

Cons

What I liked least about Microsoft Access is scalability. Once data volumes grow, many users need simultaneous access, or governance requirements become stricter, the tool reaches limits. It can also become fragile if poorly designed with many linked objects and VBA dependencies.

My overall experience with Microsoft Access was a very good experience dealing with customers databases.

Pros

Microsoft Access made it easy for me to add in clients as well as search for clients in any field I needed to.

Cons

Creating the the files I found to be more on the difficult side I wasn't as much involved in that part but I'm sure I could learn it.

### "ACCESS review"

July 11, 2025

5.0

The hole experience is very good with access, in my case I use it to handle welding data for several hundreds of robots in a body shop. I use access for this data handling and it is easier to do this task in access than in any other software, for instance excel. And also make depth and complicated link within information easier.

Pros

I think microsoft access has a lot more pottential than all people realized, it was a very good tool to handle and manage large data bases. Many people do not know this product exist and that is a shame, at the same time most people do not actually handle such a large data base so that excel does not meet their needs. Access has been a power full tool do handle and take care of my large data bases tasks, and its potential for automatization

Cons

At this time with this software in specific, I actually have not find any problem or complain about access it, works well for data storage and data handling, and it is compatible with microsoft apps and others.

### "User-Friendly Database Management with Scalability Limitations"

August 28, 2025

4.0

I would rate Microsoft Access as a robust and versatile database management tool, suitable for small to medium-sized projects.

Pros

Its user-friendly interface and integration with other Microsoft Office products make database management and reporting accessible for non-technical users.

Cons

Limited scalability and performance issues arise with larger datasets, making it less suitable for extensive database projects.

### "Microsoft Access makes managing data easy"

August 9, 2026

5.0

I used to dread doing certain kinds of work (reporting, aggregating and cleaning data, etc.) but Microsoft Access made it much less intimidating. I’ve found it easy to learn (especially for people like me with no programming or dev skills), cost-effective, and it works great with other Office products. I’d definitely recommend it to others!

Pros

What I like best about Microsoft Access is how easy it is to learn and its seamless integration with other Office products like Excel and Word. I’m still new to the software, and have zero programming skills, but I’ve found setting up tables and queries to be intuitive. I’m still learning but so far, so good!

Cons

I’ve had very few issues so far, but I anticipate the storage limit may pose a problem in the new future. In my industry we work with huge datasets, so I hope the 2G limit will be enough.

### "Great for simple and mid-level databases"

April 16, 2022

5.0

Whether you are an experienced programmer or a novice, Access is a great tool. If you do not know SQL, Access can create queries for you. (not VBA though). You can easily integrate Access with all other products - Excel, Txt files, SQL Server, Oracle, etc. If you wish to dwelt deeper into programming - Access is a great place to start, after becoming more experienced, yo can start using SQL Sever, VB, Oracle, and databases and front end applications.

Pros

If you want a relational database, and don't have hundreds of tables, 100,000+ rows each - access is a database to use. First of all it provides - Back End (tables), Front End (forms), Queries, and built in Reports. if you have many users, you can split - Master Database that will only have tables, and other databases linked to it will hosts forms and everything else while being linked to the main database. It utilizes SQL language and VBA so you can perform pretty much every command you need. You can add any control on Form or Table level to verify what users are doing to prevent errors. Regarding what I said about hundreds of tables - if you simply want to look through tables now and then, but not on regular basis, you can store data outside in large txt files, load them, an then remove. (For that using temporary copies will be most useful)

Cons

I've been working with Access for about 20 years, many issues I've seen earlier have been fixed. Now if you wish to split a database, it can do it for you. Maximum limit for currency is not a couple of billions anymore (not a huge amount for Financial Companies) My least favorite part is compacting. Database often becomes to large and needs to be compacted before it crashes. Compacting still takes to long, and sometimes database crashes while doing that. I wish some king of automatic compacting can be done without asking the user.

### "Review about Microsoft Access"

December 21, 2021

5.0

I have been working on Microsoft Access since my studies and after graduating from the Urban Planning Department, and I am still practicing it in my job, as it is the rest of the Microsoft group, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, among the programs that are indispensable in many fields.

Pros

• The main reason may be availability. Microsoft workplace licensing is a should these days and comes with it access. • Most of the time, within the absence of an appropriate information environment, access is incredibly helpful for making a info, which might be simply achieved through an access database with easy queries to extract information. In addition, creating I/O forms makes life a lot of easier to navigate through the database it's very straightforward and intelligible that beginners can handle easily...Where and what will this operate do. • the developer also can use it for his or her own news purposes, it's going to facilitate in data analysis and that they also can work on reporting. • we will even have information during a table format that customers can simply understand. making entity relationship diagrams for multiple tables and creating sample diagrams is incredibly simple

Cons

• One of the downsides of the program is that with the massive range of information inputs, the applying becomes slower, that ends up in a rise within the time in extracting ANd process data. • Typically it produces a mistake because of an sudden ending that I ne'er understood. • It' not as climbable as alternative enterprise information solutions, though it will still do the task.

### "MS Access - User Review"

November 8, 2021

4.0

Overall experience is great, I can still do most of my tasks in terms of running report and data analysis.

Pros

I used it frequently at work, the most I like about this software is relatively easy to use especially for beginners who wish to start learning how to run report for data management. Fairly speaking, users are required some understandings on table structure and database connections before start using this product. I found it interesting though as I have been using MS Access past 15 years with my current job, and I still find that there are many more to learn of this software.

Cons

One thing I came across the compatibility issue with MS Access, e.g. when IT created a brand new table with SQL, and I am using Oracle to connect the newly created table, and for some reason MS Access unable to open up the table although I can connect the new table without issue. In short, I can use MS Access to connect the table, but can not open the table in MS Access. Our IT support team can open the same table with SQL though. I have a feeling this may have something to do with Windows 10 settings, but I am not that technically enough to troubleshoot, unfortunately our IT support group couldn't figure out my problem even now. The reason why I said I have feeling to do with Windows 10, it is because prior my company upgrade our OS to Windows 10, I am able to connect tables without any issues, and after OS upgraded and then IT created some new tables during new projects deployment, then I stared having issue with those newly created table.

### "Microsoft Access"

July 12, 2022

5.0

In the event that your data set should be safeguarded by broad data set security conventions, Access probably won't be the most ideal choice. You can keep away from this issue by utilizing Access toward the front of a SQL server, however few out of every odd business needs that degree of framework regardless makes delicate information to be secured.

Pros

It just requires minutes to introduce this Microsoft Access. Consequently, clients get a data set that is completely useful. It requires no convoluted programming to utilize either, so the normal PC client can exploit the data that can be assembled by this framework. In the event that your data set should be safeguarded by broad data set security conventions, Access probably won't be the most ideal choice. You can keep away from this issue by utilizing Access toward the front of a SQL server, however few out of every odd business needs that degree of framework regardless makes delicate information to be secured.

Cons

There is a wall that can ultimately be reached with regards to contributing data into this data set. For bigger information clients, Microsoft Access might cause constraints that other data set projects might not have just on the grounds that there is a document size limit. In the event that your data set should be safeguarded by broad data set security conventions, Access probably won't be the most ideal choice. You can keep away from this issue by utilizing Access toward the front of a SQL server, however few out of every odd business needs that degree of framework regardless makes delicate information to be secured.

Pros

What I like most is the flexible ability to design a program for what is needed.

### "Much More Than a Database"

November 24, 2022

5.0

Pros

Yes, I can say more than a database. It is an effective program compared to its competitors in the current market. It is a very effective program especially in terms of time and cost savings. It has active support from small businesses to large businesses.System and resource requirements are almost nonexistent. Easy to install in any environment and operating system. Active customer support process, visually drag and drop technology can be done.Key Features include,\* platform independent installation\* Relational data tables\* Advanced interface design,\* Current and effective reporting techniques\* User database security\* Minimum cost and resource requirement\* Simple and Easy user interfaceHe is at a level to lead all his rivals in the same class by far. Management and editing without any coding knowledge.

Cons

Increasing the storage capacity a little more will perhaps have the biggest impact on the market. I have no doubt that it will be unbeatable. But even at this level it responds to all our tests.
